man this album is a literal figment of perfection. was 15 when i first heard this album, and now im 18.. still one my favorite pieces of post rock, truly soul captivating!!

Mono is simply life-changing. Have been listening to them since their early days. To me they are easily some of the greatest artists this century has had produced yet...of any medium, of any genre.
Oh, and one must see them live...otherworldly.

Everyone has sufficiently praised this incredible music so there's no need in me repeating them, but can I just point out how cool the album art is? They're diving into an ocean, hand-in-hand to school of hammerhead sharks. The colours are so intense too.
Hitting the repeat button for a third time today in a row and the night its still young.

Seeing them live in 2009 is one of my best experiences. Such beautiful sound. Sometimes I would want to cry from happiness and how elegant everything sounds from them. Absolutely outstanding.

This music is unreal. I came to this above realization as "Pure as Snow" began to get more and more intense. Such a great piece of music. MONO will be a band I will be thankful to have seen one day...I have not seen them yet...BUT I will.

I love simplistic music interrupted by moments of complicated layering. The ethereal moments are songs of the soul whilst the darker moments are the emotions or delusions created by the mind in the physical world. Whenever I listen to GYBE, Silver Mt. Zion, Mono, etc. I am reminded I can walk with a foot in both worlds. Thank you for posting.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor. GYBE. Not everyone appreciates this band because the tracks are long and the music does not swell as often or as high as others. Like the ocean, sometimes it is soft and other times it roars, but always making sounds all the same. This band, you learn to appreciate the soft layers and occasionally they will try to blow your speakers with an unexpected tremor. GYBE kind of went their own ways and a few remained on to form Thee Silver Mt Zion. This is far more rewarding to most for the tracks are shorter and the epic frequency turned up a notch. I would recommend Horses in the Sky or Born Into Trouble as they are my favorite. There is a minimalist speaking track called "built than burned, hurrah, hurrah" that will blow your mind.

Godspeed you was one of the first bands that introduced me into the world of lesser known music years and years ago. Good stuff. I still occasionally reference some "lyrics" from their albums.

This may be my favorite slow paced thought provoking album in this world. there are many like this but not many come close to the emotional vibe and intensity this album creates.
Favorite song TODAY is The Battle to Heaven.
I hope to see The Battle to Heaven performed live one day.

IDK when or where I discovered this band. I just remember I was going through some rough time and went on a self discovery journey. I was alone in my new 2nd home with only a foam mattress on the floor (as we did not completely moved in yet). For a whole week I isolated myself with just my computer. I wish I knew where I discovered this band. I think it was from an anime.

Very cool band.Just stumbled on by accident.Some of it sounds like music by The Church post Starfish era when they became more of a heavy guitar/psychedelic sounding band.
