    Bill my friend, I hope you’re feeling back to 100% soon. I’ve been watching this famous driveway of beautiful and sometimes novelty vehicles for over 3 or 4 years, when your bosses wife, the lovely and also funny in her own right, Maryanne, I believe her name is, would also review vehicles. As a matter of fact, she reviewed and test drove the w126 Mercedes Benz I bought from Autohause of Naples and had shipped to California. Me and Peter unfortunately exchanged a few unpleasant words about something trivial, an issue we would eventually work out in the end, so I have some experience in your circle.. I saw a few of your reviews and loved your style from the beginning and YOU were the reason I would purchase my first car, sight unseen and from another state! Intertwined in some of that rambling you give a a sense of sincerity. Believe it or not, I hear a lot of me in you, as I just turned 50 and I feel the same way you do on several fronts, it’s funny. So I’m familiar With every deep breath you take, I’m reminded of my own tenancy to do the same, to regroup my thoughts. I too am a rare animal like yourself who prefers cold and snowy over tropical and warm any day. I feel for ya. I lived in Philadelphia for 8 years so I’m familiar with the wet and uncomfortable humidity element. I just wanted to tell you to keep doing what you’re doing, you’re a mega wealth of information on the vehicles you review, that you earn the right to talk about the weather,animals, birds, Peter, Dalton and whiskey Corona hangovers for 10 minutes before you “dive into” the actual review.. absolutely.. Life’s too short, go to that cool place you so desire! In the meantime if Peter ever permits you to have an assistant, a camera guy, I’m your man! Keep it moving buddy..

    First visit to Curious. You captured the essence of this car and really showed why it's one of the best sedans ever put on the road. I've had my 2008 XJ since 2010. Never kept a car half this long but it's just near impossible to part with.
    The way to eliminate the air suspension is to go with a Strutmaster. (or A similar brand if it exists) Not terribly expensive and handles even better than the original. Almost to Bimmer level. I've been a BMW guy since 1970. But thirteen years into this car is a testament.
    I manually shift about 90% of the time and it is a Beast. The torque you get out of these gears changes the entire picture.
    Thanks for the great review. You reminded me to appreciate some features I don't even think about.🎉😂❤ carry on!

    I had one of to those, until about three years ago. I now own the updated XJ Portfolio model. Obviously, the steering wheel is on the other side (I’m English), at first I wondered why I had bought something so radically different. Now I love it. They had this motto - space grace & pace. The XJ X351 has it all in spades.

    Mine is the XJ6 in this colour and it’s absolutely insanely comfortable. A real freeway muncher. I get 29 mpg without too much bother. Thanks for the video Bill. You’re right in that it is the last classic jaguar shape. Now let me just say it is Jag-you-are. But I still love the way you say jagwaar. You’re the best mate.

    There was also the X308 between this and the XJ40, which returned to the more traditional XJ shape. Also, in the UK we had Sovereign and Daimler specs, so it would be interesting to know how the VdP compared.

      @aubs400 Před 2 lety +3

      I believe VdP was basically the Daimler spec in territories where Jag didn't/couldn't use the name

      @@aubs400 VDP was the Sovereign in the 'States.

    I have two Jag VDP sedans..a 2001 and a 2002...the body style before this one. Love them both, and both are surprisingly reliable. Ford fixed a LOT of the Jag gremlins and should be commended for what they did during their tenure of owning the brand. I remember when the bodystyle showcased here was introduced in 2004...a lot of wags suggested that it looked like an upmarket Taurus and not a Jag. I believe this design is aging much better than anyone expected. Despite their flaws...there is NOTHING like a Jaguar, and I am thrilled every time I drive them.

      Considering the prices they go for, i assume the repair costs are high in comparison to other cars. Its a trade-off i suppose for owning such an elegant machine.

    My grandma had this same jag but hers was sliver. She loved the style and the ride of this vehicle. My grandfather thought it was a over price Ford and he was just fine with is old 1974 Ford Explorer pickup. I guess if grandfather was still alive today and knew that I was driving a BMW 5 series he probably would say why are you so much like your grandmother? The Ultimate Driving Machine my butt … Buy American 🇺🇸! …lol
    I sure miss my grandparents because they taught me all about the love and freedom of a good road trip. Great memories and Great review Bill keep them coming.

    Greetings from Gainesville. We're enjoying the last hint of decent weather until full sauna mode kicks in.
    When you go missing for more than a week I worry that the bunnies finally bit your Achilles tendon and left you for the birds to finish off.

    I have one of these, an XKR `07, and a `95 XJ12 and I love them all each for its own characteristics. BTW I grew up in Orlando and I love St. Augustine as well.
