  • VSA light? Check Engine light? Engine shaking and running terribly?
    This is an easy fix that I found for the VSA light, with symptoms I experienced as laid out in the beginning of the video, with codes P2646 and P2647 on the scanner, plus the VSA light coming on and power lost with a limp mode type of shaking.

    Outstanding. My daughter had been sideswiped and the VSA light / engine chugging started happening right after. We thought it had to do with the wreck, but after searching CZcams and finding this video, my daughter fixed it in 10 seconds. Oil was very low, she added two quarts and voila! problem solved. The initial driving, after the oil change, maybe 20 miles getting up to 45 mph or so , in town local roads no issues. Still have to keep eye on it. next step maybe that screen and or sensor / o Ring.
    That sensor you had in your hand I think said Denso. which I think is the OE or about the only brand I would use to to replace it.

    Well figured out the main issue the VVT oil pressure switch was faulty reading 43 lb of pressure at the VVT spool ( located on the rear head driver side on the 05 on Odyssey) I overlooked it because I assumed more pressure is good lol not for a Honda.
    My van has 275,000 miles the VVT has never really worked properly since I've owned it a little over a year and it had okay power not very good gas mileage though.
    It had a severe oil leak coming from the front and rear valve cover so I replaced them did a valve lash, replace spark plugs let me tell you something this thing runs like it's brand new VVT worked excellent how about 2 days check engine light came on O2 sensor bank 1 which still ran perfect not the best gas mileage and the VVT was not working anymore but did not throw a light, not quite sure if it's just a fluke and went bad or if I overlook plugging something back in maybe a ground wire mind boggled about to start ripping back into it.
    I do not like the way it runs when the VVT turns on and burns oil so I'm going install a 87 ohm resistor at temperature control sensor to trick the ECM

    • @adamb84
      @adamb84 Před rokem

      That VTC or Vtec solenoid which usually has the oil pressure switch attached to it is very important to your car. You need it to be running. It controls your variable valve timing in your car. The VTC actuator gear, VTC solenoid and the front filter screen plus the actual Vtec solenoid which has the oil pressure switch attached to it controls all the valve timing 😳

Considering the vsa light can go off for something so simple as low tire pressure, and voltage deficiencies there's almost no easy fix except for this specific scenario...

      Astute observation. To answer your question, the easy fix for the scenario you outlined would be to fix the oil leak and replace the alternator. Oil and filter is new. Transmission fluid clear and new, new battery, new Denso alternator, new rack and pinion, new administrator arms, new power steering pump, new serpentine belt, new shocks and struts. I am going to get the codes checked again. First time, no codes came up. Friends are suggesting oil treatment. My car has 186,000 on it. I have a lot of money into it and don’t want to give up on it. I have had prior alternator issues and finally just put in a Denso. No more battery light coming on. Here is some history that will surely help...I did go too long between oil changes. I had it changed two weeks ago...obviously the CEL never went away. The CEL is triggering the VSA and limiting the rev to 2500 or under. I have disconnected the battery several times, and the CEL keeps coming back. I recently had the gasket replaced (5 months ago) at the oil filter mount bracket..that was leaking. There is no screen on this gasket, so there wouldn’t be a clog there. My guess is that the oil viscosity and/or low oil at one point triggered this CEL. Any suggestions you have will be highly appreciated. Thank you again.

      More: it has an “a” after the code and before the stuck rocker arm actuator. This means “bank 1” . One explanation is that it may be due to a voltage signal back from oil pressure switch.
      I got the CEL warning sometime after buying and installing a defective duralast alternator. Kept getting battery light. I just replaced it with a new Denso.
