Orcas (with a little surprise in the end) in São Miguel, Azores | TERRA AZUL™

For the first time this year, our team spotted a pod of Orca (Orcinus orca) swimming near the coast! The small pod was made up of 7 individuals, including at least 2 males, females and…a newborn calf! It still had some fetal folds and had a yellowish colouring to the skin, indicating it to have been born very recently! Sightings of these majestic animals are incredibly rare here in the Azores so everyone onboard, crew and whale watchers alike, felt super lucky to spot them in the afternoon 🖤🤍
