I'm watching this on a 36XBR200 CRT right now. You can have the future, I'm living in the past.

They don't have to be pricey if you know where to look. If you live in a bigger city, chances are, you can find them fairly cheap on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. Most people, who aren't gamers, can't wait to get rid of these things and will practically give them away.

That is true. If you go the ebay route they'll be expensive.

You don't want to do any 240p gaming on a HD CRT. It looks wack-no scanlines. Also the input lag is horrendous.
Bonus points for the Last resort footage.
    CRT- critical race theory.

I remember my very first console was the PS2 on a CRT. I can understand why a lot of people would still prefer these for retro gaming but I have a 240Hz 1440p monitor now and upscaling my beloved PS2 games to 5K from native resolution is really nice XD

That's a delicious blend of retro and modern right there.

@@cosmicusstardust3300 You can upscale the PS2 as much as you want though, take it to 32K even, it still won't come close to 480p on a CRT, sample and hold displays, that is LCD and OLED can't even fully realize 1080p with just a modest amount of motion, they drop well below 240p due to terrible motion clarity, then there is the perfect blacks that CRTs have that maintain detail in even the darkest of scenes, the incredible image depth CRT has and the fact that consoles including the PS2 were made with CRT in mind, which is why they look so bland and terrible on modern flat panels. LCD is great for browsing the web, casual TV watching, office work etc, but anything that requires IQ and performance. It's CRT only imo, especially for Xbox 360 and below consoles, though CRT looks stunning with modern titles also.

Regretted giving away my last CRT TV to my church, retro games and old dvds dont look very good on modern TVs to me.

You should definitely try to get that back. They don't look good at all on modern TVs trust me. While modern TVs can display older electronics imagery, they aren't designed with older technology in mind. My current 50 inch 4K capable TV supports component and yet, my PS2 that uses component doesn't look 100%.

Couldn't disagree more about your statement that modern displays looks better than a Sony HD CRT, not even 4K OLED can touch the Sony Super Fine Pitch HD CRTs, or the Panasonic SR Acuity HD CRTS for that matter, the only displays to get close are the Pioneer and Panasonic late gen plasma TV sets. But then on another level above all those are the BVM and VGA monitors, nothing can get close to the IQ and performance they put out, PS5 on a top-tier CRT monitor is incredible looking, if RGB OLED with native rolling scan and at least 360Hz refresh rates are ever available, perhaps they will look as good or at least come close to CRT, but that's at least a good few years off yet imo.

Interesting to know, I'm not always familiar with all the specifications of these kinds of things so I appreciate you explaining them.
