Blessings to all the stepfathers, adoptive fathers and foster fathers out there! You didn’t have to be, but your heart was where it needed to be.

My husband got 2 sons, they were 4 and 14 when we married. They called him dad the day we got engaged. They called their bio father daddy, but he didn't want to be a part of their lives, and they just call him by name now. But "Dad" is still there for them!

This is a song very dear to my heart . My husband and I met when my son was 14months old . Our first date he tools is both out . I knew then he was my man . 28 years later our son passed away . My husband was there for our son everyday for those 28 years . His biological Sperm Donor as I call him . Was never there that day he showed up . He even said yea I will pay for half his funeral. When I went to take our part ( out of my husbands 401 ) the funeral home said yes ( older man came and payed the other part . They told me who it was . Nope wasn’t his biological donor ….. it was his 89 year old father . I thank God I have the man in my life that didn’t have to be a dad to our Beautiful Son TJForever29

My stepfather passed on 9-7-01. Two day before what happened on 9-11-01. This song came on. I had to pull over. Because every part of this song was what my stepfather did for me and with me. My daughter was only two. She never go the chance to meet him. She is about to turn 25 in the next day. And going to get married 7-!-23. He would have loved to be there for her. In away he will be

I met the man I call my dad when I was 3. He didn't have to love me, he chose to. Unfortunately, I lost him to cancer in 2005, he was only 56.

My daughter's father walked away when she was 18 months old. I met my husband when she was three. Six months later, she started calling him daddy, we married. At age 5, he adopted her. She is now 44. He passed away 10 years ago

I was adopted in 1951. My mother drove three and a half hours to pick me up. I was at the Salvation Army in San Antonio Tx. I was told she walked in to pick me up, and I was mad at the the whole world. I was evidently wet, and not happy about it.She held out her arms, and I happily left with this strange new person. She drove me home, and placed me in a homemade playpen that she had made. About two hours later, the man who was to be my father, hero, and teacher walked in. She said he stopped, looked at me and smiled. And I looked at him and smiled back. It was love at first sight, and forever. He became the dad he didn't have to be.

I used to play this song for my daddy every year on Father's Day. I met him when I was 5, and he raised me and my brother. He was the best dad. ❤

When my son married his wife, she had a daughter. He treats that sweet girl like his own. One proud mama here.

  • @jseedoubleu

I have a different father than my 3 older siblings. I came late. My dad took in 3 young kids, loved him as his own, took them places, did things with them, taught them to swim. When my oldest brother got married he dedicated this song to him and danced with him. My dad cried his eyes out like sobbing. Unfortunately he passed three months before my sister got married. She played this song for him for the father daughter dance. My brothers, my mom, my grandma, my stepgrandpa, my aunt, her hubby all just gathered in a huge circle, danced and cried

This song is my husband. We started dating when I was 18 with a 3 month old. Still married. My son is 24 he adopted him at 3 after we married. Now my son is being the dad he didn't have to be. He started dating his girlfriend when her son was 8 months and hes almost 4. It's amazing to watch it all come full circle. WE MUST RAISE GOOD MEN!!!!!!!!

This always makes me tear up. I married my husband when my son was nine. My son's father was not a constant in his life, and my husband wound up being Dad to him. My husband and I just celebrated twenty-one years of marriage, and my husband is still always there for my son, and my son knows he can always go to him when needed. Love, love, love this song.

My dad met my mom shortly after she had me. She was a single mom back in the 60's when this was a much bigger social scandal than it is today. We both won the lottery with this man. He married my mama, and then adopted me. Two days after the adoption papers were finalized, my dad died from a freak heart attack in his early 40's. I suspect it was probably more to do with an arrhythmia, and if it had happened a few years later he probably could have been fitted with a pacemaker. Mom never remarried, she didn't even date a guy until I was very nearly a grown a man myself. While we didn't have a long time to be together, I'm thankful to God for my Dad and his courage to step up and be a man and the example I would need for the rest of my life.
