Before 1948 the M0$LEMS in the area targeted the Druze and Jews for murder so the Druze saw that they had an opportunity to fight back with an ally that wouldn’t slaughter them.
It is not true that they would be considered second class citizens just because Israel is a Jewish country; I grew up in a majority Christian country as a Jew and I didn’t feel like I was second class
