  • I needed a way to transport my bikes in an easy and efficient way opposed to using a bulky trailer, so i decided to break out the ole' scratch start TIG welder out and go to town. I did not make blueprints or anything, I just made stuff up as i went. I tested the weight capacity and I applied around 600lbs while shock loading it, so it’s more than capable to haul a regular sportbike.

That sure is a nice project. I wish I had more time to do projects with my powertig welder. I find welding so relaxing.

Scratch start? Don’t see that very much. Love it.

My friend has an Everlast scratch start TIG. He got it before they started to come out with lift start. Very handy to have such a welder.

Sebastian Adams it definitely is, I just purchased a miller xmt 350 and it has lift start tig on it with a remote so I’m excited to test it out.

I gotta wonder how bad the sunburn was welding in short and without long-sleeved shirt. Interesting video. Thanks for posting.

You need a wire welder ;) Its a bike rack, not an engine block... wire welder and get r done quickly :) Looks great though :)

Very nice work, but that seems like alot to ask of that hitch, especially on a vehicle like that. How dod it hold up after all this time?

Nothing broke so far! I’ve even hauled very large cruisers on it (with my trucks hitch)

This is my personal, I’m not a professional welder so I don’t sell them.

Haha..I was expecting you to put a 125 dirt bike on it.. I made something kind of similar last year. Been wondering about the math and how far out to put the weight from the 90. So I just did good hot welds but my brother forgot to put the pin in on purpose and lost my gsxr 1000 at 85 mph of the highway..pulled over throw the pieces on the truck bed. Knocked my brother out with a big pipe wrench and left him knocked out on the side of the 805...I did roll him on his side before driving off, but just because he is my brother and we cant pick our family

This was a while ago, I definitely wasn’t a professional welder and this was a scratch start tig set up too and I’m still not that best lol
