Lake Placid is beautiful. It's a small town, but it has a lot to be proud of; it hosted the 1932 & 1980 Winter Olympics. More recently, it produced Lana Del Rey, who grew up there.
I visited it on a 95 degree day in Aug of 1996.I enjoyed visiting the venues and the guy I talked to said Lake Placid is too small to host the games again.
@@hattiem.7966 True. Despite not being able to host the Olympic Winter Games again, it can however host the Winter Youth Olympic Games which Lake Placid seems interested in. The 2032 Winter Youth Olympics is a real possibility.
@@alextwa They had the World University Games in LP last winter.The French Alps will have the 2030 Winter games and Salt Lake City got the 2034 games recently.The IOC loves Salt Lake City.
oh this is where lana del rey grew up. It’s really beautiful, not too wealthy if i’m not mistaken. Definitely looking forward to go there sometime in the next few years ❤
This is one of the best places on earth! My family used to come here for my sister's skating competitions. We used to stay at the Golden arrow :)

I see the street and sidewalk revitalization is basically complete. I was there in July’21 when it was in full swing.

In addition to the 1980 Winter Olympics the 1932 Winter Olympics were held here.

I lived in Lake Placid years ago and some things have changed but I noticed that Roomers and Bazzi's Pizza is still there.
All (not some) the facilities from the Olympics are still around, and even better
Road the bikes there years ago, beautiful place. If you stay at a hotel on Main St. through a weekend it will be loud deep into the night ... just saying

Generally mid/late fall to early spring.
Not positive but I think lake Placid hosted earlier Olympics …there were old dormitories when I visited there in the early 80’s.
