What an innings by Fakhar Zaman, just gave life to Pakistan team in this World Cup. I thought he would have easily scored double hundred had the rain stopped. Babar also played a risk free innings but he doesn’t deserve the criticism for the team’s losses. They showed what they are capable but surprised their bowlers are struggling except for Wasim. Never drop this guy. If the team environment was good he didn’t need to get dropped to regain confidence. He just needed to feel secure and clarity. This is where team management is important
bro unfortunately he just got dropped after the first game because the chief selector inzi supported The Parchi Imam
He was playing BAD and that's why he was dropped and it was completely justified. His technique is very bad but on pitches where the ball doesn't do much, he can be a very destructive force because he has something that everybody in Pak batting is lacking that is ability to hit sixes at will, powerful striker , counter attacking player.
Imam is a technically sound batsman and his selection isn't "parchi". Anyone who knows cricket knows he is a talented deserving player , however he has problems that he needs to work out (like Short Ball, and not throwing away his wicket once he's set etc) before he can make a comeback into the team.
All in all Fakhar is like Sehwag (technically lacking but explosive) and we need him right now but in future we need to develop openers like Rohit Sharma who can hit and are also technically very sound.
Great innings by Fakhar today though , single handedly won this match.

Imam career strike rate in ODIs is 82, its a sin as an opener. 😂
If today he was playing the match I doubt he could have hit one six, even in previous matches whenever he tried to go over the rope he did miss-hit the ball and went out.
Fakhar is an impact player, whenever he starts well, he takes away the game from the opponents.
After first match of Abdullah they just had to change opening pair by re-adding Fakhar and benching a guy that cannot provide a start and always plays run a ball, they should have looked at the impact and not average of a player, especially in Indian pitches as we had already three technically solid batsman in which only one (Abdullah) can play a long inning and play according to the situation while creating an impact.
Whenever we won or lost, Imam never had a great impact on the match and made the situation difficult for other batters in the team unless the pitch was a tricky one. 😅
I always taught from the first match of Abdullah as an opener that Imam doesn't deserve to be there as he is far better and capable of him!

Fakhar is a heavy bottom handed player. Strong wrists and forearms. And he hammers the ball literally, the way he swings the bat and his left shoulder comes forward. A genuine "Hathoda-maar" player. He looked unstoppable, was connecting very well. NZ spinners were equally helpful.
I reckon back of the length or slower bouncers would have worked much better. But, yeah he was in great mindset.

I'm from India, this is only show on post match analysis I watch for this world cup, the success of Indian pacer is because of test cricket, when it comes to Indian pitches usually these are not conducive to pacers thus only pace doesn't matter, lot of variations are needed and all these Indian pacers are consistently playing test cricket (bumrah missed few years because of injury but still he has enough experience). And any all time favourite cricket team is incomplete without the great Wasim Akram, and he is the reason to watch this show no nonsense only pure cricketing analysis.

-Its painstaking why Imam ul haq was not replaced by fakhar earlier on, and by now Pk would have aldy qualified for the SF since they would have def won the matches vs SA and potentially afgh. (Having watched the Pk matches in chennai and bglore) its crystal clear Imam ul haq shd be dropped (no disrespect needs to work on his batting scores if he wants to comeback) and Fakhar Zaman should NEVER be dropped from Pk ODI / T-20 teams.

Panelists didn't fathom the audacious relentless clean hitting of him while comparing with babar, even trying to compare would be tarnishing this sheer beauty!! This was pristine one of its kind, only comparable with harshal gibs in 434 chase and just a few others bcz here opponent was new Zealand not some scotland or ireland!!

Probably cricket fans missed a first 300 by a batsman in an one day match!!!
Fortunately for NZ the match ended on D/L method!!! The bowlers looked too ordinary and it seemed Pak would have finished the match easily without losing any further wicket.

Both openers of Newzealand were nervous when they started batting. Conway played Shaheen very carefully in the first over to see if the ball was swinging. Shaheen and Hassan was bowling on 129-130 KPH in early overs. that low pace bowling gave Newzealand a fresh start, and when Kane Williamson came to the crease and started playing on 100+ strike rate, that gave Newzealand a chance to reach a total of 401. We should not only blame Pak bowling, but also give credit to Newzealand Batsmen, they were batting very well. Newzealand would have scored 350 against any bowling attack on this pitch.
When Pakistan came to bat in the second innings, this chase was on. Fakhar's 126*(81) was the limelight in this chase but we should not forget that sensible inning of Babar Azam after the fall of first wicket. Abdullah Shafique is a brilliant player and doesn't throw his wicket so quick, but I think that 402 target was going in his head and forced him to play that shot.
