🤩Excellent project! I want to make one! Can I use the CJMCU-1334 DAC module?

    • @linsoft23
      @linsoft23  Před rokem +2

Hi with some software changes it can certainly be used, be aware that the module provides output only (afaik). You could use the RP2040's internal adc for input, in fact i have done this in early development stages but it will be very noisy.

Can i do it on pi 3b+?

The code is for a raspberry pi pico, however there are other raspberry pi based guitar pedal available on the internet, such as www.electrosmash.com/pedal-pi

Now if you could find a way to tuck that sucker into the guitar and power it you could get REAL creative!

That's why I'm watching this video now lol. I wanna make a guitar with built in effects/amp ir etc

Space-wise i think it could fit into strat, maybe with extra carved-out parts, power supply is a different story though, i think it wouldn't last long when using batteries.

This demo could have been SO MUCH BETTER.
[Please see EDITS at the end of my initial comments.]
    1. Please stop all the mumbling to yourself! I couldn't tell what was intended as "narration" and what was simply talking to yourself.
    2. We couldn't see the device very well, it was mostly in the shadows of your hand when you made adjustments, and the display was just not clearly visible That can easily be fixed (poor production quality. No attention to detail.)
    3. I couldn't tell what the LCD display was for. In a few cases I could see that it was a graph of something. In most cases, I couldn't tell anything.
    4. Please start by explaining all the different functions the device performs.
(Somehow I missed that in my initial viewing of the video, but it can definitely be improved!)
I'm sure that, since you're capable of making this device, you can do much better! Please do!
I get that you're nervous when playing for a video, and I understand that---it happens to all of us. Personally, I know that it gets better with practice. In fact, when I used to play for ANYONE I would get nervous and "locked up!" After a while, I got over it. As people showed their interest, and assured me they were impressed with my playing ability, it got easier. Eventually, I got to where I could play the same whether someone was watching and listening (even from another room), or simply practicing by myself. Now I'm only nervous when I'm recording (whether audio or video) but it gets a lot easier each time. I suspect soon I'll get completely past that.
This device has great potential! I'd really like to see you develop it more into something interesting. Like a "final product." You could probably sell it online and make a few bucks.
But, mostly I'd like to see you produce a good video that demonstrates both the project and your playing ability.
As far as your playing, you need to practice with structure, not just playing a few seconds of random chords and riffs. Try playing a whole song all the way through without making mistakes. That's a good way to practice. I won't go into detail about it here, but there are ways to practice playing where you keep developing your skills at a fast rate.
It's ok to play something improvised, but try to make it into something, even for a few bars (lasting maybe 30 seconds or so). I often write whole songs that way. (When I discover something that sounds good, I practice it, then later figure out how to integrate it with another passage to eventually create a song.)
As far as re-making the video, please refer to the suggestions I posted above. You might try writing a script to follow. Just follow these instructions:
1, introduce yourself and briefly describe the project, and what it does.
    2. Describe (briefly) how you created the effects (like whether you used analog circuits that the Pico switches between, or digital algorithms).
    3. Demonstrate each function, start by stating the effect, then play a little. You don't need a whole song for this, what you played here in this video is fine.
4 make sure the device is clearly visible. Make sure that when you make changes to the knobs, we can see what you're doing, that it's not being shadowed by your hand!
You can do better, I know you can!
I can guarantee you that it will make you feel really good, and it's a great confidence booster, as well as developing professional skills (and demonstrating them) after you have successfully completed the project, demonstrated how it works, and created a professional video that documents it.
Do it for yourself! This is a great project, and you have great potential! Develop yourself! ;>)
    EDITS: (later)
This is better, but still there's TOO MUCH MIMBLING!
OK, I saw your other video where you're describing the project. Better organized, but again:
When I was in grad school, we had to videotape ourselves giving a presentation (in those days, we had to use actual videotape, no HDDs in video cameras, lol. We had to use VHS or Betamax.). The instructor(s) were merciless in their criticism! But, it made us better! It works!
I assure you, anyone can overcome these things, and become a better speaker. It will help you afterwards, in every conversation you have with anyone! People will notice, friends will likely say something like, "You seem more confident lately!" You'll seem more confident, more self-assured. And that will help you in so many more ways.
(When you seem more confident, you actually become more confident. I promise you, it will affect you for the rest of your life with everything you do!)
You also don't need anyone else to critique, you can tell when you're giving a poor presentation! Speak clearly, with authority! No Mumbling! Start with a script.
PRACTICE IT, BEFORE RECORDING YOURSELF. Only after you can get all the way through it, speaking clearly and confidently, do you start recording yourself.
Once you start recording yourself, go from there. Watch it immediately, and identify your mistakes. (It could be where you're looking, poor posture (slumped over), or too many "Ums, and Uhs" or whatever. Make notes, decide how to fix it, then redo it.) Once you can get all the way through the "presentation" without stumbling, you're good to go.
It's okay to have moments of silence. Sometimes it's appropriate. Other times, you want to make sure it's not too long, or people will be confused. ("What happened to the sound?" "Is the video over?")
Please do this for yourself! I promise you, it will make you better in ALL your interpersonal interactions! Also, you'll make better videos. ;>)

Thank you for the detailed and encouraging criticism! After watching parts of the video again i can clearly understand what you mean with missing quality in several areas. The thing is that this youtube channel is really only a side-activity of my electronics hobby. Electronics (and music) is only one leisure activity ia have beside my family and a day-job. When i was at some point with this project i was thinking to myself "it actually sound good, maybe it should present it somewhere on the internet", so i thought let's try it with youtube. Then i uploaded this video quickly without any professional intent not proper camera equipment.
Regarding the presentation: I've got an academic background and i do presentation in from of audiences on a almost daily basis in my dayjob. And - strangely i'm know for being a confident if not over-confident and arrogant speaker, at least to swiss standards. Maybe my private personality somehow is still that of a low self-esteem teenager.. However most of my talks/discussions are in german. Maybe my oral english has deteriorated over the past ten or so years in which i do not speak english anymore on a regular basis. Also the last conference talk in english was around 15 years ago.
Musicianship/guitar playing: I'm playing guitar for 35 years now, when i recorded this video i wasn't nervous at all, i just thought "let's play something that comes to my mind". Maybe i was sloppy because i was too confident regarding my playing.
To wrap things up: I'll certainly try to put more effort into it when making a video, which happens only on an irregular basis. I'm not planning to become a youtuber, still i don't want to produce content that is so bad so that it is embarassing of even hindering for future steps. Besides this i'll start to publish written blogposts on my site www.stonerose35.ch.
