    Bell 214ST Tech Details
    McDermott Aviation, in joint venture with Isolair U.S.A, has developed and manufactured the ‘Tsunami’ Belly Tank system for the Bell 214ST Helicopter.
    With a capacity of 2600 litres, it is one of the highest capacity tanks available.
    This system, along with the Eliminator II Bell 204/205 Tanks manufactured by us under license with Isolair inc, provide the complete ‘in house’ fire fighting solution.
    These systems comprise of both a foam retardant system - with an automatic injection, or a gel injection tank that allows a pre determined mix to be injected by the pilot.
    The system also has a high volume (214 - 75L/second, 204 - 35L/second) Kawak “Snorkel Pump” allowing rapid ‘hover’ loading from shallow water.
    Both tank systems allow for either a “drop” of the entire load, or partial “drop” as required.
    All actions, including dump volume and drop length (time) are precisely controlled and monitored by the pilot.
    Each water load can be tracked via an onboard GPS logging system which allows us to gather data for our clients and show them exactly where the water was sourced, how much water was sourced, and also where the water was dispersed and how many Litres/ha was dropped on a particular fire.
    Crew: Single
    Capacity: 12 Passenger
    Lift capacity: 3000 Kg
    Max Hook Load: 3636 Kg
    Endurance: 3.3 Hours
    Cruise Speed: 130 Kts
    Max Air Speed: 140 Kts
    Powerplant: Honeywell T55-08D - 2930 SHP Turbine

    Mcdermott Aviation must have most off these rare beauty's snapped up by now.. They also hava a few the smaller 214B models in Australia.. Love these choppers. They are a Huey on steroids with the exception off the UH-1Y off course.. 😅

    The water release would have been great in the video . I'm just saying it could've been added.

    lets say it is 1000 lt tank.....compare to fuel and to flight cost is too little help on a fire like those we had in Greece this summer....i see these helicopters doing a long distance trip to refuel or to have water in that tank....it is made for small area fires or not??...what is 1000 lt or 2000 lt water in a big fire?? almost nothing....

    • @11AviationVideos
      @11AviationVideos  Před 10 dny

      I am not sure but they may carry 3200. They can work perfectly since they are part of a complete firefighting fleet.

      @nikospanou Před 10 dny

      @@11AviationVideos no way 3200,i see one every day over athens and the tank is too small....and i think that it cannot take water from sea and it goes kilometers to go and take water from air base....

    Ur tech details aren’t correct u might want to look into those tanks as they are helitak and not isolair and carry 3200l

      For some reason they don’t have the st on their website

      Because I never put it on the website!
      I can 100% confirm that is NOT an Isolair Tsunami tank. I know Isolair tanks better than ISOLAIR. I also know Helitak tanks. That is a HELITAK B214ST 3500 Fire Fighting tank.
