    I have just had this treatment done on 31 oct 22 on both legs both sides, after suffering for many years and was diagnosed with compartment syndrome after the pressure test was carried out.
    had been to orthopedic surgeons many times and did many x-rays and ultrasound did not show anything the only way to really confirm this is by pressure test.
    looking forward to recovery journey currently cannot walk without walker.

    I have had surgery for Chronic compartment syndrome 10 yrs ago in one leg. I have been told so many times that I may have it in both legs post surgery, but I cant seem to get any orthopedic doctor nor pain management to get tests that need to be done. I suffered for 11yrs with ultimately being told it was Fibro. Some though MS etc. I got lucky with one podiatrist, he knew in 5 min of me explaining symptoms what it was. I had the surgery (fascia decompression) in the compartment area and never had issues again. But now here i am suffering again in other areas, and was told i may have reactivated it where i had surgery, but can't seem to get anyone to listen and do anything. Pain meds do not help at all!!! and am literally in tears because I can't get anyone to listen. My Podiatrist retired. His old office can't find my records of the diagnosis or surgery. And i'm so frustrated to where I wish I could just cut my legs off. No worries i won't do that promise :).. plz any advice on what I can do to get someone to listen? even My physical therapist believes I suffer from it.
    This is a pain I wish on no one!!! Thank You.. Christina from Phx AZ,, Email: markandchris97@gmail.com

      Christina Snyder hi, i just did a search on this topic because I just was recently diagnosed with this. This just began about 1 month ago and I’m going through extreme pain. Pain meds don’t help at all and I’m on antibiotics called “ Keflex”. I started those 5 days ago and I don’t see much change. With this Coronavirus going on now it’s impossible to get into a hospital to be treated properly. Even with the direction of a doctor. We’ve tried with 2 and no luck. I’m concerned that if not treated properly I may be at risk of either losing a foot or leg. Is this a possibility of not treated right ?

      @@VZ-Warrior_Soul From what I remember. The compartments in your legs,which are 4? not 100% on that sry. But no you would not lose your legs. It can however cause nerve damage muscle damage and cut blood flow cut blood flow "to a point" which in turn damages the muscles themselves. You have two different kinds of compartment syndrome. One is what you get with bad accidents ie car accidents etc. Those are the ones that cause limb removals only in extreme cases. The second is what we have. Usually only seen in athletes. Meaning you and I are the lucky ones yay that have extreme muscle swelling when we exercise and even walk. I know for me the pain pain minimised after relaxation but never truly goes away 100% It eventually gets worse to where it gets so painful just to walk. How did they diagnose you? usually they do what is a compression test, some do MRI's. The best way is compression tests. The antibiotics confuse me. Unless they see an underlying issue. Sry you may not have wanted to read all that lol. But No I was told this type of compartment syndrome does not cause limb removal. I hope things work out for you :) I finally found 1 doctor who tests and treats this painful "problem" in a city of 4 million people. So please be careful and dont give up!push the issue, take pictures when swelling happens. Write symptoms,as hard as it may be, when you start to hurt. Its annoying I know. The best doctors to see is an orthopedic surgeon. But do research on them as well. Not all do the proper test if any at all. I wish you the best of luck. Stay safe and tc

      @@christinasnyder7459 what helps is simply a Massage Gun. Also electrical TENS devices Work Well. You can get everything on Amazon. Any good Massage therapist should also be able to feel If there's Adhesion Going on in the muscle causing pain.

      I hope you are doing better. I've had this extreme pain for over 6 months now that started from a new job that was more intense than what I was doing previously. I completely understand the feeling of wanting to cut your legs off whether it be a joke or not....I feel the pain and pressure so extreme that some days it would be best to not have the legs.
      I'm on my 5th doctor and none of them have even physically looked at my legs which if you did you can tell the calf muscles are very tight. It's almost as if flexing when not flexing the muscles.
      So far I have self diagnosed because doctors only want me to go to PT and pain management. I know deep down that won't help. I was a skateboarder that toured....I know what normal pain is and when something isn't normal. My legs don't feel like legs.
      I'm now doing everything I can to get a doctor to believe me. I've had no x-ray or MRI of the legs even.
      It is sad that as a patient I have to be the doctor. Why is it so hard to understand the possibilities from symptoms....I'll never get that. I know deep down (in my compartments) that I have this and it is 100 percent disabling me. I can now barely walk when it's bad. It's not nerves it's a feeling of tightness and extreme pain directed towards certain muscles.
      Were you ever diagnosed and if so did you do the surgery? Did it help? I absolutely know if I got the surgery my calf muscles would expand beyond their limited skin jail. Just sick of this and going to lose my job because doctors are failing to diagnose me. THIS EXTREME PAIN SHOULD SET OFF A RADAR in a doctors well-versed medical vocabulary you would think.
      We now live in a world where you have to be you own advocate. It's a damn shame because even then it's hard to get help because it makes you look like an "arm chair doctor." And they do not like that.

    I have pain in my lateral compartment of my lower legs ...what should I do? I experience swelling, pain, tightness, pressure and warmth on that tissue area. It’s on and off, especially after long time standing or walking. I have seen many videos on pain in the inside and back of the leg but not on the lateral part. Thank you so much x

    Is it possible to be managed by physical therapy w/o surgery?

  • @Rugbyplayer36
    @Rugbyplayer36 Před 5 lety

    In a scenario where you have a patient come in who thinks they might have CECS, and after the pressure test you find that that is not the case - In your experience what has the underlying issue actually ended up being (for the most part) ?

    • @DrDr-pg5br
      @DrDr-pg5br Před 5 lety

      Pressure tests are not always reliable. MRI would be helpful but clinical exam (while ruling out lumbosacral nerve root compression and/or vascular claudication) is more reliable.
