I play on the split screen but those character pictures on the side takes too much space and serves no purpose at all. Any idea if I can remove those ?

Yes u need 2 PS accounts in the same Playstaion. When my nephew comes over he just signs into my PS5 with his account so we both can play spilt screen.

Make sure both controllers are assigned to each user. If not go then restart PS and try again.

Actually, in the latest update April 2024, Fortnite said they temporarily removed split screen play

It doesn't work. It just shows up with the screen logging in and it takes forever, but seriously doesn't log in.

Close Fortnite then reopen and try again if no go then restart then try again. Also make sure each controller is logged into each different user account
