It works best if you apply the powder dye directly on the ice instead of using liquid dye on the ice :)

I like both techniques! They're just different. The liquid dye is more subtle and watercolory. I'll try it!

Can you apply the color directly on the shirt and then put some ice above it? so you can get that wet effect?
I love the darker pillow cases. The almost look like marble. Mine and my boyfriends room is fairly neutral, I think these pillowcases could really jazz it up! Thank you!

I remember when I first saw your videos, almost 4 years ago. you were the first youtuber I started watching regularly and once I got an account, the first youtuber I subscribed to! I can't believe it was 4 years ago, I think you had 60,000 subs not even!!! it's so cool to see a channel grow in to a huge success!!

The pillow cases looked the best! Good job!
If you want to get rid of the extra colours, or maybe the colour on the shirt is to strong for your liking. Than you could bath each shirt in a bowl of water and add salt to it. This will help get rid of any colour that hasn't been used up or get rid of some colours. Remember to do this before you wash it inside the washing machine. If you don't than all you other shirts that are in the washing machine, will be tie dyed too.

This is the ONLY video that shows liquid dye-- that is all i have right now. Thank you, I feel better about not having to buy more dye-- and i feel MUCH better about using liquid-- the fabric will not be worn so I am not worried about loss of color later on.

These shirts are SO COOL. I usually dislike watching tie-dye videos but this one was AMAZINGLY different! I'm so trying this out when my parents let me I'm 13 and they're strict and don't really like it when I get crafty for some reason... actually that's only my mom...
This method actually works best with powder dyes that haven't been mixed with water
It gives more vibrant results
I really like the yellow on the blue pillow cases

Just thought I'd let you know your really good at explaining each step. It's really easy to understand what your talking about. Sometimes in DIY videos I'm like "ok well I only understood like 60% of that"
And what other dye could I use cause the sets of dye are pretty expensive

I liked the pastel colors you got with liquid dyes and ice. They don't look like old-fashioned tye dyes.
Soda Ash Dye Fixer works as a mordant. It keeps reactive dyes from fading. Tulip One Step Fashion Dye already has the Soda Ash mixed in. Sometimes salt and/or vinegar can be used as a mordant.Procion MX dyes are used in Tulip dyes and make the brightest colors at high temperatures of around 100 degrees.

The soda ash is actually the fixative for fiber-reactive dyes like the tulip sets. If you don't use it the dye will color the fabric but will wash out quickly.

another way to do it which will make the colours super vibrant is pouring the powder on the ice itself dylon die works best and it has amazing effects

My cat loves ice cubes too!! Except, he eats it! One time it got stuck to his tongue. Lol! I loved this diy! I might try this out. Love the final product.

Those look awesome! Whenever I use package dye like that from Michael's or something it always looks bright but dries so dull and faded. Maybe adding more soda ash then what comes with the kit? I haven't even left the dye a couple days and I still get really faded colors.

It turns out a lot better with powder dye, that's the point of the ice to wet the powder. The ice is pointless in this video because the dye is already wet. Dylon powder dye is great for ice dye.
