As a full time urban beekeeper who wholly believes in upcycling materials, I dumpster dive at construction sites to retrieve materials to build my bee boxes, native bee cavity nests, and bird and bat houses. My experience has shown me that certain dimensions DO NOT matter...build it to provide a safe and dry location and the wildlife will come.
