What a save, indeed! First thought, Gordon Banks-esque. Second thought, more Schmeichel v Rapid Vienna. Banks' save was actually behind him and he clawed it out at full stretch.
Our goalie saved the game in the last possible second, in the 94th minute, with that impossible save. He is as much a hero as Demiral is. That was the save of the year.
Banks had the momentum when he saved it. This one is better, Mert was moving in one direction and than he had to save it in other direction combined with blitz reflexes and prediction 🥶
To explain the result with passionate defending alone would miss the tactical aspect. As Gregoritsch said after the game, Austrians did not expect the opponent to start with 5-men backline, which a) in defense, diminished the effect of Austria's usual pressing, b) in offense, allowed to push Turkish wing-backs forward to build up play and relieve the center. Turkish team looked exceptionally disciplined. Considering that the second half was mostly one-sided, finishing ~100 minutes of gameplay with only 5 fouls is quite impressive. As for the goals scored, clearly from the drawing board. There was another corner kick in the first half, which Güler aimed exactly at the same spot in front of near post.
Relatively Banks had a smaller area to cover, he was in the same half of the goal with the ball. Gunok was moving in the opposite direction when the header came in and he was on the other half of the goal.
Basically , this is football , it does not mean anything without emotions , we are very emotional as society ( I am Turkish as well) , however that brings us an advantage in such games , Austria is a very good team , well structured , having a solid system , but they did not expect such passion from the other side , and please consider Turkey or Turkish teams have been always problematic for Austrian teams

I think there's no team as overhyped as Austria. It seems they mistook Turkey for Poland or Albania or smth. (no offense to polish and albanian friends) Turkish team hasn't gotten this far by luck. I dont want any misunderstandings either. I watched all Austria's group stage matches. When they beat the Netherlands, i was happy as an Austrian. I hope we'll beat them too.
Turkey will be on his peak in 10 years, when especially Arda - Semih - Kenan - Can Uzun is about 28-29 and 4-5 players from the European Championship squad (like Baris or Orkun) on their 32-33. Its to early for this tournament, but sure its football and you never know.
Austria team, coach and fans literally snobbed Turkish team and their stars. (check all interviews) They were very confident that they will win, they bragged about Turkiye is an easy pie. That Gordon Banks-esque historic last minute save and camera zoomed to the Austrian footballers' face, showed the desperation and lost hopes and regrets. Don't forget the superstar Arda Guler's assists and 2 goals of Merih. Never underestimate your rival. Some of Turkish new footballers born and raised in Austria-Germany- Holland etc. many different European countries and probably it effects their motivation. Austria learnt the hard lesson of not to look down + see the rival team small...
yea a lot of turkish players are born in europe, because their country is in shambles, nationalistic as shown with the grey wolf sign - disgusting, fanatic and becomes religious more extrem every day, inflation is destroying everything and they vote still for Erdogan, a paradox "culture".
I fail to see the brilliant game of Turkey. They had 5 shots on goal, Austria 21. If Austria wins the game, no one would say that the Turkey's matchplan was genius. They scored an early goal and then defended with 11 men in the penalty area. That seems to be a very basic tactical effort.
If Austria had won, a handful of people would have been happy. Türkiye, on the other hand, brought Europe, Asia and America to their feet. That's why football is god!
After watching the post-match press interview of Austrian coach, I have to say that the result is good for Austria. It might be a bigger disaster. Austrian coach ls a funny day dreamer.
Austria does not have talented players, they have flat team players. Austria's only weapon is pressing and frontline pressure. When Turkey broke Austria's press, Austria became an ordinary team. Also the Austrian coach Rangnick and his players underestimated Turkey too much and thought that they would get through anyway. Rangnick did not do his homework and paid a heavy price.
Btw despite Austria is next to Germany and have alot in common like language and such, all that Turkish supporters you've seen are Turks living in Germany and Europe. Normal Turkey resident Turks 99% of them could not come to watch the games cause all tourist visas get declined in the last 2 years recently. You can find many videos about it. So because Turks in Europe has another level of supporters with all those emotions.
it was fault of rangnick, he didnt give enough attention for turkey. in group stage games team plays with their standart formations ofc but in knockout rounds team will change formations for opponents' weakness. gregoritsch said after the game, we didnt expect turkey play with 5 chains in back. you are the favourite part on paper ofc, turkey will have plans for your weakness. even though Calhanoglu's suspension turkey played with good strategy. exactly same 2 corner goals also show that how much attention montella gives for Austria and how much attention rangnick give for turkey.

You can, and you should, absolutely blame Berhalter for that red card! This is the second time something like this happens in less than 7 months (remember the Dest red card in a similar situation v. Trinidad?). The players basically decided to keep him at the helm after the controversy and the expiration of his contract, because they feel "comfortable" with him. And, by now, it has become painfully clear that he doesn't have authority over this corps of players. . . He should be out! Berhalter should've been out!
Turkish fans are always arrogant, Erdogan transformed their culture into being Turkish Naz*s, a lost society, 100%inflation, heavy poverty incoming and religious fanatism will destroy everything they have.
Turkey knocked Austria out by Austria beating themselves once again. Austria has had the same issue all EUROs long, namely the defense being a disorganized mess, lacking passing quality, and not converting their chances to goals. It's always the same and it has been very frustrating to watch. Of course the save of the Turkish GK in the last moments of the game was epic, but Austria should have scored multiple goals before that. Today I woke up and was like "I can't believe that really happened".
@@orbit1894 Turkey did do everything right, but it was not up to them. Turkey did nothing for 85 % of the game, they got a lucky goal (it was basically an own goal of Austria) in the 1st minute and then defended with everything they had. Even if Turkey had a game plan, it went out of the window after the 1st minute. Austria played their game the way they always do and when you look at the statistics it was actually the most "Austria-style" game of all games at the EUROs, they had an xG of 3.1 compared to the 0.9 of Turkey. That alone says everything when you look at the other games Austria played where they usually overperformed their xG. Austria did not fail because of Turkey, they failed because of themselves. And of course that great save by the Turkish GK in the last minute.

@@drsabanotubozuk You are right, there isn't one, there are millions. If they played this game 100 times Austria would win it 95 of those times. Türkiye's coach's squad selection was problematic, his offensive plan was terrible, but he won despite all of this. How did they win? With 2 goals from corners and a competitive play in the midfield. Moreover, since Türkiye had more technical players, it was able to keep the ball at its feet and maintain its scoring advantage. Austria could not make enough attacks. He couldn't take advantage of the chances he had. I wrote everywhere that if they played 10 times, Austria would win 9 of them. Let's be realistic, as a Turk, I think so. Most people comment based on the score. You will understand the truth when the Netherlands crushes Turkey.
Austria did well to bring together a good team and play head to head. Congratulations on their success in this tournament. Turkey is a much bigger country with a more broad and diverse range of skills and resources. The result is not surprising.

The Turkish team is young and talented, and it's certain that we will enjoy watching this generation in future tournaments as well.
What a save, indeed!
First thought, Gordon Banks-esque. Second thought, more Schmeichel v Rapid Vienna.
Banks' save was actually behind him and he clawed it out at full stretch.
Yes on all counts! Always blows my mind that Banks had just started to go the wrong way when Pele headed the ball.
First minute goal rock Austrian players
You guys know football. I will give you that.
Ha! This game was Pickford's natural environment.
Brilliant fun, more please.
Relatively Banks had a smaller area to cover, he was in the same half of the goal with the ball. Gunok was moving in the opposite direction when the header came in and he was on the other half of the goal.
Love the video mate. Great analysis. Greetings from Turkey.
Great game analysis I enjoyed watching
Basically , this is football , it does not mean anything without emotions , we are very emotional as society ( I am Turkish as well) , however that brings us an advantage in such games , Austria is a very good team , well structured , having a solid system , but they did not expect such passion from the other side , and please consider Turkey or Turkish teams have been always problematic for Austrian teams
I think if you look closely Turkey has beaten Austria when it comes to tournament games, beat Austria 6-0 in WC 2002 Playoffs, and also defeating Austria in the Euro 2012 qualifiers 2-0. So please look up your footballing history.

Very entertaining podcast!! Well done lads! Go Türkiye 🇹🇷
As a Turkish fan, we may not be the best team in the tournament. But we are definitely who wants it the most. I wouldnt be surprised if our boys made it to the final.
Also, the ban to Merih for the hand sign is ridiculous. Shame on UEFA.

As a City fan, I pray Foden gets dropped. England are definitely getting knocked out against Switzerland and if he plays he'll get all the blame.

Bravo to this comment section!
The Turks are knocking on the gates of Europe once again🔥🔥🔥
Turkey playing football .
Wow Andy is so bad, kills the vibe
I fail to see the brilliant game of Turkey. They had 5 shots on goal, Austria 21. If Austria wins the game, no one would say that the Turkey's matchplan was genius. They scored an early goal and then defended with 11 men in the penalty area. That seems to be a very basic tactical effort.
If Austria had won, a handful of people would have been happy. Türkiye, on the other hand, brought Europe, Asia and America to their feet. That's why football is god!
👏🏻
Southgate will pick as close to the same team as possible, suspension and fitness permitting.
After watching the post-match press interview of Austrian coach, I have to say that the result is good for Austria. It might be a bigger disaster. Austrian coach ls a funny day dreamer.
That referee had reportedly refereed 6 games before that (in his career). I have not fact checked that, though.
Bro it was a clean match.
Czech vs turkey match was a car crash czech gets red card at the start and 11 yellows for turkey 11?!?!?
As one of the greatest football managers in the world Fatih Terim once said: “look at the tabela” 2-1. End of discussion! 👋 Austria
it was fault of rangnick, he didnt give enough attention for turkey. in group stage games team plays with their standart formations ofc but in knockout rounds team will change formations for opponents' weakness. gregoritsch said after the game, we didnt expect turkey play with 5 chains in back. you are the favourite part on paper ofc, turkey will have plans for your weakness. even though Calhanoglu's suspension turkey played with good strategy. exactly same 2 corner goals also show that how much attention montella gives for Austria and how much attention rangnick give for turkey.

Arrogant Austrians got a big lesson they will not forget for a while. Did Turkey play well? Hell No, but they played with their Hearts. Did Austria try and never gave up until the 95th min? Absolutely. Let's say, the Luck was on Turkey's side. Better be lucky than good I guess. Congrats to both Teams for presenting us a game that will not be forgotten for a long time. Let's what Swiss will do this weekend. They surely deserve to go higher in this tournament. Wow brots talking bout football. The game is 90 minutes and at the end England looses

Sonuç beyler 1:2 egonuzu yesinler😅 Türkiye sizi atı 🇹🇷💪😁
Turkey knocked Austria out by Austria beating themselves once again. Austria has had the same issue all EUROs long, namely the defense being a disorganized mess, lacking passing quality, and not converting their chances to goals. It's always the same and it has been very frustrating to watch. Of course the save of the Turkish GK in the last moments of the game was epic, but Austria should have scored multiple goals before that. Today I woke up and was like "I can't believe that really happened".
Turkey did everything right. Cut them some slack, Austria couldn't play their own game due to the Turkish game plan.
@@MrReeseoh le jaloux ! On a gagné, non? Alors ferme ta grande bouche de raciste. Les plus beaux buts, le meilleur arrêt de gardien, sont dans les matchs de la Turquie. Ah ça vous enrage que les Turcs ont dégagé tes cousins racistes comme toi. On a gagné, alors ferme ta grande bouche.🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🤣🤣😂🤘
@@MrReesethere isnt one parallel universe where austria could win the game. Even with the 1stminute goal. Turkey controlled most of the game. The only bit austria was threateng was 30-35 and 70-80. Turkey had 1-2 subs due to injury. Did you see that turkiah bench? Barış alper outpaced a subbed-in austrian defense and managed a shot just before that last save by the turkiah goalie. Did you check the turkish teams offensive stats? No way austria could’ve won that game.
@@drsabanotubozuk You are right, there isn't one, there are millions. If they played this game 100 times Austria would win it 95 of those times. Turkey did not control a single thing in this game, Austria beat themselves and it was obvious from the eye-test as well as the stats. The better team does not always win and there is zero question about who the better team was.

There’s no way that only gets saved 6 times in a 100. Slow and within his arm span
Austria's overrated, the higher you fly the harder you'll fall.

That hand gesture has nothing to do with racism or fascism. In the narrowest sense, it is the gesture of a political party, and to define it more accurately, it is simply the Grey Wolf gesture, which is a symbol of the Turks. It has no political meaning. Just as the rooster is the symbol of France and the lion is the symbol of England, the Grey Wolf is the symbol of the Turks, and this gesture symbolizes the Grey Wolf. All Turks and Kurds in my country are brothers.
