- When we experience discouragement, where should we turn? Though it may not feel like it at times, discouragement is a choice. We can either allow circumstances to drag us down into depression and despair or we can look to our encouraging God.
In this message, “Our Great Encourager,” Dr. Stanley begins by listing 10 qualities that make God our Great Encourager and then explains how He uses those attributes to motivate us. He is always faithful, encouraging us even when we’ve done nothing to deserve it.

I thank GOD for Dr. Charles Stanley, because he explains the Bible simple and clear that every person can understand. 😇
One of the great things about Dr. Stanley is that he's a humble man. You don't see "parades" and "carnivals" just to attract others and make money off of everyone like I sadly see so many evangelists do. This is the kind of man that truly is anointed to preach and teach the Word of God BY God! Many times when I needed so badly to hear what I needed to hear in my life, it's been Dr. Stanley whose words from the Gospel that has helped me, whether I liked what he said or disliked what he said. My needs in guidance have always been set by God through him! Cherish the man who speaks the truth of God, for they are far and few in these troubled days!
This is my personal testimony.
I used to believe that I was super a strong lady, super smart, capable of taking care of myself, and even though I have always been a believer, my faith in God wasn't as strong as it was in myself.
Two years ago I had a serious personal problem with my family, without going into details; at that point, my family was my God, they were the reason I live for, in other words, my "EVERYTHING", but due to the issue with them one day they ALL, everybody abandoned me, over the night... I was left without anything and anyone to talk to. Months passed by, on which I couldn't sleep, and lost my appetite and also my will to live. I pretended for a while that I was fine cus I was full of pride so I couldn’t admit that this time I wasn’t gonna be able to fix myself…until I couldn't take it any longer.
One night when the pain was unbearable, and desperation took over me, finally, I realized that I couldn’t keep living that way, so I started planning how to kill myself, I gave some thought to the idea because I wanted it to be effective and final, I needed to stop the pain but before I did it I got on my knee, very angry with God, at 3 something am, I screamed to God "IF YOU CARE ABOUT ME, DO SOMETHING BECAUSE I CAN'T DO THIS ANY LONGER!!!, I AM A GOOD PERSON AND YOU KNOW IT!!!
I CAN'T TAKE THIS PAIN ANY LONGER!!! I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE ANYMORE!!, IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING I AM!!!
IF YOU SAVE ME I PROMISE I WILL DEDICATE THE REST OF MY LIFE TO YOU!!!”
After this, all I remember comes to me like a flashback, I swear, I don't know how I got back to my bed( my last memory was been in my knee by my bed). Later on( I am not sure how long it passed), in this flashback I opened my eyes for a second and my room was full of extraordinary light, so strong I couldn't keep my eyes open, I was in a fetal position on my bed(I didn't need to see Jesus face because the love and peace that overcame me, that fulfilled my inner being was screaming his presence).
I woke up at 10:35am as A TOTAL NEW PERSON, I felt like I have lost a heavyweight I was carrying on, I was radiant, hungry, happy and full of hopes and plans for my life... Jesus saved me! he cleans my spirit from evil desires OVER THE NIGHT! just the way my family forsakes me. I have been wanting to give my testimony for almost 2 years, I guess the Lord decided that today was the day, God is REAL people, He is, and all we have to do is to redeem ourselves to Him and ask for His help, He is waiting for us to do so, this is mentioned in the Bible on Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
We don't have to suffer alone, Jesus died for us, so we can live an abundant and long life.

@@NewGenesisSeekingGod I was doing LSD with my friend and 2 women one night 30 years ago. I took too much and something very serious was happening in my brain. It was very bad. I was going insane. I felt evil around me and the visions I saw were so scary I was gasping in horror. I wasn't a believer but said, God, if you are real I need you now. I am scared." Almost instantly I felt this beautiful presence around me and my eyes were opened to many things I was blind to. Anyways I had PTSD from that night and could not talk about it for years as I experienced horror beyond one's wildest dreams. Hell is real and I was going there. Jesus saved me that night.

I have listened and prayed with your sermons for many years Dr Stanley.
I am a practicing Roman Catholic. And although we have differences between our faiths, we have so very much in common.
We both believe the Bible is the infallible,inspired Word of God.
We believe we are saved by faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We both believe in the Most Holy Trinity. We believe Jesus died as sacrifice for our sins. And rose from the dead. That he sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. That works do not get us into heaven, but that faith without works is dead, as the Apostles James states. In other words we must be obedient to the Father.
Many people have misconceptions about the Catholic Church. These are the facts.
We are your brother and sisters in Christ Jesus. We have a different belief in the role of the sacraments instituted by Christ. And belief in The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, John 6 , and Apostolic succession.
We love our Baptist brothers and sisters and look forward to glorifying God in heaven with you one day.

I'm telling everyone, GOD IS WORTHY! I am finding out that He is madly in love with me!
I am not of this denomination, and yet I have been so blessed time and again listening to Dr. Stanely. I am going through a difficult time right now, and for several years and months. It is extremely emotionally painful, even leading to physical symptons...my health has been affected. Lately it just seems as if the devil is zoned in on me in regards to my marriage.
I am holding to God's hands, as I know He is holding to me. I am trusting and exercising faith in God. Oh, but there are too many days when my faith and hope are tossed to and fro... after fasting and praying for days, crying until my body grew faint and weak; missed hours and nights of sleep; severe weight loss...I am trusting God.
Sometimes I feel as if I can't go on, and I want to throw in the towel, I feel like dying...or I want something bad to happen to me, just so I do not have to feel the terrible emotional pain...like this morning, the spiritual attack was too much! I was being dragged back into those negative thoughts and feelings; so I bent my knees in prayers, even though I did not "feel" like it. I confessed all to God, got up, and this sermon was playing. Oh what a blessing. Once more God has used Dr. Stanley to speak words of comfort to my dying soul! I am hopeful again. The sad feelings have disappeared I feel as if the Holy Spirt just washed over me in a wave of hope. Thank You heavenly Father, thank you Jesus Christ, thank you Holy Spirit! Thank you Dr. Stanley for being used by God.

I tried to explain this to my son when I heard your sermon because his girlfriend was so into bringing up the past instead of encouraging him when he was following God plan for him because he was trying to be a more Godly person. I told him that she is not good for him .Thank God Almighty he found a nice girl and not with the negative one.

We so blessed by this man. Biblical terms translated for modern english. I have been watching with my wife. Trying to re- program from.. I can't. To, You need to believe to who believes in you! Its hard for me and her. Best works to wake up daily watch episode. Pray on it. If getting negative thoughts. Watch episode. And it's so beautiful what happens. Not so much on jackpot stuff. But inner peace that so warming like a loving hung. Hope someone needs this. And I want to share this feeling is possible for everyone.
