You have a dog now? AWESOME! You will have fun! I have this kit that came with the Rolls Royce, I think it should be yours, LOL! You need more. Have fun with this build, can't wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks for sharing your progress Matthew. Kits from back then definitely could be a challenge to build. Overall they were pretty good but there was always a part or 3 that just didn't want to cooperate. Back then I didn't have all the building tools like I have now so I had to improvise. Sometimes it worked out but sometimes I just had to live with the results I got. Looking forward to the next progress video. Have fun on your vacation and be safe! 👍👍

Nice kit Matt!!! Love to see your build of this kit. I have the same kit built that I bought at a show about twenty years ago. Enjoy your vacation with your family. All of you stay safe and stay well.

This is a great kit. I had two. One I built original & the other I turned into my first street rod. My first attempt at chopping a top.

I love your closing music. Ebay has a couple of those '30 Ford Coupes. I saw bids of $19.99 and $11.99, in case you're interested.

Matthew, I just compared yours to my original 1962 issue, and the issue with the roof pillars is essential the same.

Older kits can present fitting opportunities, but that's all part of the challenge for me. The only thing that would improve that kit would be a sbc engine!! lol Have a great vacation!

I have one I built some time in the mid ‘70’s that I built for my dad plus a hand full of the monogram, classic like the Duisenberg’s. I’ve picked up kits of all of them as I plan on rebuilding them in honor of my dad someday. Looking forward to watching more of this build.

Matthew, try going to a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels and look for some copper embossing foil it's super easy to bend and can trim it to shape with scissors and you can make the ignition leads to each spark plug from the distributor and can't get more realistic than actual copper sheet. On my build I removed the package tray and to fit the top better I use a single sheet of 400 grit sandpaper and lay it with the smooth side against the body and the sanding surface against the bottom of the top along the back edge and sanding front to back it will remove material from the area along the top only that is out of alignment with the curvature of the body. You might try lightly taking a #11 blade point and with the fenders in place scribe a extremely light line at the junction of the rear fender and the body there was enough of a little shelf that I was able to use some of the Flexi-File little square sanding sticks and remove just enough of the fender to get the body and fenders to fit without any visible gaps or any sign that material was removed from the fender edge to make openings the same curve. Build on I think you are really gonna get a lot of fun with this little gem from the past. Oh yeah, I got one of mine a year or so ago when Revell released them again

It would be interesting to compare an original issue kit to this mid 70s issue. I wonder how much the tooling may have worn out after a decade or so of mass production.

Did the coupes also have the flip out windscreens? That would look proper to have the space at the bottom and take the focus of the cowl fit.

The original models were sculptures of wood and clay in 1/10 scale. Every single part. Then, they used a Pantagraph to cut the mold. Occasionally, those model bucks show up on eBay

The old kits were carved in wood .that kit was carved in 1/12 scale and reduced to 1/24 when mold is machined using wood model as a buck .

Just checked pics of 1930 model a coupes. The windshield frames were'nt chrome. Always painted. Strip the chrome and glue it in before painting?
