Because they flat out didn't show, or stay for recording sessions. Ace will always be a great guitarist, and when he's sober, he's unstoppable. Hence why he's put out 3 albums in the past 5 years, with great music on them & he continues to work with Gene and Paul to this day. Criss on the other hand, has always been a hack. He drumming is on par with a kid in 5th grade band, and has never put out a decent album.

To me, it's a depressing thought that the band I loved, from 1973-'74 to about 1981-'82, in all it's rawness & badass-ery, would become this sort of immortal cyborg-entity; like if someone put my favorite (perverted) uncle on life support, & began replacing all his body parts with synthetic limbs & organs, one by one. Sure they'd tell me he was the same guy, but he just wouldn't have the same personality & soul anymore; instead he'd be this HORROR, that I'd rather just see put to a peaceful rest, & fondly remembered.
For me Kiss just isn’t the same without Ace and Peter. I’m not saying that Tommy and Eric aren’t great musicians, but Ace and Peter each created unique characters that were part of what made Kiss so great back in the day and Tommy and Eric just will never be able to fill those roles in my opinion. I also find it amazing that Paul would say that he and Gene were concerned about Ace and Peter playing to their standards when they were inducted into the Hall of Fame. Ace has gone on to have a very successful solo career. My wife and I just saw him in concert a couple weeks ago and he’s just as great today as he ever has been (if not even better). Kiss is honestly nothing more than a cover band at this point.

There are many great bands that never were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame . It's either because they didn't know the right people or there wasn't enough public pressure put on the elite fat cats that control the whole thing . Individuals such as axyl rose wanted nothing to do with them . I don't think the members of KISS feel it all that important to them personally as they crossed that threshold years ago from the public's eye . Crossed it multiple times in fact , and I think those guys would agree that there's a butt load of talent that though deserving , have not been recognized nor will ever be . And that's a sad fact . You can't be full partners if you don't show up or contribute. It's just the way it is and Peter was getting tired of it along with the producers and managers. I'll even venture to say Bruce Kulick brought something they desperately needed that metal sounding guitar that wasn't there till he appears. I sure enjoyed it but that's just me. That old saying you roll with the changes or get left behind really is true.
I'm not holding anything against them. It's just that musicians get the big head when you got people telling you how great thy are and they believe it. All the time they got thier other hand in your pockets. The music industry is full of them. All you have to do is watch behind the music and its like a freak show! Kubrick played for Marvin Aday, Grand Funk Railroad and KISS that alone would be good enough for my resume. Hell the first time I seen meat loaf was on Saturday Night Live and I was at the record store the next day waiting for them to open, just so I could snatch up bat out hell. Only two other performers have done that to me. Ronan Hardiman and Nightwish. I was like what the hell this stuff is great! Knowing damn well the ego fairy was just lurking waiting to ruin it. Trust me music is a powerful medium. It can move people at the emotional level where your hair stands up on its ends. So shave while you got it. It doesn't last forever till the next song comes around. Which I'm not holding my breath these days. To many just give me four or five faces out of the sea of thousands waiting their turn at the famous fountain. The label company and PR department will do the rest. It's really weird. They play it safe and just give me the same shit over and over. Buggles might have been a one hit wonder but they got one thing right, Video killed the Radio star. In this case the rock star. It's one reason the newer generation has to go back 30-40 years to listen to the music. I might add KISS got it right. I got more then a ticket to hear them. I got to be see a show!
Old has a lot of advantages. It means you lived long enough to learn something text books can't give it like experience. Being a skinny little 15 year old in 1974 with his first 35mm camera and learning to use it. I figured why not get my older sister and friend to sneak me into clubs so I could take pictures of bands and hear the music. I meet Joan Jet, John Nitzinger, The Run Aways and many others when they were just trying to pay for gas and food to the next club. Then trying to sneak in back stage to get pictures of Aerosmith, Jethro Tull and one I'll never forget was Nazareth when they were openers and never heard of them. They played Hair of the Dog and I was floored. The old saying you don't pick the music but it picks you sunk in that night. Hell I think it was at the Aerosmith get your wings tour. I probably should have got my ass kicked getting in people's way to get the pictures but I would talk to the biggest guy next to me and hope they thought I was with him. It was like something out of the Movie Almost Famous. Might be why I connected with that movie in so many ways. My friends thought I was crazy asking why I did it. I simple told them because it's fun and made me feel good. Might be why I didn't really do drugs and alcohol. I got an endorphin rush off that alone that rivaled skydiving and motor cycle racing later in life. I got the X-rays to prove it. That's what music can do for you. It gets you to do things you couldn't normally find the courage or stupidity to do. I wouldn't trade it for anything. You can always make money but you can't buy back time lost, saying man I wish I would have tried that that when I was younger. It's strange but I can hear a song and it triggers all the emotions, smell, joy and pain over those 40 years. Great Stuff
It's untrue that Gene is the "business guy". Paul is actually a far better business man than Gene, saving the KISS furniture more than once despite Gene.

I don’t fault Eric Singer for being where he is because in actual actuality he replaced someone that died, Eric Carr. Eric Carr is the one who replaced Peter Crisis and I liked Carr better than Crisis. Carr was better than Crisis in every way and when when Carr died well there was no way they were going to ask Crisis back, so….they went with a new drummer Eric Singer. But the Tommy Thayer Ace Frayley thing, well that’s a total mess and a shame in a way. When you’re young and a lot a money comes your way. Some people don’t quit know how to cope with that and it scares them. So….they look for ways to either numb themselves or for a way to escape from it. Some find a positive way and some find a very negative way. Unfortunately both Ace and Peter went the negative way but we’re talking about Ace and when Ace would get drunk or high he would do some really really dumb sh!t as most people do when they’re like that. But Ace would take it to another level. I don’t know if it’s true or not but, in Gene book he said that once while they were on tour Ace was dressed in Nazi apparel and going to room to room doing the hëil Hitler and doing the Hitler salute at the same time. If that sh!t is true. It isn’t cool at all. I don’t care how drunk or high you are. Especially since Gene’s mother is a holocaust survivor. And apparently Ace is a collector of Nazi paraphernalia also. I mean if that’s your thing and it’s not against the law, hey more power to you. But if Ace didn’t do any of those things Gene shouldn’t be saying those things especially in a book. I understand Gene and Paul gave Ace several chances to get it together and he didn’t but there were things that they were doing to Ace and Peter that wasn’t right either. Gene and Paul were screw-over Ace and Peter when they got back together for the second coming when they put the makeup back on in the late 90’s but, couldn’t they put their differences aside for one night and a couple songs. They always say they do it for the fans. Well this what the fans wanted but they let us down on this one. All it would’ve taken is a couple of weeks of practice a few rehearsals and one damn show and a lifetime memory for the fans. That’s it. But egos I guess.

If KISS had ended it with Creatures of the Night, it would have been okay. Of course this means they should never have done KISS Meets the Phantom. From 1983 to the present, there may have been some good new songs, but nothing like the first makeup era.

There are many great bands that never were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame . It's either because they didn't know the right people or there wasn't enough public pressure put on the elite fat cats that control the whole thing . Individuals such as axyl rose wanted nothing to do with them . I don't think the members of KISS feel it all that important to them personally as they crossed that threshold years ago from the public's eye . Crossed it multiple times in fact , and I think those guys would agree that there's a butt load of talent that though deserving , have not been recognized nor will ever be . And that's a sad fact . One thing I always genuinely respected about the Ramones, was how they/Johnny knew when it was time to end it, and they did so. To pay the hundreds of dollars to see a couple of 60 (or is it 70?) year old men in spandex, leather, make up while wearing Depends.....And theKiss football team, is just absurd. Was that a Kiss Mustang edition? At some point it's time to walk away with some dignity.

I'll even venture to say Bruce Kulick brought something they desperately needed that metal sounding guitar that wasn't there till he appears. I sure enjoyed it but that's just me.

Kubrick played for Marvin Aday, Grand Funk Railroad and KISS that alone would be good enough for my resume. Hell the first time I seen meat loaf was on Saturday Night Live and I was at the record store the next day waiting for them to open, just so I could snatch up bat out hell. Only two other performers have done that to me. Ronan Hardiman and Nightwish. I was like what the hell this stuff is great! Knowing damn well the ego fairy was just lurking waiting to ruin it.
Trust me music is a powerful medium. It can move people at the emotional level where your hair stands up on its ends. So shave while you got it. It doesn't last forever till the next song comes around. Which I'm not holding my breath these days. To many just give me four or five faces out of the sea of thousands waiting their turn at the famous fountain. The label company and PR department will do the rest. It's really weird. They play it safe and just give me the same shit over and over.
Buggles might have been a one hit wonder but they got one thing right, Video killed the Radio star. In this case the rock star. It's one reason the newer generation has to go back 30-40 years to listen to the music.
I might add KISS got it right. I got more then a ticket to hear them. I got to be see a show!
Old has a lot of advantages. It means you lived long enough to learn something text books can't give it like experience.
Being a skinny little 15 year old in 1974 with his first 35mm camera and learning to use it. I figured why not get my older sister and friend to sneak me into clubs so I could take pictures of bands and hear the music. I meet Joan Jet, John Nitzinger, The Run Aways and many others when they were just trying to pay for gas and food to the next club. Then trying to sneak in back stage to get pictures of Aerosmith, Jethro Tull and one I'll never forget was Nazareth when they were openers and never heard of them. They played Hair of the Dog and I was floored. The old saying you don't pick the music but it picks you sunk in that night. Hell I think it was at the Aerosmith get your wings tour. I probably should have got my ass kicked getting in people's way to get the pictures but I would talk to the biggest guy next to me and hope they thought I was with him. It was like something out of the Movie Almost Famous. Might be why I connected with that movie in so many ways.
My friends thought I was crazy asking why I did it. I simple told them because it's fun and made me feel good. Might be why I didn't really do drugs and alcohol. I got an endorphin rush off that alone that rivaled skydiving and motor cycle racing later in life. I got the X-rays to prove it.
That's what music can do for you. It gets you to do things you couldn't normally find the courage or stupidity to do. I wouldn't trade it for anything. You can always make money but you can't buy back time lost, saying man I wish I would have tried that that when I was younger. It's strange but I can hear a song and it triggers all the emotions, smell, joy and pain over those 40 years.

I don’t fault Eric Singer for being where he is because in actual actuality he replaced someone that died, Eric Carr. Eric Carr is the one who replaced Peter Crisis and I liked Carr better than Crisis. Carr was better than Crisis in every way and when when Carr died well there was no way they were going to ask Crisis back, so….they went with a new drummer Eric Singer. But the Tommy Thayer Ace Frayley thing, well that’s a total mess and a shame in a way. When you’re young and a lot a money comes your way. Some people don’t quit know how to cope with that and it scares them. So….they look for ways to either numb themselves or for a way to escape from it. Some find a positive way and some find a very negative way. Unfortunately both Ace and Peter went the negative way but we’re talking about Ace and when Ace would get drunk or high he would do some really really dumb sh!t as most people do when they’re like that. But Ace would take it to another level. I don’t know if it’s true or not but, in Gene book he said that once while they were on tour Ace was dressed in Nazi apparel and going to room to room doing the hëil Hitler and doing the Hitler salute at the same time. If that sh!t is true. It isn’t cool at all. I don’t care how drunk or high you are. Especially since Gene’s mother is a holocaust survivor. And apparently Ace is a collector of Nazi paraphernalia also. I mean if that’s your thing and it’s not against the law, hey more power to you. But if Ace didn’t do any of those things Gene shouldn’t be saying those things especially in a book. I understand Gene and Paul gave Ace several chances to get it together and he didn’t but there were things that they were doing to Ace and Peter that wasn’t right either. Gene and Paul were screw-over Ace and Peter when they got back together for the second coming when they put the makeup back on in the late 90’s but, couldn’t they put their differences aside for one night and a couple songs. They always say they do it for the fans. Well this what the fans wanted but they let us down on this one. All it would’ve taken is a couple of weeks of practice a few rehearsals and one damn show and a lifetime memory for the fans. That’s it. But egos I guess.

The current team has not missed a show, and has turned a solid profit for DECADES was well as put money in the pockets of the original team while they sit a t home. The current team has kept the Kiss machine running for way, way longer than the original team would have ever lasted. I`m a fan of the original four.....but If you have ever been in business or even sports it would be obvious to yo which is the winning team. Showing up and being dependable goes a long way
