    After watching this I junked my free cloudflare account and used Bunny instead. After the whoops a daisy I forgot my SSL certificate came from my Cloudflare account rectification, my Lightspeed plugin, running on a Lightspeed server started behaving much more as you'd expect it to.
    I then activated ShortPixel's adaptive images (prior to this I had disabled image compression in Lightspeed in anticipation of using ShortPixel AI).
    Then test again and woosh! Like viscous substance flying off a shovel. 95 percent for both mobile and desktop in pagespeed. I know exactly why the last 5% isn't covered and I'm not prepared to remove the really cool interaction from my home page to rectify it! I had no idea Cloudflare could be such a poor "solution". For me, Bunny CDN for the win.
    Thank you so much for the heads up, Paul. Really appreciated. I was so disillusioned I came here to check out an alternative to Lightspeed as I was so disillusioned. Esp as the speed was so poor on a Litespeed server. Turned out my problem was my CDN. Something that should have helped was holding things back.

    These metrics are good, but can also be very time consuming. As you mentioned the key thing is to build a site based on a set metric, load time within 2 seconds on at lest desktop and also mobile.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 4 lety

      I'd generally recommend keeping things to a single caching plugin for sure.
      I'd also test out SG Optimiser to see what results you get before adding a 3rd party paid for plugin. 👍

    at 11:37 you state that you will lose transparency if converting png to jpg, yet the description to the right of the checkbox seems to warrant it will only convert png that do NOT have transparency already. Do you know if this is correct?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 4 lety

      Oh, you could well be right. It's not an option I would use, so really didn't spend too much time looking at the nuances of the option. If it says transparent PNG files will be left untouched, then that is right. :)

    What did you do with SiteGrounds Cache, SGoptimizer? according to WPRocket, they are comparable, but did you delete it?

    • @digwillhachi
      @digwillhachi Před 4 lety

      you can use SG Optimiser to use the memcache and server side cache options. Thats what I do.

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 4 lety +1

      I simply used SiteGrounds default setup and removed the SG Optimizer plugin to not skew the results with additional plugins. I think many people who don't have a lot of experience with caching would not necessarily feel comfortable messing around with server setups, so I didn't include it. Besides, not everyone using this guide will be on SiteGround, so the hosting account wasn't an integral part of the guide. :)

    Hi Paul, I'm guessing there really isn't much pint having a cdn for local company sites. Is that right?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 3 lety +1

      Pretty much. The CDN is only really going to benefit people in a different location. You could get some server resource reduction for users, but not too sure if it would be worth it.

    • @WPTuts

    How much does it cost a month with webhosting , wp-rocket and bunny cdn?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před 4 lety +1

      It really depends on usage and requirements for the site. BunnyCDN is very low cost in terms of US/EU server locations ($0.01 per GB for lower usage websites), SiteGround would set you back around $5.99 per month for the lowest tier and WP Rocket for a single site is $49.
      As with all these things, you can find cheaper or alternatives, but there really is no 'one size fits all' solution for pricing or facilities.

    • @rocster01
      @rocster01 Před 4 lety +2

      a) Digital ocean - from as little as $5 pcm
      b) Rocket - about $49/yr for 1 site
      c) Bunny CDN - PAYG - But for average site, under $5/pcm
      so averaged out, under $15 for awesome hosting and a very quick site which gets amazing speed scores on GTMetrix and Pingdom - I get around 443ms for a 3MB page which is insane for the low price I pay
      you also get about 50GB of storage space with digital ocean - you can use a plugin such as Offload Media to store your media (images etc) and just keep your actual hosting for running the core site. If you can't do it yourself, I've used people on freelance sites to set up for about $20 one-time
      Hope this helps

GT from US I got around 3 s (after 3 tests) and with pingdom is about 2.5-3s It is not so fast you have a very light weight website and only 12 requests. Why do you use google cloud platform and not siteground for webhosting and why isn't the website loading faster with the pay plugins?
