In a nutshell, he is saying life is good and you can be happy anywhere as far as you don't stress yourself. To illustrate, he says a rich man brought his kids to the countryside to pay a visit to a peasant family, in the purpose to make the kids realize how lucky they were to live in a city and how other people were suffering. After the stay, the man asked the kids what they have noticed. And the kids replied: we have a home and a garden but they have the whole nature for them. We have a swimming pool but they have a river that flows unceasingly, we buy our food in stores but they grow their own food. The moral of the story, while envying your neighbour, you might be happier than you think you are.
