    I would have a 5C collet system over the ER type any day, they are a pita. My reservations with a 5C on the Myford is the weight and hang out beyond the lathe nose.

    Same chuck I just bought, good quality. They don’t give you the bolt circle, but you can figure it out with a rotary table making a new back plate

    When you change collets there is a WHOLE lot of chuck key work... PITA. I made a key for a cordless drill to make it quick and easy.

    Very nice. I've considered getting an ER32 collet chuck for my Chinese Mini Lathe (King Canada 7x12), as I already have ER32 collets for my wood lathe collet chuck.

    I think you can get a cover for the collet holder which gives you a place to rest your hand when doing hand deburring on the lathe.
    Having said that, I've never seen one on a myford lathe.

    Hello Steve , thanks for the video ! 👍👍
    Amazing that one can still use ER collets with an adapter !
    Just in case you have such adapter, could you show it in a future video ?
    Cheers,
    Eddy.

    Steve what happened to your electric drill for screwing and unscrewing the Chuck's??

    That backplate sounds like cast iron, you should be careful when machining that stuff to cover the ways as the dust makes excellent grinding paste. Why go to 5c collets, I thought you already had a set of er32's courtesy of your mates at .....

    Hi there steve,
    Would this fit on a 115mm backplate?
    Can’t seem to get a 125mm one for less than £900.

    • @SteveJordan
      @SteveJordan  Před 3 lety

      Hi no you will need the 125mm one. The sellers on eBay put those prices on when they run out of stock. So they don't have to take the listing down. If you save to your watching page you should see when they come in when the price goes back down to normal. Regards Steve

      Steve Jordan wOW thanks for such a rapid response, I figured it would be too tight. But you have to ask. I wondered about the massive prices on eBay so have a few feelers out there. Just purchased myford capstan and cut off slide to do some commercial work so have started designing tool holder etc... finally the inspiration gained by watching your fearless construction of the most sublime accessories to your lathe is paying off.
