@@OTRBandit as you know, I’m a stanch Christian. But I served in the Navy and in the trucking industry. I don’t curse, but hold no ill regard for someone that does.
Walmart does charge if your early BUT, they will take you an hour early with no penalties in all the ones I have visited, there is also one good thing about Walmart too, they run a 12/12 (noon to midnight-midnight to noon) if you should be running late they have a decent grace period. I can never seem to grasp the concept of temporary pavement and why they can not lay it down in such a manner that it will not throw the steers left and right or try to shift and twist the vehicle, maybe it’s what my father taught me “if you do something, do it right or don’t bother doing it at all” 40 through there is spectacular visually speaking, one of the worst to me is 68 through WVA, PA, MD, especially when your at gross, you lose so much freaking time but it too has some pretty steep ascends and descends. Safe travels bro !!
I’ve done 68 few times but only when I’m under 20K. If I’m over that I’ll take the turnpike though PA and back down to Baltimore. I also hate 77 through WV. You’re right, Walmart will let you come in one hour early. But sometimes you can call them ahead and reschedule without penalty. I’ve done that in Saint James, MO and somewhere in western Texas.
A great video. The last time I stopped at that scale it was night time almost every truck was going by. The scale at the end of the video. That scale house worker came out and looked at my front tires weight ratings. And each tire was rated at six thousand pounds. I had to get two new tires from the loves just over the other side of the hill. I had to get tires rated at seven thousand pounds each. I couldn't move any additional weight off of the steer axle. I was under gross by three thousand pounds. I had weighed the truck after getting loaded. If you ever have over twelve thousand on the front axle the tires must be rated at over six thousand pounds each. I had two tanks of diesel and that made the front axle heavy with the freight.
I ran into that in Washington state. Promised to get the 7,000 pound rated and never did. I always kept my fifth wheel set to stay at 13,000 pounds when loaded. It’s easier to burn fuel than to cut a load. Or even get it reloaded heavier to the trailer.
