Hey :) A tip i learned recently that works amazing is if you mix water, alcohol, and specifically blue dawn dishsoap together and bam bugs be gone! I have used other dish soaps but blue dawn is magic! For bad plants I up make a bowl of luke warm water and the mix of dawn and alcohol. I keep the entire plant and roots in the bowl for about an hour. Then I rinse and soak whole plant in just water to remove any left over residue. After the plant dries out for a few days I repot and voila! I have never tried it for scale but for mealies, aphids and spider mite its very efficient!
+Denise Jackson thanks you so much for the tip! And I see you're on discord!
YES! I thought i could share and look at peoples pictures maybe? Not exactly sure what discord is and/or how to use it yet though lol. I would loved to post pictures and get some help naming some of my plants :)
+Denise Jackson discord is a massive voice chat program for gamers and everyone. You can use it as an instant messenger, chat room etc. Post what you like in the plants section for all plant stuff! Hopefully more will join. I'm always there
Given To Grow how much alchohol and soap do i use??
“Pluck pluck pluck! Pluck pluck!” 😂
Lol that part made me cringe 😂 its a personal problem 😅 haha🤦♀️
91% Alcohol killed gnats instantly love this video saved me money on buying other products!
Lol my first time watching this guy and I was thoroughly entertained. Plus now I know how to get rid of my bugs. Pluck pluck pluck pluck pluck PMSL 🤣
Thank you !! New to Succulents , afraid to treat and damage the plants, leaves, roots via soil or direct contact. You’re so helpful So appreciating these videos.
+Marina Hannah hello Marina. Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner. Use insecticide soap.,its best to spray where it's infected and the soil as well. I've done it. Doesn't hard the plant,. Pretty safe. It's best to damage it a little then having the pest destroy it. If anything spray the play and repot it with new soil so that way the eggs that are laying in the soil is gone. And thank you for the support!!!
nail art brushes will get those hard to reach spots that a q-tip cannot
Thank You for the great tips, very much Appreciated. I had a huge backyard with Succulents that I propagated from one single hanging basket. Living in San Francisco the temperature was always perfect. Now in Texas it’s hard to keep them outside, due to the extreme heat. Also the Mealy bugs, I never had an issue with the Succulents indoors. Your ideas are Great & will do what You suggested.
Thanks for the tips love your channel and your quirky personality 😄
This was very helpful as well as enjoyable to watch. I love your humor, thank you so much!
Just found your channel, really love your personality and the way you talk :)
You are so vibrant & just fun to watch! Also informative! Thank You for this information & for your beautiful personality! Just bought a Mama & baby aloe vera plants & want to start them out on the right track. I'll definitely be consuming much more of your content 💜🤟🏾😆
Thank you so much, loved your video. You really made me laugh too. I'm having a bit of mealybug trouble in my cactus so you can imagine...
I definitely can, my mom and I actually are using commercial grade insecticide on our plants. Mealybugs no more and the plants are healthier
yes, doing as you say so hopefully they will be gone! Do you think alternating the two methods would be good?
This was a delightful tutorial! Can I leave the alcohol on my plant for one-to-several days, say, if I bring it indoors away from direct sunlight, to ensure the bugs have died? Or since I can visually ID the bugs, and know I've taken them all off, should I rinse it off right away?
Thanks you so much for this video! Time to save my plants
Oh I love your sass and I just wish this was how all CZcams plant videos are like
Funny!!!😂 Thank you! Very helpful!
I really liked this video. You sound like you're just sitting in a room talking to friends. I have some squigly bug that doesnt seem to be going away! And they are spreading from the looks of it.
Loved this video.
I just lost all my succulents from a mealy bug infestation.
I was devastated!!!
Thought I fixed it but now some leaves are turning almost black. Kind of rotten???🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😊
So happy I found...I'm diggin your energy! Thank you!🌵❤
I tried alcohol last year and they are back. So I have taken the plant apart and placed it in some soapy water then used a fine paint brush and clean the plants . Today I will spray then with alcohol and hopefully this will help 😩☺️
Awesome video! Quick question though - if you have succulents/cacti inside the house, and they have never been outside before, do mealybugs still appear?? Where do they come from if you have very clean house plants?
loomonda18 I hope this question gets answered because I was wondering the same thing.
Those chaps fly in with their own helicopters....So even if you keep your plants inside the house, once they know they exist, they are chartering a flight right away...I hate those guys. My dream of having a "succulents park" is in tatters.
I do know that ants carry them.
vinegar and liquid soap mixed also helps to wipe out mealybugs.....
May I know the ratio?
Love the pops in the background! Great video!
Awesome tips I just notice some mealybugs on my plants, will give it a go👍🦋🌱
Had mealy bugs on my succulents for the first time this winter. Used the alcohol and Qtip method but it seems to always comes back. I really need to get a small spray bottle and try spraying it down and see if that would keep it away for sure.
Kim gave me some great advice while I visited her store. It seems mealy bugs are spawning because the soil is too dry in the winter time. There's not enough acidic water to control them.
Won't the insecticide solution ruin the ferina? I know that rubbing alcohol won't cause I've tired that.
Thank you so much!! Glad I stocked up on alcohol!!
Very informative. Thank you for sharing
Great information, thank you!
this was so helpful bless you!!
I've been having trouble with spider mites on my new plants. I used neem oil mixed with water and insecticidal soap , but it didn't work .
I dont know if you are still responding but I found 2 mealy bugs in the heart of my cubic frost. I had noticed several time a spot of sugary dew and washed it off but then when I saw actual mealy bug I sprayed it with rubbing alcohol. They withered. Job done. BUT next day I noticed about 10 tiny black spots or trails right in the 3 centre leaves. No residue or insects. Too neat to be sooty mildew. So could it be damage where the leaves had been attacked but now healed up? Not any worse now (8 weeks ago) and damage is growing out but I'd really like to understand what has happened.
Okay so my succulent has some kind of little black insects on them... So what should I do?
Does this also work with bugs because i have outdoor suculents and their starting to get spiders
Thank you so much for the tip
Great information! Thank you! 👍
Can I use rubbing alchahol on monstera and piles plants too ?mmy succulents all leaves keep falling off why is that I just touch them and they fall off 😓😳
From my experience, it is probably because of lack of light or heat shock. Also reporting too much makes the plants roots weak which results in the vulnerability of the leaves. You asked like a long time ago 😂 but still hope this could help.
I think my succulents have spider mites as there are webs. Will the same process kill them as well?
Thank you for sharing this! I wonder what the ratio of the rubbing alcohol and the water is in that bottle?
+Danqing Dai 70% alcohol can or a little less there are rubbing alcohol that is 70%
@@ThangPlants hi, do u mix water to rubbing alcohol? Can i spray it on my chilli padi plant?
Did u even mention what percentage alcohol and whether or not to dilute?🤔I didn't hear you..i swabed my succulent with 70% alcohol and it shriveled...like it burned it..
Im not sure I’m going to use alcohol on them, I once did the Qtip thing on my portulacaria really really softly and the leaves I did rub all fell out and it almost died sooo.... I think I’m gonna stick to pesticide
are you just spraying with rubbing alcohol (or mixing it with something else) and also, will the plant be ok? thank you !
Okay so, I'm new. Do you spray water to rinse off the residue after few days spraying alcohol? Or you can leave it for 1 week to spray water?
Hey there, thanks for the informative videos!
I live in California where ants are a constant nuisance, though I've never had problems with them in my potted succulents- until now. When repotting some I noticed they were infested. And now see another pot with them. Eeeek!!! How do I get rid of them??
I would uproot the plant and put it into a quarantined area, get rid of the soil in the pots and clean the pot out. Leave the plant away from others for a month's time, watch over and see if there's still mealy bugs. Never let your soil be dry or even yet super dry. That's when the bugs will come out.
If you want to get rid of ants safely use corn meal! They take back to the hive and they consume meal and they pop like pop corn. I don’t like killing anything but, 😩 it’s between your plants ant them 🤔.
Thanks for the information man
Hey i did the spray on all like 100 pots. But it did caused sort burn on all my big Lola succulents. Im so bumbed. Only lola got a problem. What do you recommend
Thanks! For info👍🏽👍🏽
hi, I love your advice about succulents and I follow it, but now I noticed a problem at my epiphyllum, it looks transparent in some parts, can you please advice me about???
so informaitional! and ur halalrious
You're amazing to watch. Super entertaining and very knowledgable! Thank you for taking the time to post this for us!
I sprayed rubbing alcohol and it turned the leaves purple. 😞
thanks for share
Any time!
Hey! More and more questions of course!
So I have two echeverias (lime and chile??) and they’re both starting to produce buds in between the leaves. There’s one bloom that is about half the size of the original plant. I have no clue what to do with them or how to treat them. I’ve looked everywhere on CZcams and can’t find anything. Are they like bloom stalks? They’re not really forming stalks so I don’t know. Do I treat them like a cutting and let it callous then plant it? I have so many growing that at this point I’d have about seven more echeverias! And thanks for answering my leaf propagation questions! They’re doing awesome!
Hi Cassie! I am so glad that your propagation is doing really well! You can treat them as new cuttings. Just remember that if you want your mother plant to grow bigger remove the blooms and pups. that's what I usually do. They bloom stalk and pups just drain the mother plant.
EveryThang okay!! I was noticing that! It basically sucked the life out of a few leaves so I think that I’m just going to end up using the stem for propagation in the end!! Thanks for the help!
no worries! Best of luck with them in the winter time though. I'm sure it'll be fine
Wonderful video! I watched with great interest and subscribed to your channel. Best wishes for you and a wonderful weekend!
Hello Thang so do you suggest alcohol for gnats as well? And if so what about if your succulents are all in a sunny window? Will they burn after you apply alcohol to them?
I'd actually suggest you go to a plant type of vendor and ask for a really nice bug killer. THat's what my mom and I did and our plants are flourishing very well, we spray them every week and no burns so far. I've stopped it with the alcohol stuff and things, just doesn't really work well.
What happens if you get black spots because of the mealybugs infestation
I see white hairs on my succulents. What should i do?
perhaps I missed it what works for gnats ?
What is the alcohol percent you use?
Hi have 91% alcohol can I use it on my succulents diluted of course
Hello I have a question. I'm desperate. I just bought a string of tears plant that's beautiful and growing so well, I've only had it for about a week. But the problem I noticed is in the soil there's a lot of small bugs. Some flying and some not flying one's. I've put it outside even though I want it as an indoor plant and so far no improvement, the pests are still there. Please let me know what you think I should do??
Start spraying it with pesticides
Do you dilute the alcohol with water when you use it as spray?
Of course, 70% alcohol
Does this work on cactus?
Can you pour it
No... Just spray
do u have to dilute the alcohol?
Of course! Unless you want your succulent to burn
Muito bom maravilhoso vídeo !amei

It is not posdible to remove mealy bug with Q tips on a vegetable garden, there are way too much works to fo.
+BadaiSnyFounet 4ever errr sorry I have no experience with a vegetable garden, maybe try insecticide soap for veggie gardens
No offense but gnats are pronounced Nats
Would be nice if you’re going to talk bugs , actually have some as point of reference.
Thanks! For info👍🏽👍🏽❤️
What percentage alcohol do you use?
+Julie Yong oops forgot to mention that, 70%
EveryThang thank you
