    Hey :) A tip i learned recently that works amazing is if you mix water, alcohol, and specifically blue dawn dishsoap together and bam bugs be gone! I have used other dish soaps but blue dawn is magic! For bad plants I up make a bowl of luke warm water and the mix of dawn and alcohol. I keep the entire plant and roots in the bowl for about an hour. Then I rinse and soak whole plant in just water to remove any left over residue. After the plant dries out for a few days I repot and voila! I have never tried it for scale but for mealies, aphids and spider mite its very efficient!

      +Marina Hannah hello Marina. Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner. Use insecticide soap.,its best to spray where it's infected and the soil as well. I've done it. Doesn't hard the plant,. Pretty safe. It's best to damage it a little then having the pest destroy it. If anything spray the play and repot it with new soil so that way the eggs that are laying in the soil is gone. And thank you for the support!!!

    Thank You for the great tips, very much Appreciated. I had a huge backyard with Succulents that I propagated from one single hanging basket. Living in San Francisco the temperature was always perfect. Now in Texas it’s hard to keep them outside, due to the extreme heat. Also the Mealy bugs, I never had an issue with the Succulents indoors. Your ideas are Great & will do what You suggested.

    This was a delightful tutorial! Can I leave the alcohol on my plant for one-to-several days, say, if I bring it indoors away from direct sunlight, to ensure the bugs have died? Or since I can visually ID the bugs, and know I've taken them all off, should I rinse it off right away?

    I dont know if you are still responding but I found 2 mealy bugs in the heart of my cubic frost. I had noticed several time a spot of sugary dew and washed it off but then when I saw actual mealy bug I sprayed it with rubbing alcohol. They withered. Job done. BUT next day I noticed about 10 tiny black spots or trails right in the 3 centre leaves. No residue or insects. Too neat to be sooty mildew. So could it be damage where the leaves had been attacked but now healed up? Not any worse now (8 weeks ago) and damage is growing out but I'd really like to understand what has happened.

    • @quynhanh7241

      From my experience, it is probably because of lack of light or heat shock. Also reporting too much makes the plants roots weak which results in the vulnerability of the leaves. You asked like a long time ago 😂 but still hope this could help.

    Hey there, thanks for the informative videos!
    I live in California where ants are a constant nuisance, though I've never had problems with them in my potted succulents- until now. When repotting some I noticed they were infested. And now see another pot with them. Eeeek!!! How do I get rid of them??

    • @ThangPlants
      @ThangPlants  Před 6 lety

      I would uproot the plant and put it into a quarantined area, get rid of the soil in the pots and clean the pot out. Leave the plant away from others for a month's time, watch over and see if there's still mealy bugs. Never let your soil be dry or even yet super dry. That's when the bugs will come out.

    • @lieselgutierrez7439
      @lieselgutierrez7439 Před 6 lety +2

      If you want to get rid of ants safely use corn meal! They take back to the hive and they consume meal and they pop like pop corn. I don’t like killing anything but, 😩 it’s between your plants ant them 🤔.

    Hey! More and more questions of course!
    So I have two echeverias (lime and chile??) and they’re both starting to produce buds in between the leaves. There’s one bloom that is about half the size of the original plant. I have no clue what to do with them or how to treat them. I’ve looked everywhere on CZcams and can’t find anything. Are they like bloom stalks? They’re not really forming stalks so I don’t know. Do I treat them like a cutting and let it callous then plant it? I have so many growing that at this point I’d have about seven more echeverias! And thanks for answering my leaf propagation questions! They’re doing awesome!

    • @ThangPlants
      @ThangPlants  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Cassie! I am so glad that your propagation is doing really well! You can treat them as new cuttings. Just remember that if you want your mother plant to grow bigger remove the blooms and pups. that's what I usually do. They bloom stalk and pups just drain the mother plant.

    • @checka_bookout
      @checka_bookout Před 6 lety

      I'd actually suggest you go to a plant type of vendor and ask for a really nice bug killer. THat's what my mom and I did and our plants are flourishing very well, we spray them every week and no burns so far. I've stopped it with the alcohol stuff and things, just doesn't really work well.
