- In this video, we are having lunch at Rose & Crown located at 2 Old Park Lane, Mayfair, London, W1K 1QN. From their website, “Our pub was once used as the living quarters for Oliver Cromwell's bodyguards. It was originally named 'The Oliver Cromwell' and remained so from 1643 to 1678. The pub was then renamed 'The Rose & Crown' and has traded ever since under that sign which consists of a royal crown surmounting a Tudor rose, symbolising the union of the houses of Lancaster and York.”
* Kevin ordered TAYLOR WALKER STEAK & ALE PIE: A British classic with a Taylor Walker twist! 100% British beef, slow-cooked in our rich 1730 pale ale gravy encased in crisp pastry. Served with mashed potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables and a jug of gravy.
* Tami ordered COD & CHIPS: hand-battered chunky cod fillet, served with chips, your choice of mushy or garden peas and tartare sauce.

I'm jealous of your fish! I LOVE crispy things! Yum :D
This was the best fish I had while we were there. It was delicious.
You guys are brilliant! Love watching your videos. Kevin is a legend!
Thank you so much!
OMG we ate there last week and sat at that same table! haha! I got an awesome salad and my son got some sort of sampler plate (ploghman's board maybe?) and husband got the pie. What a great place!! We got fish and chips from Poppys which was amazing.
That IS AMAZING!! We loved this place. The fish here was better than Poppy's IMO if you can believe it. You will see Poppy's in a future video ;) It's SO COOL that you ate at those places too! What are the chances?!
That food looked so delicious!
We enjoyed it!
Amazing video, Tami. More delicious food. They definitely make sure you get your money's worth over in London.
We thought so too Mark!
If ever i go to london i will for sure go there its sooo cool ! Love your video !
Thank you so much :)
That looks quite typical of English pub grub. You order at the bar, and there's usually a menu at the bar to save taking the one on the table up.
Unless it's table service, people don't tip in the UK. They were definitely chips, not fries!! A bit expensive, but that's London x
This was our very favorite meal and place that we ate on our trip!
+Tami Dunn did you have afternoon tea anywhere?
Yes! We were in York and it was the day before we came home! You will see it :)
+Tami Dunn I'm hoping it was Betty's Tea Room? If it wasn't you'll just have to come back and visit there!
It was Hathaway Tea Rooms.
I ate there in November, also had the Cod & Chips! delicious :)
I'm glad you were able to experience this place :)
if you go back to the uk find a wetherspoons. its a chain of pubs but the pubs have individual names. really good value and a pint of beer is included in the price. also dont think twice about leaving a tip in the uk. they dont expect it.
I love the fact that you don't have to tip there. I wish it was that way here.
Tami Dunn its better i think as its just expected everyone works properly. So theres no bitchiness of waitresses fighting for tables.
Tami Dunn they receive a proper wage so there is no need to tip. Tips in USA are used to supplement a substandard wage.
If you want just ask the bar person if they would like to take for a drink...they normally will 2 or 3 pound for a beer...
I wholeheartedly agree Matt N Wetherspoons is always good value both drinks and food only problem is you have to share the place with thousands of other people and whatever the time of day My local one is packed at ten oclock in the morning with us old age pensioner having breakfast well its cheaper than putting the pan on at home
Fish and Chips and Steak and Ale Pie- love it!
THIS was our very favorite place that we ate during our entire trip. The fish was amazing!
Im glad it was a British pub too! Pub food is the best in my opinion... like you said ... avoid Hard Rock Cafe etc!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you for watching!
We Brits are masters of the understatement. If you say to a barman or barmaid "Would you have a drink with me?" they will thank you, take the price of a drink but most probably not the drink. That is their tip! but don't feel compelled.
We really enjoyed this pub!
The old way of discreetly tipping bar staff in a pub was to say "Will you have a drink with me?" and they would take the price of a drink out of your change. At one time, when I was a regular pub goer, it was unheard of at the 'local' not to buy the barman or barmaid a drink. It seems that with the improvement in wages and the passing of time, this practice has fallen away.
This is so interesting! Thank you for sharing it with me.
Pricey.
We enjoyed this very much.
I've noticed on the food receipts there are no beverages. Are they included in the meal price?
We always ordered plain water because it is free.
@@TamiDunn Ok thanks. Also hello from a fellow Kentuckian. I am from Lancaster and live in Danville now. Also, I swear you look VERY familiar to me.
buen provecho
It’s a pity it looks like the company who owned the pub has changed from Taylor Walker to Greene King.
I miss London so much.
you mentioned mushy peas...what are those? also, do they tax groceries there or just eating out, likr in the U.S.
You can pay a VAT Tax on some items, but not food. This is how Wikipedia defines mushy peas, "Mushy peas are dried marrowfat peas which are first soaked overnight in water with bicarbonate soda/baking soda, then rinsed in fresh water and simmered with a little sugar and salt until they form a thick green lumpy soup."
+Tami Dunn And they're delicious!! I love them. At our local chip shop they used to sell 'mushy pea clusters' a blob of mushy peas dipped in batter and deep fried!! 😛
Spot on Tami we call Mushy peas Yorkshire Caviar
Mayfair!!! The home of The Werewolves of London.
English have no idea what a burrito is lol
