  • An overview of the software for my Hologram Printer, which "prints" 3D holograms by scratching arcs into surfaces like plastic or metal. The printer was developed in 2009 at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
See Bill Beaty's site for more information on the phenomenon itself: www.amasci.com/...

Thank you for bringing this into the world, I bet someone with a mind like yours has done many things in the last 15 years

My favorite yt video of all time. So thought provoking in so many ways. Imagine reading an ancient cave painting of a hand print in color. A civilization that reads by color. You could imagine forever.

A very nice Fusion between Art and Science.
Please post some examples when you`re finished with your prototype :)

That's totally possible with this method. Just draw portions of an arc instead of a whole arc. When the viewer reaches the point where the reflection travels to the end of the arc, it disappears. I showed that in the video; the software supports generating these, but we never quite finished the printer. I plan on making one out of lego mindstorms later this year, though :)

Hello Mike, just by any chance is it possible to obtain a copy of the program just as it is. I'm trying to trace the circles corresponding to every point (just a simple picture of the circles works for me) and I just notice your program already does that. It is OK if you want an economic compensation for the copy of the software, just let me know the amount.

Software for drawing scratch holograms. Now to print some scratch holograms with a 3d printer with a knife blade attachment.

Nice software interface. I wonder if you could use a 3d printer with a small delta z to print your images? Post more videos.

Mike, how do I get a copy of your software? I've been doing some heavy-duty searching and can't find a copy. Raul's program isn't available anymore. I found some code on Ohloh and Sourceforge, but frankly don't know what to do with it. Can you help me out?
