I remember watching this on Saturdays. Great memories.
Damn! This takes me back to my teen years. This show would come on Friday nights at 11:30pm in my hometown. Later on there would be a replay on Saturday Afternoons. It's a shame what became of Dee Barnes. She should've been doing a show like The Breakfast Club or even a syndicated talk show. To have her career suffer because Dr. Dre hit her is a grave injustice.
Sunday nights for me
This show was off the hook back in the days- always came through with the real dope hip hop interviews, videos, news!!
One of my favorite episode was with DJ Quik, AMG and 2nd II None...
Word man I remember that episode
This was the show back in my high school years. I used to watch this on Saturdays and the replays on Sundays in my hometown. Loved watching Sista Dee.
The Good ole days, Pump it up was a way of life.. I couldn’t wait for this show to come on, We miss you Sista D
This was the golden era of hip hop man time flys hip hop just turned 50
Watching this brings back memories from my youth!! I watched this faithfully on channel 32 in chicago
I was 8 yrs old watching this show 😮 I loved watching this I miss the 90s
Here in Los Angeles it came on at like 1am I think we all used to be on the phone 3 way up trying to stay up to watch it!!! Good times!!!
I was a sophomore in college in 1992. A Black kid from NYC going to a small college in the middle of rural Maine. Luckily there were other people of color on campus. I and two of my best friends would meet every Friday night in somebody's dorm room. We would have Dominoes Pizza or local barbecue chicken and a huge jug of Boones' Strawberry Wine Cooler and watch Pump It Up before heading out to find some keg party on campus. Those were great days.
OMG! Soooo 90s wow! Best decade ever!! #I❤️da90s
I love when Chubb Rock pauses and says musicians
My cousin was the producer of Pump it Up. 💪🏾
Classic LA before the internet.
This is easily one of the very best CZcams channels ever. You're doing the lord's work. Thank you!
When rap was worth listening to
Right? Right.
Amen!!! SAY IT AGAIN!!!!
34:21 Dee is sooo cute. Also, RIP Shock G/ Humpty.
Really loved this show!!!
AWWWWW my teen years!!!
I miss watching Pump It Up. The first time I caught it on Fox 5 was on an early Sunday morning at 1 o'clock April 1, 1990 in The Bronx while there was no BET nor MTV.
Wow all the great rappers, just wow! Rest In Peace to the ones we lost 🕊 meanwhile others moved on to become successful actor’s/actresses/and other great careers.
I never heard any commentary from you but since you rocking with REEL BLACK
I'M ROCKING WITH YOU
PEACE
we are live chatting
Omg this takes me back
Good times!!!!
Growing up my Pops was to cheap to pay for cable TV so when all my friends had BET and MTV to catch Rap Videos all I had was Music Video Connection (WUSA CBS 9) and Pump It Up (WTTG Fox 5) until I found a cable guy to hook us up for $50. But Pump It was my Saturday Night ritual from 7th-10th grade.
Rest in power humpty and biz marke
Man you just got all the footage don't you
Wow, just the intro alone warrants a thumbs up! Along with Showtime at the Apollo, I didn't miss these shows back in the day!
Thx Woods & Reelblack 😉
Amazing
Chubb Rock was before his time..filled with thought and intellect
thank you for your archival & sharing
@27:35 very cool Mix A Lot is so candid and dropping knowledge about the industry. BEEPERS
I just wana know what Cube and Dee said to get Dre all f'd up
Buddy at the record store, during Chubb Rock's segment, couldn't even wait til recording was done to start fixing them records.
If Dee hadn't had been assaulted by Dr. Dre, I'd help her keep her show "Pump It Up" on the air!
Wouldn’t be worth considering the lack of talent unless the show focused on the underground
R.I.P biz markie
crazy didn't know about this Tape.. but I do have many of these orig episodes on tape. Peace.
the intro is amazing... back when we actually had decades... what the F distinguishes the 00s from the 10s?
Yessssss! Hip Hoooop
@ 12:40 .. Dana is such a lovely lady. Peace Latifah
@32:15 - future vibes right there.. awesome clip.
She is reporting that she is homeless now. So sad!
This is sad to hear. Los Ángeles is tough. I am confident she bounces back
Chubb Rock said nobody was thinking about Rick James until Hammer came out with his song ? Wow Chubb,..I was just about to give him much props for his positive message music,..that was disappointing !!! KRS 1 , and Chubb Rock were trying to teach the youngins',..until the industry changed the music to cross us up !!!
Music started changing before that. Was just telling the homies that in the 70's , if you wanted to ride on the opps, niggas would listen to Bobby Womack or Al Green or EW&F. The guns still worked fine. That's why old niggas don't understand us today. We do extra shit for NO REASON.
My youth
Wise intelligent comes so naturally P.R.T
OMG I don’t remember the Stanley Clarke and Gangstarr episode 🥰🤩Jazzmatazz
I got in so much trouble calling this ish 😂
8:00 Sista D Barnes asks Chubb Rock what do you think of sampling?
WoW Queen Latifah!!..want you back, sis
I can't find how many episodes and/or seasons of this show there was ! Can somebody help me out?
I never caught that Geto Boys SEgment.. I liked how honest they were - 'hey we were put together in the studio'. Yeah that first Geto boys album has almost no resemblence to the later stuff.
👍🏾
Naughty by Nature Treach kept it ☝🏽
Digital Underground Shock G is smart and musically talented. I think he is prolly a musical genius but chose selling a quick hit record, instead.
I forgot how FINE that sista is.
I just want the theme song
Was that Maia Campbell who asked Flava Flav the question?
I have to visit my childhood and I realized that I'm a damn dinosaur
Is it too late to join the Posse?😮
@38:23 Del showed them all the method @32:15 - that was kinda corny with them all doing their little routine.
Will Smith is such a liar...lol
Used to watch this in LA on KDOC at 2am when rap wasn't popular or mainstream, it was underground. Nowadays it's all 💩y nonsense.
Dooooopppppeeee
Anyone got the Boo Yaa T.R.I.B.E. interview
Fu Schnikems ..makes me miss the art of freestyle
