  • From ebay - PTZ Mini Speed Doom Camera IP 5MP 2592x1944 Pan/Tilt 30x Zoom Speed Dome Camera.
    It's a lie - in reality it's only 10X zoom, although they later claimed that it's 18X.

10x zoom does not mean 10 times magnification !
The magnification of a lens is determined by the focal length in relation to the image diagonal.

It's good practice to port scan your IP camera just to check what services might be running, this goes for any new network attached device for that matter) its not so hard just use google and you will learn a new skill which is super useful and pretty interesting . I use the software Nmap which is free > google is your friend.
This is a really bad case of bad software and firmware design and a few blatant lies.
Seriously ,do not let these connect to ANY external internet ever.
this firmware can break your entire network security completely if a competent attacker really wanted to he can get into whatever is on your LAN. I wont go into details but the lowdown is that the embedded linux is running everything as root with telnet exposed and backdoor account to boot.
If anybody is interested I can talk more. this is a common problem with a ton of cheap security cameras.
its sad because a lot of these camera have pretty nice hardware which is like 90 percent of the "make a IP camera" job. It's the firmware / software that is complete and total trash.
Basically any camera that has this interface or similar is the same
In fact pretty much any camera using "cloud" or "UID" or "P2P" which is almost every cloud cam, android app cam, cheap home camera and quite a few expensive ones as well (think easy setup and internet accessible using some app) they are also really really dangerous but just in a different way. I have personally "checked" to see if these cameras are out in the wild .............

I got one of these about two weeks ago and have been doing pretty extensive testing. I run Blue Iris with 12-15 cameras (some come and go during testing) and have about two years experience with BI. Of course, I know nothing about how this camera will hold up with time. Here are my thoughts so far...
    - for the price, pretty amazing. I run several Panasonic PTZ cameras 5-10 years old. They were commercial-grade cameras costing $800-1000 when new, but I bought them used on eBay for $300-500 with no outdoor dome. I made my own domes (a lot of work) to use them outdoors. This eBay camera is plug-and-play for outdoor use.
    - It is not very good for close-up (under 30ft) use. It excels at long-distance viewing of small areas - as in observing birds or wildlife at a distance. The minimum focal length is not wide-angle as on the Panasonic cameras. I'm using it to monitor a corner of my property about 100 ft. from the house that is not covered by my other cameras. It works well for that.
    - As others have commented, at night, the IR illumination lights up closer (20 ft-30 ft) objects strongly so that anything in the more distant background is in invisible blackness. I haven't found any way to control the brightness manually.
    - So far, even with frame rate set to 6, the camera seems to create a much heavier CPU load on my Blue Iris server than my other cameras. I hope to find a way to reduce the CPU load.
Conclusion: within those limitations, if it will meet your needs, the camera is a great value for the price. I have 30 days to return it, but I'm leaning towards keeping it as it fills a need in my system.

      @DaveGee2010 Před 5 lety

Really thoughtful write up! Just curious, did you keep this? If so do you have any additional tips after 6 months of usage? Maybe you could do a review on your channel? I have about 1 acre of land that is surrounded by 'nature space' so we get lots of wildlife and most of the security cams aren't really suited to capturing deers and fox and bear - the wildlife tends to stay on the back property line so having a nice zoom perked up my ears... for the price maybe I'll just pull the trigger - $74 bucks US for a 5MP PTZ is really hard to turn down... but if you have any 'bad news' I'd love to hear it before I pull the trigger ;)

I do have 1 dome PTZ camera on the front corner of my house. Normally looking down the side of my house. But I can turn it all the way around to look down the front of my house and the front door and porch. It only has 3 times optical zoom on it. I'm sure 30 would be nice to have.

For the same price (assuming you got it around $350ish) you can get a Dahua SD49225T-HN-W that is orders of magnitude better in build quality and still has almost identical specs in terms of resolution, zoom, etc.

Of course they don't compair with professional cameras such as Axis , Panasonic etc but they do a pretty decent job for non professional users. Sunba uses Sony sensor ( as most of Dahua products ) . At night with all the laser beam activated they draw 25w out of the POE injector ( exactly as specfied ) I son't see how they could overheat ... ;-) that being said you really need to pay attention to the quality of the POE injector you get , just like smartphones don't buy a 2$ charger if you expect your device to last .

Looks like he doesn't answer questions. Depending on the camera there could be a physical reset button either on the end of a cable with a protective cap over it, or under a flap/door on the camera body. If there is no physical button you can try one of the free software programs. A few you can try are SADP, EasyVMS, and Easytool. You run the program and it (hopefully) will discover your camera, you can then change the camera's IP address and gateway to match your network. After that you log into the camera using the IP address you just assigned. A lot of these cameras, especially the older ones, will only let you login using Internet Explorer - no Firefox, Edge, etc.

The model nr is JK-HD54FDM550AP. About ~160$ on Aliexpress or eBay. The model JK-PHD54FDM550AP (with an extra "P") supports PoE, but only with standard 803.at (up to 25watts, not 802.3af i.e. up to 15 watts). You can also use a PoE injector and splitter cable duo (~5$) which is quite handy.
There is also one with audio recording capability (built-in microphone) but I yet have to find that model nr.

    • @marv50208
      @marv50208 Před 4 lety +1

Check your "router" settings first to see if this solves your problem. The camera arrives at your doorstep with a default IP address of 192.168.1.110. I bet you can't see the camera on your network because your "router" LAN IP address is probably set to 192.168.0.1. If you temporarily change your "router" LAN IP address to 192.168.1.1 you will be able to access the camera configuration and while you're in the camera settings change the camera factory IP address to 192.168.0.xxx (xxx means whatever number your other devices aren't using) and then you should be able to access the camera settings after you change your router LAN IP address back to your original 192.168.0.1. I just killed a couple of days figuring this one out so see if this solves your problem.

Most defiantly they are and in abundance. ill just leave it at that.
If somebody wanted to be a rubbish human and really mess with you and your life, they most certainly could. I'm a nice guy, I don't want to be a shithead so i didn't mess with people i just check after I looked into this for my own sake for my own cams .honestly I know just barely enough about technical stuff to do proper digging / research and wow, did i ever discover a big pile of stinky shit right in my own home!!!!! that shit is might be in your home to!
At this point you might be like me in thinking "so what ,it's not in the bedroom! and even if it was I'm so good looking and dashing I don't even care!" but you should remember its not just the camera itself that is exposed, its potentially every device on your on your network ......Phones >Computers > "smart" devices >Servers of all sorts and with all things..... you name it.
I've seen it with my own eyes and im just spreading the good word. Peace

I have a handi-cam from 2011 and the comparison of 30X zoom from that with the new PTZ camera returns the same results over a long distance. I don't think you understand the distance perspective when it comes to field of view and image magnification. Good review otherwise!
