- Come follow along as I set up remote monitoring for the EG4 6000XP! I believe it's also the exact same steps to set up remote monitoring for the EG4 18kPV.

Solar assistant works much better as far as real-time data, just recently I updated eg4 software and it shows each leg usage very helpful, hopefully solar assistant will have this soon on their app !!!

Pro Tip: I set up a guest account on my router named EG4_18K on 2.4 GHz to isolate the inverter from our home network and the personal data stored on our NAS (Network Attached Storage) and other devices. You could also setup a VLAN for the same purpose. Remember where this equipment is made.

Defiantly all IoT should be vlan’d off from your primary network. Who knows what these devices are about chatting and spying on what’s on your network. I have a vlan separate for devices, and vlan setup so other devices can’t see another device on the same vlan. Little pain to setup but all these devices are chatty Kathys.

I haven’t bought anything from SS in a couple years. I had some bad experiences all around. I will say that it does seem like they’re trying to turn things around but I have no kidding first hand knowledge of this.
As far as CC goes, I haven’t had any issues getting questions answered pre/post sales. Things seem to ship pretty fast and I can’t think of any issues I’ve had with them. I’ve even tried to use different email addresses in the past to ensure I don’t get any “special treatment” because I have a YT channel.
Have you tried to add Solar Assistant to the 6000XP? Curious.
I have not yet, but it’s on my list of things to do.
This was very helpful thank you for the instructions. However, i still cant figure out how to charge my battery with ac in. I set the parameter to start charging from 20% soc but nothing happens :(
Do you have the EPS switch turned on? That has to be on in order to charge from grid.
I have the 6000xp model, and it's been working flawlessly for the past 6 months, but yesterday, something unexpected happened. The inverter shut off for a few seconds and turned back on. at first, I thought I had a problem with the load. but that was not the case. so I went thru the app monitoring to check on the alarm status, and that's when i noticed my battery settings were changed. I don't know if the inverter has a problem. but it was suspicious that this happened. I think this wifi monitoring is not safe. have you or other viewers experience this problem?
That's really weird. Can't say I've ever experienced that before.
If you go to the monitoring website and look under Data -> Event History, do you see anything around the time that your inverter restarted? Also I would reach out to your distributor. They have the ability to look at a log of settings changes to determine what user made the change to the system.
It would be great if you could connect a smart shunt for Diy batteries. Like a victron shunt! 🍻

I hate the software, "because I can't figure it out with my ape brain :)" I am going to attempt to set it up with Solar Assistant so we will see how that goes. The unit still appears to be working ok, I will be hooking up the 3 other mini splits this weekend and we will see how it handles the South Texas summer :)
Haha! Yeah, I've got a copy of SA floating around here somewhere that I'll probably hook up and see what all info it gives me. I've been so busy I haven't been able to do much other testing on the unit so far.

@@AdamDeLay07 Got mine installed in a few minutes, right after watching your video, I don't know that it offers more features as of yet, but at least I got it working, all you need is the serial for the data logger and the inverter. Good luck, if you need help let me know :)
They say it uses as much as 50w as it sits.
The consumption goes down if your inverter is in "standby mode" vs EPS mode.
I'm reading 38w from my bms
So not like the 18k one then? Got to say that app looks just as bad as their 3k one. Slow ass update is next to useless. Seems like it might STILL be better to get the solar assistant.
It’s the same app for the 18kPV. It has lots of room for improvement but it’s better than WatchPower. I’ve got a copy of Solar Assistant lying around so I’ll probably hook that up to show the differences.
The EG4 monitoring is pretty poor. The app constantly needs re-logging in to update info. The layout is poor. The pages/sections are all over the place. Looks to have been coded on the cheap.
