Haha I actually had to check my video to see if I had accidentally left on a higher speed.
Even though it feels like it is sped up it somehow also made the 16 minutes go faster as if it sped up actual time.

Tom and Emily are bringing the weird spark that makes SUSD so unique in the board game spice. Quinns you know how to pick em. Loving the direction of the channel nowadays.
As someone who plays a LOT of solo games, Emily definitely captured the feeling when someone says "wait, there are solo board games?" and you begin to tell them about as many amazing games as you can before they run away. I feel seen. Thanks Emily.

Not a channel regular by any means, so this is the first I've seen of Emily. But I like her, she seems like a good fit for SU&SD.
The "Oh, NOW you do it!" towards the end, when she clicked her finger and the game magically appeared next to her made me laugh more than it probably should have :)

It's annoying, but it all adds up and can still be very useful for paying for small items.
man everytime it looks like SUSD is verging even slightly into losing it's edge they pop a wheelie, rev up a ramp, flip and fall onto their face and get up and bow and run at the ramp, this time on foot and succeeeding on foot, and leaping off the top of the ramp to freeze frame in eighties success pose.

I love your sense of humor and comedic timing lol, but I honestly was really excited by the title since I've been building up my solo gaming collection lately. Mostly a lot of games that are cooperative, but have an option to be played solo, so it's nice to see games made to be played solo entirely and I really want to try Dorf and Northwood!
Also, I was right there with you on the childhood thing lol. No one wanted to play Monopoly or Risk with me so I just played multiple characters to see who would win.

@maximusboscus I'm not going all Liam Anderson on you, though I sort of have the impulse. If she calls herself Emily, I can call her a girl (or, as an older white cis het male, a "young lady"). Her (of that's the correct pronoun) choice.
I'm not offended on her behalf, I'm just upset as a human being. Unless I'm trying to date a person I don't care their sex or gender or orientation. Though I really would say you should date the person, not their reproductive organs....

Sex and gender are different things (and unless you or me are trying to date her this is none of our concerni). As is grammatical gender, and use of the general masculinum form, which encompasses all sexes or genders (unless in western Norway, where thie "masculinum" is the utrum, that is used for anything non-neutrum, and we don't have a femininum form). I'm so glad for the Swedish construct of 'hen" (meaning I don't care, could be either or, not relevant).
I f' ing despise the apparent political correctness in other languages....

I agree! 80% of my gaming is solo - I do love playing with other people but other people are way less available to me than I am.
Plus I genuinely enjoy my solo games, I can play what I want when I want, I don’t need to think about other people when I buy new ones and I can take my time making decisions - what’s not to love? And it’s hard to find entertaining/funny reviews of solo games so Emily’s first vid was perfect for me 😊 I hope she does more!
For any other solo players out there who like jokes in their reviews The Grouchy Nerd is great - I especially enjoyed his review of the Black Sonata which makes me chuckle every time I pull the game out to play

The best part of For Northwood! totally not mentioned. They're plastic cards so you can riffle shuffle them without ruining them instantly, while still feeling all the appropriate shame (and joy there in) of doing so! Really a great decision by the maker since you're going to be shuffling a ton and it would be a nightmare if they weren't riffable.

I watched this with my SO, and we had to pause and rewind like a dozen times - we legitimately had to stop laughing so we could actually hear her. "I often get described the same way"... we just lost it.
She's so rapid-fire... by the time you stopped laughing at something, she's already said 3 more hilarious things.
