Eminem was dope before he was discovered. He was already a monster before Dre found him. Dre just happened to see it and jumped on it because he knew it was only a matter of time before he broke the surface.
Infinite was Eminem's FIRST published song that was available for purchase. Think about that. His first ever song that was "out there" for people to hear would still smash everyone who is currently in the rap game. He could've dropped ONLY this album and still been considered one of the dopest MCs to ever live. He just didn't get the recognition for it back then.

how do you consider someone dope who doesnt get the recognition? Your logic makes no sense. This album flopped regardles of how amazing it was. He was not accepted in a place dominated by black artists back then.
And it took Dre to make the people aknowledge him. So you cant say that it was only a matter of time before he broke the surface. Without Dre that wouldnt be possible because the people rejected him of his style. It sounded too much like AZ for example. Thats when Slim Shady was born which gave EM the hype. And the rest is history

@@ey.9329 Nah, greatness is greatness no matter what in my opinion. If no one ever heard Eminem, and 100 years later they found this track, I almost guarantee people would consider it dope.
Really this is kinda like the "If a tree falls in the forest" argument
If an Em in the city raps but no one is around to hear it, is it still the goat?

This was actually the "demo" that he would shop to major labels, but when people heard it they AGREED--he sounded too much like Nas and AZ. They wrote him off as a clone; a white guy sounding Nas clone. And that's why they passed. Which was kinda fortuitous, because that's what led him to the Slim Shady character that blew him up. THAT'S what made him DIFFERENT. Nas and AZ can't do Slim Shady; nobody else can.

EMINEM’s Infinite album came out in 1996, two years before he first met Dr. Dre. The biggest criticism he got back in the day was that he sounded too much like AZ and Nas so he went back and reworked his style eventually coming up with the style you heard on The Slim Shady LP.

I loveeeeee this track. It’s got such a great vibe. Totally 90’s. Everyone always says it’s like Nas. And I hear that. But I also hear more. The sound of the fugees and digitable planets, who had such incredible dream like production and just float away in your head kind of jazz infused sound, cadence and flow, almost magical even. But there is also something very Eminem here. THE LYRICS, WORDPLAY AND ALLITERATION. They are Eminem off the wall-esque, creative, unique, even for then. They are EXCEPTIONAL. The Detroit based bass brothers produced it. As well as the Slim Shady EP and got a lot of credit on the Slim Shady LP on the songs used from the EP and transferred to the LP; where Dre further produced it of course, as well as like 3 new tracks he and Em did once they linked up. But it’s safe to say, they became quite wealthy just off of the Slim Shady tracks alone.

Most if not all songs on This record was produced by mr porter.it was a indie release that's why it flopped it was sold mostly in the D and a few other places but never caught the masses which led him to creating the slon shady alter ego cause they said he sounded to much like az and nas

Pretty sure Denaun produced this, this was before Dre. He’s been that man.

But in the third verse, when he said "The man who never had a plan b" did he also me himself as a father w/ Hailie (since Kim did take a plan b)? Might be a reach
