Repotting My "Fancy" Ficus microcarpa, The Bonsai Zone, June 2024

- It's been three years since I repotted my Ficus microcarpa into it's new pot. Today I give it a trim and repot it once again.
This tree is one of the Ficus sisters. Two trees that were almost identical when I bought them as small nursery stock. I am growing them in different styles, one I call "Plain", and this one is "Fancy".

What a healthy looking tree top to bottom. You are the root master.
Now I know why your root pruning works for you. The trees feel the care you take and are one with you as you handle their roots. Almost like they are your little puppy dog of 2 weeks old. Great connection you have with the trees, Dr. Nigel.

yeah a microcarpa is a tiger bark

: What should be the ideal height of a bonsai, to its trunk thickness?
It depends on the type and style of the tree. I like to look at trees in nature and try and match the proportions to a real life tree!
