It’s the new mayor in Valemount ❤ I give him all the credit. He’s been fantastic to work with for everyone. Shout out to Owen Torgerson!
Little did you know that there’s another hidden Gem just down the road in McBride! The Robson Valley is really starting to embrace the mtb scene (25 years after we started!) so glad you made a video of Vale!
Thanks 🎉
Well you need to keep Tumbler Ridge on your radar. Valemount is amazing and we are replicating what they have done! Tumbler Ridge has great snowmobiling, hikes to over 40 waterfalls. Tumbler Ridge Mountain Bike Association is working hard to put the north on the map for epic biking. TRMBA built a pumptrack in the community with Velosolutions. First pumptrack in Northern bc! and surrounding community's are starting to catch on. The District of Tumbler Ridge has been very supportive with biking infrastructure by allowing builds on the land for the pumptrack and funding the jump park with Axis Mountain Techincal. The ridge project broke ground last year with trials on designated land. Phase 1 completed with 1 up trail and 2 down trails. Master plan slated for a 3.5 million dollar project as funding permits. Sorry for the shameless plug but there is alot of great riding to be had in northern bc.
Awesome! I make the trip to tumbler a few times a year for the sledding, might have to keep an eye open!
I'll piggyback your comment and mention Dawson Creek as well. We don't have a ton of vertical but make up for it with a fun little trail network at Bear Mountain
Awesome video. I'm in Calgary now, and it blows my mind that we have nothing for riding. Furthermore, they announced they are logging Moose Mountain and West Bragg Creek. I had family in Valemount growing up, and the change there is truly amazing. It's an example of sustainable development that deserves recognition! Thanks for the vid 🍻
Dawg Canmore is infested with mtb trails
@@AFilmByLiamWhite
Dawg, Canmore isn't Calgary
the Bow valley is super underdeveloped for mtb trails
@@ryangregohara brooooo whattttttt
@@Xxyter2 it’s an hour away and it’s world class mountain biking soo…
I'm in Lakeview, OR, a town if 2500 in rural southern Oregon. We are currently in the very early phases of getting mountain bike trails on our county-owned ski hill. As the guy spearheading the project I really enjoyed this video, was great to see an even smaller community putting something like this togerther. I'd love to have you check out our hill when we get it going!
Thats so nice to see.
We live in a small town in east germany and we fought 20 years with the red table and the cityhall dinosaurs to get our trail Center despite the fact that we the oldest downhill race track from germany since the early 90s. It took two generations of riders to get it finally done. Best regards from Thuringia. ❤
In the 90s I built a race course for training in my town park, One spring we were cleaning up to ride it and the park ranger walked up and commented that she never knew this trail was here. LOL we said, "yeah, it;s fun to ride"
Love Valemount.
If you're on this channel, we already know that MTB can be high risk - this park is on the higher end of that spectrum. Full face helmets recommended.
Great video! I love how communities around BC are embracing the sport as an economic driver for local business. Already shared with riding buddies, we will go check it out and be sure to hit the shops and brewery
This is definitely not my region for biking, but the videos are just so much fun to watch. 😊
Greetings from Germany ✌🏻
Yeah can confirm Valemount is sick for MTB!!
The bike park is amazing! thank you trail builders🤝
That's about the best thing I've seen on CZcams all year. I love the fact that a small town just went ahead and did this.
This got me stoked to go there Valemount! Thanks Loam Ranger!
Valemount is unreal. Camping, exploring and riding are next level.
You know it's gonna be a good day when the loam ranger posts! Love ur stuff man!
Valemount is awesome. Couldn't believe how good their trail system was when I first went. And that was 5 years ago. Side note - my partner snapped her wrist there too and now has a titanium plat and screws.
Looks FANTASTIC!
Me and the wife rode Valemount August 2 years ago. And we LOVED it.
Great video. Valemount has been a go to for us for hiking + snow machine for some time but I guess we'll have to take the MTBs along next time as well.. MTB has really changed the appeal of many small out-of-the-way places. Valemount has done amazing work
Been to Valemount once for work, from Calgary. Have been wanting to go back for a riding trip and this just confirms it! On the list for this season for sure.
I live in Valemount and my son regularly used the mountain bike park as a teenager. I drove he and his friends to the top of the trails many times so they could fly down the trails at top speed. Watching the video just now made my eyes go big a few times because I had no idea how challenging and high speed it was to come down these trails. Incredible footage.
Also the first image in the video after you come off your first run is of our farm on Buffalo Rd. 😊
riding in autumn is literally the best
Probably the best mtb experience of my life. Did a solo trip there, and was unbelievable memories. The shuttle was closed but everyone kept offering each other rides, it was awesome. Plus I camped on canoe mountain, which was incredible.
Sick video! I love your video quality and your pov’s are absolutely breathtaking. I have always wanted to go to BC but I live in Australia.
jesus this place looks awesome. BC has that really amazing dirt. lovely
That place looks amazing!!!!
Valemount is such a great place to visit summer or winter. The town itself and all the people there I’ve met have great vibes.
Sweet vid! Valemount has been on my radar as a "must visit" destination for a few years now... Hopefully I'll get there sooner rather than later!
Hope Beth is recovering well - concussions can be NASTY!
This is literally the coolest destination spot in the Robson Valley. The backpacking and cabins in the area are some of the best I've ever been in. There are incredible backcountry skiing locals too. Valemount has been an absolute FORCE for tourism in the Valley, its insane.
Just need a climbing scene and they'll have the trifecta of summer stuff alongside the trifecta of winter stuff they already have.
been waiting for this one! thanks for the shuttle and laughs
I rode there like 5 years ago, probably before all the development. So cool to see all this! So epic!
Bikefest 2024! Get your tickets and have a blast!
Rode there last summer. The trails are fantastic and the town is pretty cool too.
awesome, they are setting the bar high! It's inspiring to see it happen there, trying to get the same thing going here on Haida Gwaii
Classical music in an MTB video. ❤
Love it!
Also the rest of the video and the park…. But yay for doing things differently.
There is more then a 1000 people that live there lol been there more then once going home to the okanogon from the great white North!
Awesome video & thank you for sharing with All of us CZcams viewers
Looks great. If you are East you should visit another world class bike park in the middle of nowhere, no fast food for miles nor much of anything. Wheelerville, NY has done an outstanding job with their terrain. A magical and magnificent place to ride.
So glad you made it out there! Its really a great place to ride. That wall ride on Moby still gives me the hee-bie-jee-bies... dislocated finger ftl.
Awsome video, I rode there last summer on a cross bc bike trip. First time on the high roller trail, my buddy said the log “roll” was a drop so I popped off of it and landed so deep that it blew my right fork seal.
The park itself was super unique. Would totally go back and ride.
Should look into the story of derby here in Australia if you havent. Very similar history of a small town being resurrected by the community getting behind mountain biking including having the redbull hardline recently in tasmania. Is definitely a great place to ride here in the southern hemisphere
Love the channel! You should try some of the tech trails on the swift side!
I would never have ventured to Valemount if it wasnt for content creators showing it off. Truely awesome trails and super nice people! The wood log bakery (whats the name?) is amazing when its open!
Great Video! Vale is on the list of "must ride" bike parks after watching this. Its been a minutes since we've seen you here at Whitefish Mountain Bike Park. Would love to have you back! Let us know if you get back out this way! Keep up the great videos.
Very true! Gotta get back out there sometime.
Thank you! Will link this to my mayor :D
Love your vids
I intended to explore more, but the line up of High Roller, Tinfoil Hat, Stumptown, and Moby Dick is hard to deviate from. I'm hoping to get back there later in the summer. The trailhead for the lowest third of the trails is about an hour to climb.
Had no idea u had a sim setup! Looks sweet! I've got the Alpha Mini. Reverse mount pedals too?
Mtb and driving. Spirited and wheeled. Gotta be the secret sauce!
Just in the middle of building up my first proper rig 🤘 I’m a life-long rally fan, so I spend most of my time in Dirt Rally 2.0.
I hear the Mini is fantastic.
@@TheLoamRanger Great for the money, I bought an ultimate over the winter to play EA WRC. Total overkill but works great. A mini would have been totally fine.
@@DarkFire9889 I'm with ya. My Alpha U is sitting in a box behind me right now. Still waiting on a proper chassis!
Valemount is amazing. It's our favourite place to be. Full of awesome people and so many things to do. You've got it all wrong though, Valemount is not the middle of nowhere, it's "the middle of everywhere"!
Beautiful place to visit, and ride.
If you do plan on staying, the Best Western there is amazingly accommodating for riders!
2 Types of people traveling to Valemount before the bike park, those that fill up at Shell and those that fill up at Petro
As a sidenote, Valemount has been a very popular Sled spot for as long as I can remember. They just finally started marketing it!
Great vid as usual. When do we get one about the sim racing gear in the background?👍
That’s a badass lookin place!
Vale-MOUNT. I lived and worked there for a bit, I got corrected a lot till I started pronouncing it that way.
This look so much fun
This looks amazing. I don’t care for huge bike parks and this place looks like the perfect MTB destination. Cool small town, killer park, laid back environment
It's really great to see a market niche filled. humans are so marvelous. I;m so jealous that i'm too old to ride, but I had my days
Awesome video! Did you all shots with the X4? Greetings from Austria
Probably one of the best maintained trail system I have ever seen.
Just drove out to valemount for the weekend after watching your video. When did you film this? Hoping we can hit all the same trails
You've gotta check out the bike park and new Big Horn trail network in Hinton. Unfortunately not shuttleable yet though.
I love the random "my watch thinks I died"
Great video - Any comments on how long the shuttle ride is to the top and what the ride is like? Bumpy dirt roads, smooth gravel, paved? Looks like they were using nice vans with trailers.
some of the absolute best alpine riding is in valemount. its a hell of place
oh, yah the sled access touring there is just as good as golden or revy, if not better, no crowds
those trails are magnificent
You should try loose moose in Williams lake it’s a bike park level flow trail
Amazing video and overview - what an inspirational area. Cool to see jursdictions be so innovative and GSD with respect to MTB. Meanwhile, in Alberta will soon allow the brutalization of an already amazing established area near Calgary - West Bragg Creek & Moose Mountain, all in the name of greed & shortsightedness.
It sounds like there are leaders working for the community at large.
This place looks fantastic. Small town AB could learn something similar sized places next door.
we can hope, but 'berta just plans to mow down forests around established areas - see West Bragg Creek & Moose Mountain
Sounds like a for sure destination without the super cool local attitude of “we all know where the trails are”.Meaning they are not for visitors. You get that from some other smaller towns but it seems like this town thinks about it to make visits memorable.
Have you tried Mt. Abriel in Nakusp ? Another small town with a large mtn bike park.
We shuttled it with sxs this summer and that place is something else, so wild and I'm from Valemount here so I'm not complaining, if only that road gets some money 🤑
A town that supports my two sports!
Can you review dartmoor rocbird enduro frame? Thanks
Honestly the super distorted fishbowl like footage made this video hard to watch. And I really didn’t get a sense of the trails. But it sounds like a cool place.
Good for them! I wish our city was this open minded!
You are fire on the mountain
Awesome cool video! Have you ever made some sim racing content? Sim Racing is my second hobby😂 my first one is mountainbiking but i also love doing some laps on the nordschleife, Road America and many many more😅
🤫 I’m not telling anyone about this yet: czcams.com/video/vtLEmTDmh2Y/video.htmlsi=kQ4occhyvHlcbNwx
@@TheLoamRanger no waaay that's so awesome!!! I wish you all the best for that quite hard challenge!!🤟🤣
“The village people if you will” 😂😂😂 only the real ones will know
Can’t believe I only just noticed the steering wheel behind you. Also a sim racer? Would be interested to see you make some content in that field
Inspiring story. Wonder how they funded all those projects?
what kind of fork do you run?
Arye, me and my USA wife did exactly the same thing here at Clyne Valley. Swansea City, Wales, Great Britain last June, 2023.
We started cleaning, cutting every single trail and dirt jump, burm in the bike park, through freezing cold weather, and 9 months of rain.
We stuck our middle finger up to red tape, beauracracy and went for it, with plastic rakes, gas powered hedge cutters and weed-grass cutters.
My car that we used to travel from home to the bike park with our tools in, then packed up and I had to get rid of the car, and we burnt out the gas powered equipment.
So we then bought hand shears, carried them down on our mtbikes to the bike park. Hide the tools in the forest after a hard days work, then pedal back home daily up a mountain to.
We've encountered verbal threats, manipulation, deceit, corruption and downright hostility from some Elitist bullying thugs mtbikers. They even trashed some of our tools also.
They've insulted my American wife, that's when I went after the ring leader and confronted him, they leave us alone now.
I've almost been bitten by venomous snake's (Adder's-vipers) whilst exposing old trails and jumps.
Been verbally assaulted by other mountain biker's and ramblers. We've paid for everything out of our own pockets, did all the work ourselves, and we put the entire 1,100 mtbike group members to shame, who still do very little, yet still ride the trails.
We also exposed the corruption in the local mountain bike shop. We ask for no thanks, no respect. We just got on with it.
We're 99% there, we have 50 metres left to go of the last 100 metre sprint of the last lap in a manner of speaking, and it will be finished.
Whilst the local mtbike riding group are still waiting, and have been waiting five year's for the local County hall, to act in getting the bike park up to the standard of other bike parks.
If I'm honest the park was a dump but now it's incredible again. We've also opened up trails, burnws and dirt jumps that ain't been used whatsoever for 20 year's.
This is an inspiring video, we'll done to those villagers.
Thanks dudes.
I live in Russia, the largest country in the world and it's effing impossible to find a bike park here, everything is "private property" from here to horizon. I live in the most mountain area of Russia - south - and I have 2 bike parks. One of them being the Olympic park in Sochi. Imagine the density of people there, it's a nightmare if you're a begginer which I am. It's a priveledge in a good way to have such communities like yours, I wish I could be there one day, which is unlikely given how things are going right now :(
I don't do MTB parks that have lifts and charge money, and I don't really care for flow trails, but looks like a good system if you're into that.
There are no lifts
@@wanderfulwheels but there are shuttles, same thing.
9:22 YEG 🔥
That looks like a golf cart trail compared to the North Shore
Well, if was super wet and slippery during our time there, so most of our riding was on the flow trails. They’ve got plenty of tech there as well 👍
lol it’s super wet and slippery 6 months of the year here
Interesting that you slipped and called it Valemont.
I could have sworn there was never a “U” in the name. Starting a conspiracy here 😂
Yeah, I've known it's spelled with a "U" but "I've been pronouncing it without the "U" for 4 decades. Lately I've been hearing the "U" being pronounced (on the news, etc.) and I'm wondering if I've been wrong this whole time.
Would love to go here...bit far though 😂😔
Soo awesome
Oh man, so much disappointment when the big ski hill plan seemed to grind to a halt. Where can I find info on the town’s ski hill?
1:16 No one taught her how to drop? No preload, no pressure from the feet. Just hoping it works out.
No one taught you how to be tactful? It was a mistake caused by slowing down too much before the drop, then trying to save it. Not everything goes to plan.
@@TheLoamRanger No. It's her having no idea how to drop, how to control the front wheel. It's not a mistake. When you have no idea how to drop it's just a matter of time when you OTB like this. I've seen it many times. She had plenty of speed. Trying to cover your lack of technique by speed is just that. Having enough speed is horrible advice. So basically as I assumed. No one taught her what to do.
You are real tactful letting people you ride with plant their face on the ground... How fucked up attitude do you have to complain about tact instead of worrying about someone's safety. And I didn't even say anything insulting. You have an overblown ego. Not that I lack "tact".
years ago when George W was elected I was seriously looking at moving to Canada.... forever... Valemount area was top on my list in BC. KUDOS Valemount people!
Smaller towns are easier. Less people to convince. Less people to cause issues.
Is this a lesson about
1. what passionate people can get done if they really push for it
or about
2. How red tape kills passion and smaller communities don't have the red tape.
I think its more about lesson 1. Because otherwise every small city would have awesome bike parks and they don't. Don't give up, and don't free ride. Work together to get great stuff done.
Does it have any tech trails? I find the jump/flow stuff pretty boring.
There's some techy bits to keep life interesting, Andreas Downhill is a personal favorite
It sure does! Firebreak is another techy trail and they've built a new upper part to it opening this year. Stinger and Coaster are more techy than the ones Loam Ranger showed IMO too. And, there is a whole other network of trails on the other side of Swift Creek. There really is something for everyone here!
I second the swift side. Well worth the pedal.
Every summer this bike park gets busier and busier. Don't bother coming, the trails suck.
governments: the longer it takes, the more $$ they make
Too smooth, give me nasty sharp chunk.
LOL watch thinks you died!!!!
Awesome video, had to stop watching because of the super wide angle ruining the view
