      It's because Rooney isn't one of the top few strikers in the PL or one of the top few attacking midfielders, he's a mixture.
      Is anyone really going to pick Rooney in the striker position over Drogba, Henry, C
      R7, Suarez, Salah, Shearer, etc. or Rooney over De Bruyne, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Fabregas, etc. in midfield?

    • @Hhammer
      @Hhammer Před 3 lety +58

      I think he suffers from being so versatile. Last 4-5 years he was sitting deep a lot and not just up front. If he stayed there he probably would have a few dozen more goals I’d say. I agree to a degree, as most would choose Henry, Shearer and Aguero over Rooney as strikers.

    man management is so often overlooked in football. One of the reasons why its so annoying seeing constant streams of comments about how 'Roy Keane would have a field day if he was their manager' in regards to players like Pogba. Do you think sir alex just screamed at every player and thats why they performed? do you think that ripping appart teenage ronaldo is what he did? sir alex noticed how differant players reacted differently to criticism's and he acted in line with that when addressing them.

Jose on the other hand doesn't care for ANY of that... He's so ego-driven, too childish, too stubborn to even be half the man Fergie was, on or off the pitch.
      I mean Jose will even publicly start drama with his own player out of nowhere and then hold grudges against them -_- 🤦‍♂️ its embarassing. Look at how Jose was with Ronaldo at Madrid, and then Pogba at united, Dele here at spurs.. it's pathetic really. Jose looks and acts like a complete mental midget when you compare him to Fergie

    The way Fergie would leave player out would be (and I'm just using Rooney as an example here because he's in this video) to say something like: "Wayne I think the game tomorrow isn't right for you but we're playing West Ham in 10 days and that's the one for you, you're going to dominate that game, I need you ready for that."
    Now, there might be 2 more games between the one he's being dropped for and the West Ham game in the example that logically he's also been dropped for but the player isn't thinking about being dropped for 3 games, he's thinking about that West Ham (or whoever the opponent is) game and being ready and up for it so instead of being disappointed at being dropped, he's happy that the manager is thinking of how best to use him.
    Fergie was the master at that kind of psychology. It wasn't just about keeping players who didn't play as often as they'd like happy, it was about ensuring that when they did play they gave absolutely everything.

    There's almost an embarrassing humility to Wayne that just warms you to him and I just can't help liking the bloke. Especially when you've read all those media headlines over the years that were designed to basically sell newspapers. Sure he got into some trouble, but who wouldn't when you're thrust under the world microscope at 16 from a pretty tough and impoverished environment, to begin with. I wish him well and good on Sir Alex for helping the Kid to be able to rationalise today in a very grounded and balanced way. It says a lot for both men, the respect is evident and shows a maturity that I suspect will surprise a lot of people who've bought into the Rooney narrative over the years.
