- I am officially 12 months alcohol-free!! When I started my sober journey at the beginning of 2023, hitting the one-year mark seemed like a world away, but here I am! I have talked a lot on my channel about the ways quitting drinking has benefited my life, my tips and tricks to successfully stopping or cutting back on alcohol, and how my social life has looked like since I quit drinking. Whether you're on a sober journey yourself, sober curious, or just interested in seeing what quitting drinking has been like for me - this video will do the trick!
This video gets me a little emotional because not only did I keep a promise and commitment to myself but I truly changed my life this year after quitting drinking and I am just so incredibly proud.

Madeline wow great that you made it a whole year sober. I just decided 2024 is my year to be sober
i LOVE that!! It's a truly freeing feeling, I hope you have an incredible year
April will be my 10 years. I don't know you, but I am proud of you. If drinking is an issue for you, quitting is one of the best things you will do in your life. We do not need alcohol. There is no doubt anyone is healthier without booze. I encourage anyone working on this to just take it one day at a time. Keep on plugging away, and before you know it, alcohol/drugs will be long in the past.
Congratulations on 10 years, that's amazing! And thank you for the kind words, never imagined how good it could feel honestly.
❤
My friend passed at 33 this new years eve from liver failure from drinking, I don't know you but I'm proud of you an anyone who takes the steps to try and change and realize it is a problem, everyone deserves a chance at a long healthy good life. ❤
I am so sorry for your loss, that's heartbreaking, but thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement!
Spot on! The alcohal industry should be requiered to put a health warning lable stating the link between alcohal & depression. I just turned 70. I was a binger my whole life. High functioning big time binger! Booze on the weekend and always anti depresents pills on hand. I have been 99.9 percent no alcohal for 2 years. Only a few beers arround the camp fire at the annual reunion camping trip, and a sip of wine on NYE! Depresion 98 percent gone! When I do feel an episode creeping up, I am so better able to cope and divert. Going sober curlous was the best thing I ever did. At 70, I am now setting goals and achieving them !! You do a great presentation! Thank You! Te;D
I love this so much!! Congrats on your journey, Im glad you found the path that works for you!
Atta girl!
Sobriety is a game changer.
Proud of all Addicts who are clean and serene. I will always be an addict and I have made it to 400 days to the day.
Respect, peace, love, happiness and above all enjoy God's greatest gift... Life!
I'm in Recovery...thanks for sharing
You're welcome, I wish the absolute best!!
Last year I lasted 62 days..it’s ok..I’m on 20 days today..really wanna do it right this time 😄👍🏽
You got this!! celebrate your small wins, each day!
It's crazy how much personal growth can truly experience in one year
It. truly. is. You feel like one year is so long looking forward, but looking back it's in the blink of an eye, so much can happen!
@@madelinekateh im on day 266. hoping to join you in the 1 year club soon!
Congratulations on one year. That is truly amazing. I am at 206 days sober and it is the best decision I have ever made. I related to you so strongly when you spoke about how alcohol impacted your moods. It’s so nice to finally feel and know that your feelings are truly yours and not the unstable craziness that alcohol causes. Thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring others 🤍
206 days, that's amazing!! I could not agree more, feeling in control of myself is the greatest motivation I've ever had. I love that that resonated with you, it's by far my biggest takeaway from the lifestyle change. Keep it up, you got this!! I wish you the absolute best
Thanks so much! All the best to you too! We got this!
I'm in the same place now. Stopped drinking day after Christmas 2023 to do dry January and I already know I will keep going. I'm trying to start my own business and really need to focus. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ahhh i love this so much!!! I had no idea how much stopping drinking would allow me to focus on this channel, pouring myself into my business and passions. I wish you the absolute best and so much success!
Wow. I’m from Chicago originally and I am happy to hear you found yourself in the city without alcohol. The city has so much to offer without the drinking and I’ve seen it too often where people get sucked into the night life and chasing the high. Props, Madeline.
Yess, it's a very easy path to go down - you're surrounded by it. Very happy to have moved here after doing a lot of habit changes in my life! Thank you!!
I can listen you for days without a distraction. You’re one month ahead of me. Keep on.
Thank you!! You got this, that 12 month mark is quite the good feeling
Good job !!! 7 yrs no booze here. First year was the most challenging.
Rock climbing is awesome!!! . Been doing it aswell the last few months it’s a whole body workout , good job ! keep it up , 🎉🎉🎉
Yes! Mind and body, love that we found this hobby!
23 years of no alcohol, not even a sip of beer. Best decision I ever made.
That's incredible!!
Have you noticed some big benefits?! Congratulations!!
Great video! Thank you for sharing 🙌
and thank you for watching!!
Really genuinely incredible. ❤
Edit: From Scotland!!
Thank you so much!!
Congrats! You’re wise beyond your years.
Thank you!!
Moderation is a myth, so is being a "responsible drinker". A drink or two is okay, if you can afford to go backward for a few days, because that is the price paid! Te;D
Great video! 🎉
Thank you!!
Nice I from Holland 🎉good job ❤
Hello from America!! Thank you!
3m and hope 12 m can do , save body save money 👍
You can do it!!
i gotta stop drinking tooo
You can do it!!
Nothing useful about alcohol, it's risk reward ratio is horrible
Congratulations. You’re not an alcoholic, you’re a binge drinker. Both are alcohol use disorders. Best not to drink going forward as you are in denial over your ability to moderate alcohol use. Good luck.
Couldn't agree more! I'm not in denial, but I get what you mean! Thank you.
Your so beautiful
Thank you, so kind!!
This too shal pass. (Sigh..)
Talking with that upward inflection is impossible to listen to.
Thank you for your unsolicited opinion. I bet you feel so much better about yourself after having denigrated someone for no reason other than because you can.
@@maxsupernova well, not sure about all that. But I sure feel better not listening. Thanks.
Some folks don’t have control and that’s truly sad. A glass of wine, a beer with friend, and a shot for celebration is FINE. It’s those pain-in-ass folks that ruin it for everyone else. (Awkward cough) like folks like this gal.
Congratulations! Have a drink on me, you can use the wine glasses behind you.
