Very important! If it does not work to send to your email address you have to modify the email address in your WordPress profile, because WP Email SMTP and fluentSMTP will take as implicit that address. I hope it will help because it gave me some hassle.
Just as I started doing this for the first time for a client. I was reading a "how to" guide lmao I was installing mailpoet and I liked the setup for that site. I saw easy smtp or whatever and remembered a post about it being hacked or bugged over at the admin bar so I stayed away. This email logging feature looks great and I'm at siteground so this helped a lot!

Great video! The logging feature is really useful. It would be awesome to see more content on email deliverability, setting up SPF records and such. It can be a bit confusing
I did do a video on that but it was in the context of setting up email for Cloudways. But it would be a good dedicated video.

PHPMailer works flawlessly for me and has a richer feature set, including detailed Wordpress debug log recording, SMTP, DKIM and the ability to send email without authenticating to a mailbox. Once setup it just becomes a solid workhouse. Three years now, six websites, zero failures. Oh, and it's open source and comes free with Wordpress.

Correction to my previous comment, I discovered that I cannot have these 2 plugins activated at the same time. I deactivated the WP Mail SMTP which allowed the Fluent SMTP plugin to work just fine. Great, in fact. Thank you Adam.

I use a paid plugin. This one looks great and plan to start switching them over. I manage several restaurants and having an email back up feature will be a game-changer as their customer needs those emails immediately.
Great video Adam! Initial SMTP setup went smoothly and then, when I try to send a test email I got SMTP connect failed error. I have figured it out that my encryption needs to be TLS and not SSL as in your example as my port is 587 (still newbie :)). Thank you once again.

Before I moved to Fluent SMTP, I was using POST SMTP and of course, it was a free plugin and it had a Failover as well. However, POST SMTP was a one man show (not that is a bad thing) but Fluent SMTP made me feel more comfortable especially since I place it on ALL our client's sites. NOTE: Just recently POST SMTP was purchased by another company. As Adam says, it is a simple fast to set up and the Email Log is a life saver when clients complain their emails are not coming in. Just check the log to see if it was sent.
Its important to note that SES requires moving new accounts out of sandbox into production, which takes a quick application at SES and can take a day or two for approval from amazon. Typically, new users will get capped in production at a max of 50,000 emails per day, which isn't a problem for most, but if you're migrating an existing userbase and need to send a ton of emails on day one - that might be an issue for those bigger sites. You'd of course want to square that with SES before launch. They're generally fast to respond.

Thanks this fixed my issue. No emails sent through the WordPress contact forms would forward on the godaddy cpanel to personal email addresses, because the header information came from an untrusted source. I couldn't figure it out. I was going in circles for days. After installing this SMTP plugin all emails now forward properly. The GoDaddy Support reps couldn't figure it out either.

- those outgoing emails sent from Wordpress will be stored where, in case you need to check them?
- what is the PHP option and how it works?
- many times incoming emails from systems like Amazon and Mailchimp and others goes to Junk just because the amount of external references - images and links - . What do you recommend to do when building emails from Wordpress to your clients to avoid this?
Like your videos. I was hoping to find out what the two unlabeled numbers are on the graph of the plugging backend main page. It's confusing because each side has different numbers with no labels to inform what it is.

I'll have to watch this at least one more time. Usually I follow your videos and understand them. Not so with this one. Implementation yes I followed through, not hard. Yet what use is this plug in? I have a booking plugin and of course a contact form. Users send info requests or bookings through this ( I imagine Elementor forms is using PHP SMTP to send these. I receive the requests ( unfortunately impossible to reply to the sender as my email is the receiver). How does this plug in help?

Anyway, I wanted to use Fluentsmtp but after I had setup "FluentSMTP" on my website. I did a test to send email and I got an error message saying:
"Oops! SMTP Error: Could not authenticate."
Any idea why I got that error and how to fix it?

SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. I even disabled the Wordfence plugin and still not luck. Anyone have a solution?

I have already been looking at the differences and which one is better. I couldn't find anything about it.

Thanks for taking time to walk us through this plugin. Unfortunately I can not receive any of the sent emails. When I send test email it gives successful message and the log shows success. I have sent test email to 2 different gmail accounts and 1 outlook account. The mail never arrives. I have checked the inbox, spam and junk folders and there is nothing coming in. I am using Host Gator shared hosting. Note I tried WP Mail SMTP and the results were the same.
Hi guys! I did everything as it is in the video. It works fine for iCloud, Gmail etc. Anyway when I try to send an email to a client with custom email on their server (hosting) the email goes to spam. Any suggestions?

What about "Elastic Email Sender" Plugin? Is that the same as AWS or is there some difference? They integrate with Groundhogg and tell Groundhogg when a contact email is undeliverable or when they mark it spam and groundhog can unsubscribe them from the list. They say its better then SMTP but I've never used it. I wanted to see your thoughts.
I just installed this plugin and following your instructions came up with this error after testing. "Oops! PHPMailer is modified by WPMailSMTP\MailCatcherV6." Apparently there is an issue with the Wordpress upgrade as of version 5.5, August 2020. I reverted back to the previous email smtp which I was using "WP Mail SMTP" and my test email went through just fine. So if the Fluent SMTP is better perhaps they need to address this error and then try again.
