- Perhaps the scariest thing about Chris Watts is that he seems just like any other camera-shy, awkward boyfriend or husband.
In retrospect, we watch these videos and we spot the red flags but at the time no one pegged him for being anything other than just a shy partner.
Sometimes that’s all it is; sometimes there’s so much more that exists in someone beneath the surface of what we can sense.
In hindsight, we can watch her videos and see all of the red flags but I don’t think there was anything in them that could have been cause for concern at the time they were posted.
Rest In Peace Shannan, Bella, Cece and Niko.
Never envy a social media relationship.
Never most of them end in bankruptcy or this situations like this or divorce and in this one she says oh you can have a little bit cause I love this and it's 6:30 why are the kids in bed they have eaten what about family time after dinner a board game reading its so strange to me really my kids went to bedabout an hour before we did.

I deleted all of my social media (except CZcams) in 2019 and my life became soooo MUCH better. It really showed who my "friends" were. Everyone has my phone number but i haven't heard from one single person. Not one. Stay true to yourself, always.
I did exactly the same. I too deleted social media except CZcams because I was tired of everyone posting as if they are the star of their own movie. This is a dangerous way to live because it consumes people who overshare as we can see here.

This is exactly what I felt when deleting mine. There's a difference between convenience and friendship. Social media is toxic and ruins relationships by dragging them into cyber space where everyone relies on it as a communication tool so when you leave, you're no longer reachable….. Dumb!

I think everyone is confused. She worked for a company called "Thrive," so a big part of her job was to be on social media to sell/promote the product.
The way he stares at her, going through the motion, he despises her fakeness. So, divorce and walk away.

No proof yet. Why was there no blood they speak of on Chris’ body or truck? Those two don’t seem married, Chris is being totally controlled by whatever piece of work shanaan is and is involved in. He is also complicit in some way he is unable by personality submissiveness to get out of. It’s all too weird and obviously something is happening that is not being addressed openly. Shanaan is more interested in her online popularity and her business than her husband or her children. Chris’s parents know something about Shanaan to the point of separating from a negative influence and a bad influence on their son and grandkids.
I've lived with an addict and there are addiction behaviors going on in this story. Debt, deception, disrespect, delusion to name a few.

Over the years, I've come to realize whenever someone posts on social media about their family and how great and happy they are together....it's all an illusion. Not everything is so perfect behind the fake smiles.
I'm not saying that for everyone, but a large majority are usually just faking it.
But then why would someone highlight the negativity in their life? Like I’m not gonna post about the argument my husband and I just had lol. But I will post memories of our vacation bc I want to be able to look back at the good times. Doesn’t mean we’re perfect, I’m just not keen to broadcasting our bad days. People are so horrible. We forget that there are no perfect victims. If investigators and reporters picked our lives apart minute by minute, they would probably see flaws in all of us. They might see me on my phone too much, disconnected or irritated or whatever. They’d see all my problems and my weaknesses. I wish people would let this poor woman rest in peace. She was pregnant, cheated on and then murdered, and then her children were also murdered. That’s not enough for people, they have to destroy her reputation as well. Let the dead rest in peace FFS.

I'm an older woman and im so glad social media wasn't around when I was a teenager or young mom. I've never gotten a Facebook account and don't want one. It's seems too much of an intrusion of ones life. Don't get me wrong, im not putting anyone down who loves it, it's just not for me.

Watching this again and just noticed - during the mint thrive thing he actually did look engaged and genuine until she did the "it's not about you this year" when he mentioned red velvet, his whole demeanor changed after she said that. Every once in awhile I revisit this case. It’s the most interesting and devastating case I’ve ever heard. How a “family man” can put on this mask and persona for so many years and then just explode with rage, revealing what’s been building inside….
You're not seeing a real family man. You're seeing a wife who was co-dependent on her husband and staging these videos. No one really knows what he was like behind closed doors, and almost no one even knew him. He was secretive. He rarely talked to anyone. And he randomly tried to hook up with her on FB in the beginning. For all anyone knows, he's a serial killer who enjoyed her doting attention so much that he delayed the murder for six years.
That’s exactly how it happened. He suppressed the rage he felt at never being able to do or say anything within the marriage, without his wife overruling him or belittling him by telling him he couldn’t do anything correctly. He was forced to be a part-time nanny after work, while she got out her stupid camera and filmed every little detail about their lives.
In addition, he worked hard outside of the home, and she had them in debt, not once, but two or three times. She ignored bills to buy stuff that she could film. A true believer in “fake it till you make it.” Her parents had been bankrupt, while his was very frugal. The guy didn’t even own a car! (Nor did she, that’s a lease vehicle.)
He suppressed everything like a volcano and one day, the volcano lid blew off.
They ought never have married.
My friend divorced a man just like him a few years ago, he had been the "perfect" husband for years but then we then saw him for who he really was, a man who did everything because my friend told him to, he never did anything on his own, he would take the kids to the park if she told him to but if she didnt he would stay home looking at his cellphone all day, and everything was like that. When her family visited them she asked him to pick them up from the airport but if she didnt he would have never offered. Then one day he got a young mistress and abandoned his family, I should give him credit for not killing his wife and children but he effectively cut them off his life like they were nothing, he never really cared, he was just playing a part and is doing the same now with his new wife.

I dated someone who posted everything on social media. we never had an inside joke or pictures that weren’t posted for likes. He was really a great person but after a while it was like living in a fish bowl. The little moments between us felt manufactured and inauthentic. The connection we had was eventually lost in cyber space. I don’t think people realize how detrimental social media can be to relationships when you start feeling like a prop. Maybe if both people are going into it together but when it’s one persons thing and they are taking pictures of dinner and you just want to eat etc it becomes hard for the person that just wants to live life without the “likes”.
Not to mention their financial debt she was putting putting him in ...for she handled all the finances
I had a good friend that was like that, every single moment was taking videos or pictures, I hated it, I didn't even have Instagram. But I soon found out she wasn't my friend, she heard from someone that she rarely sees that I spoke badly about her. She didn't even come to me and asked if it was true. And started spreading rumors about me. That was the end for me I didn't want to speak to her or see her again

My husband doesn’t use any social media. When we first met, I would post daily and one day I realized I wasn’t ever living in the moment and over time just stopped grabbing for my phone the second something felt like a “moment to share”. Life is so much better this way!

This is a classic example of a person trying to lie to herself and portray to the world her projection of a dream life to the point where she's not seeing reality anymore. Positivity is good, but delusional is dangerous. Majority of people woulf sense that the person next to them hates being there and in combination with a cornered vulnerable narcissist, you got a huge disaster.
