I worked at McDonald's on the opening shift with another boy. I can cook fast and he can work the window and cash registers taking the orders fast at the register and the bins were filled with food. My manager came in, a big strong boxing style black man who saw me flouring the biscuit cutter every four biscuits rather than two so that I could up my speed. Two black eyes and he knocked fillings out of my teeth. The police officer told me to talk to the owner who refused to see me and after a week they gave me a call apologizing and gave me a 5% an hour or 15 an hour raise to $4.05 an hour. I had to return because I had to pay bills and he continued to punch the stainless steel are handling equipment over the grills amongst other employees. And that's life.
