This guy is genius. He did the full replacement just with left hand 😀 WOW!
Work with what you have ✊️
👏
Just did my rear brakes on my f90. Your video is perfect. Took me less than an hour to do my rear brakes. Many thanks.
Can't thank enough for the detailed instructions and for the pointer on brake pads and the tools. Got them all.
Thank you for the video! I went to the stealership in Orlando and they wanted 2k for new rotors and pads for all 4 wheels!. Crazy! 2019 530ix. I will order my parts today. Great work 👏🏻
Brother your absolutely welcome!! Keep in mind I'm only 25 minutes away. Let me know if you need them installed ✅️
Great video. Will be doing mine for the first time on the G30 shortly. I don't have the tool for pushing the piston in but in sure it can easily be done without it if you could wind it in with your fingers. Video is much appreciated 🙏
Absolutely welcome my friend!!! Yes you can definitely just use a thick flathead to push back.
Just wanted to say thank you ! Thanks to this Video i did it myself. You just nailed it, calling all the tools you need to get the job done and many tips inbetween. Great Content, much love from Germany !
Can't thank you enough for this video man. I was pretty intimidated to do my wife's X5 rear brake pads but this makes it simple.
This is why i do what I do. Thank you for the words my brother!!!! You are absolutely welcome 🙏
@@FullBoltOnGarage hey brother which breaks would I need for the nun M-breaks just the originals ??
or do these work on original calibers as well ??
Watching this once again! The best, friendliest mechanic ever! Thank you for all the knowledge sir!
Thank you for your video.
I got a 2019 BMW X5 and had a brake replacement at an auto shop.
The warning was gone, but after one month the brake light shows up again.
That auto shop could not reset the light.
So I tried myself in the diagnostic mode, but the reset option does not show in that mode.
Do you have any idea how to clear the brake light?
Love your videos mate so please keep them coming. Huge shoutout to your partner for following you all the way through. Can you please do a video on how you replaced the gear selector and the mod in your little storage area just above the OBD port? Many thanks again
Man this means a lot my brother. This is what inspires me to do more of this. I definitely will my brother. I appreciate the love and support please stay tuned🤜🤛
@@FullBoltOnGarage looking forward to see more videos 👍🏻 Lots of love from G30 community 🥰
Can you also use a screwdriver to push the pistons on the REAR caliper AFTER rolling back the electromechanical actuator? Or do you need a clamp or special tool
Excellent video, it really helped me to do the same job on my car. A 17mm spanner is easier than using vice grips and worth greasing the guide pins to. Many Thanks.
do you have to apply disc grease or copper grease? thank you
I need just read brake pads can you please send the link where I can get them for cheaper price but original pars
Thank you very much
Can you do this with BimmerCode also?
all with one hand!! awesome man.
Much much love my brother 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Does it not work to change the breaks wothout ODB?
Dude, you the man. ThankQ.
Absolutely welcome my friend!!!
Super helpful - thank you very much!
Very helpful! It seems the G30 no longer has the jacking points in the rear and front and only on 4 sides of the car...How did you manage to drain the oil from underneath? Thanks!
I just lift the front up on ramps!
Really good and well explained video buddy. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you very helpful.
Ugh, I just bought my car a few months ago and my brakes are starting to go. Unfortunately the warranty I have doesn’t cover them. Half the places I went to here in FL charge an arm and leg, but I’m thinking about doing them myself. Just need to get the proper tools. Nice video by the way!
Hey bro!! Where in Florida are you? I'll do it free for you bro. Just get the parts. I'm 25 away from Orlando area
@@FullBoltOnGarage Dude no way, you can’t be serious. I live in Ocoee, right outside of Orlando.
Brother I grew up in Ocoee. Went to ohs even lol!!! I'm by ucf 20 min from that!! Add me on ig and dm me let's do this brotha!! Bmw_540i_m
Excellent video
Thank you so much!!
Thanks man! I want to be able.to do.regular maintenance on my car! Bought one today
Hey brother thank you for the kind words! i appreciate your support
Nice video - thx! I'm about to do the pads and rotors on my '19 X5. Been reading some stuff saying that you should engage the parking brake when you're finished (before stepping on the brake pedal) to avoid an error/warning popping up on the dash. Any thoughts on that? Thanks again for the video.
Hey brotha!! I appreciate the kind words!! As for the stepping on brake I haven't heard of any such way. I've done many many and all with this process
Thanks again. Keep up the good work!
Good video helpful. I guess it's the same as other brakes and you can use the same sensor if not worn down to the sensor?
Thank you my friend! Very simple. No you can't reuse the same sensor unfortunately!
@@FullBoltOnGarage Never worn them out so far that the warning comes up so I've always used the same sensor on my E39's. That's enjoying having to replace them regardless of not touching the sensor. But great video thanks 👍😊
The things the E39 let us get away with LOL!! Still in my opinion best car ever built..thankfully for us there sensor is very cheap!
Yeah you can re-use the sensor as long as it’s not worn previously. It only can’t be reused it’s touched/worn out. Change the pads early enough and reuse it
do my bmw 530e se g30 will tell when to replace the brake pads? like message on dashboard?
thanks
Yes it will
What obd thing do you need.Where do you get it from
can you do a front brakes job as well, please???
Coming up next my brother!! Super simple
I bought Bimmer link for this specific reason on my lci g30 and I don’t see the option to put the parking brake in service mode . Any help?
It depends on your OBDII adapter and if you paid for the full version of Bimmerlink.
How do you remove the rear rotors as well? Thinking about upgrading to the r1 concepts rotors but the video doesn't show how to remove those.
I've made a video entirely dedicated to the rear! Just look up G30 rear brake pad replacement.
@@FullBoltOnGarage The video I am commenting on comes up when I search that. How do I remove the rotors?
Awesome video
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed bro
I want to do this job myself but I don’t have the app to push the piston back. Is it absolutely necessary for the app ? Can I just push the piston back with the special tool you have ?
Hey brother! The app is definitely required if not your rear emergency will lock in place unfortunately
There are a couple of ways of doing it without the app or without ISTA, but not really recommended.
You can remove the motors from the rear of the callipers and manually rewind the e brake with a torx bit, but you still have to push back the piston and you have to remember to wind the e brake back into position before attaching the motor again.
Another way is to apply 12v power to the pins in the plug terminal which will rewind the e brakes, and again, do the opposite to reset them.
Like I say, not really recommended especially if you aren't sure what you are doing. Best to get Bimmerlink or ISTA.
You the man
Appreciate you brother!!
Where is the maintenance schedules? For g30 540i 2017 (in the owners manual) ;p
The maintenance schedules aren't fixed, you will find them in the iDrive menu, which tells which service is due next and when.
How about brake fluid? Got a video on that?
Coming very soon
Ive watched this 5 times already
AWESOME!!! Stay tuned for more content. Full Lci taillight DIY. Plus a Blow OFF Valve install 😎
AWESOME!!! Stay tuned for more content. Full Lci taillight DIY. Plus a Blow OFF Valve install 😎
What kind of OBD are u using thanks.?
Obdlinklx
Do I always have to change the sensor or is it just enough to change the brake pads
Sensor is always required!
@@FullBoltOnGarage thank you bro!
Absolutely my friend!! Anytime
@@FullBoltOnGarage Sorry bro but I have one question more, do I need two sensors ?
No sir! Only 1 for the rear! Bmw figures if one side goes out the other will too so no need for 2 sensors!
Do I need the app to retract ? Or can I just unplug the sensor and compress piston ?
The app is highly recommend. If not the Auto H option has issues and wont engage after you compress. You will also have an idrive warning. It's best to use bimmerlink!
I purchased the port & the app. BimmerLink, however the app doesn’t have the icon for the brakes. Any idea why?
@@wassimnagoulat3690 no idea ...
I was able to put the car in diagnostic mode from the button on the speedo gauge .. but my car is a 17’ 340i .. so it’s push start .. press the start button 3 times fast , it’ll go in diag mode , leave it like that , and then I just took apart the plastic wheel well , unplugged the clip , got the caliper off , and got the motor off the caliper , twisted the electric motor back in with a 1/4” flat head screwdriver , did my brake pads and put a new sensor , and once I was done I started the car , and boom , CEL was gone
@@heightskings6693 F30 may be different from G30, and you maybe just push the start button once for diagnostic mode with those cars.
@@Ally.MacMillan I just used a 1/4” flat head to spin the piston back with the E-motor off
Does your rear brakes need sensors?
Yes just 1 sensor! It's on the passenger side.
Ok i see with Bimmercode it work very simple, i make an Adapter to turn the Piston back 😅 but it still work form me 😁👍
Anyone got a link for the front ones?
German czcams.com/video/N0UY2AuWP6w/video.html
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Is the process the same for the 2019 F90 M5?
Yes! Very identical and same deal. Straightforward job across all bmw units now.
Thank you so much!! Just need to do a pad hang to get rid of the new OEM dust bunny pads. Now I know I can do this myself
@jimsokolowski6103 Absolutely welcome my friend!! Thank you for watching and supporting 🙏
My 2021 530e G30 LCI has a different diagnostic manual. It's on the top rather than at the bottom. I need to do ' chassis dyno' and unlock code to reset the parking brake. The unlock code is the sum of last five digits of your VIN
Very good to know! This will help folks down the line forsure. Appreciate the feedback my friend ✅️
🙏
1/2 wrench on a bmw that has all metric bolts and screws.
1/2 inch are 13 mm are virtually identical, like 19 mm and 3/4 and 8 mm and 5/16.
Why open the reservoir? (understood) ✅
Bubbles can escape out
@@FullBoltOnGarage man I didn’t see that there is 2 pads that is longer at the hole and two without that cover ,, i Put the wrong side to the sensor … i installed the sensor without that cover :/ i have to remkve tomorrow
My brother it's funny you say this. My very first time I did the breaks I did the sane thing! Its all good...trial and error My brother 🙏
@@FullBoltOnGarage 😅😅 First time changing pads thanks for the instructions!!! I Should change it to the correct way right?
Absolutely my brother!!! Dm me on Facebook we can video chat and I'll walk you through the whole thing 🫡
One handed, left aswell. Very flash. DUDE.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ MUCH MUCH LOVE my brother!!!! Everything is possible 😉
Do the front bro
I have a video scheduled for next few weeks and I'll post the fronts too!
Before you change en you have to unlock the caliper thing ? In the back right ? And how you do it
Looks like you’ve been hitting the N.O.S. a few too many times. Lol
Just a tad 😎
can't you just push the piston back? it didn't look like it was turning so looks like all that tool did was push it back.
In service mode.
Yes, once the motor is wound back using the app or ISTA, you can then push the piston back using a variety of methods, this method is just one.
The pad wind back tool he is using is for many different cars, some of which have to turn to wind back, this tool does both.
Your Brake Disc Must be replaced too. A few little mistakes, but all in all good Video
Coming soon
And he did it one handed
I didn't think anyone would catch on!!!! Much love my friend 🙏🏻
nice video, but that break line is in pain :)
I couldn't agree more lol!! As much of a pain it is its definitely doable and saves that $1500+ "labor" stealership fees...
