Being a old Marine that was issued the ALICE backpack we could of used these . these kids now have all the cool stuff. LoL. These are absolutely fantastic for strap containment & the ability to hold something you need on a strap such as a flashlight & ect..

I was broken in on an Alice pack. I recall tearing little strips of 100 mph tape to manage all the straps.

Thanks for the video. I was on the fence of whether to order these off Amazon, and was unsure of the quality. For $13, it's probably worth taking the plunge either way, but this gives me a little more confidence in them.
One small point of order. It's called "shock cord" not "shot cord". Because it's stretchy and absorbs 'shocks' without loosening and losing retention.

the Assortment is invaluable for attaching all kinds of items to your pack, Kudos on you explanation of each item. the Strap dominator is also very useful for para cord retention and can be used for quick flip out retention on items that are needed to retrieve in a hurry.

I have a bunch of sets of these. They're upwards of $18 now. I use them a lot and find them to be quite handy and have far more uses than you showed here and they are applicable to many other systems. They aren't a magic solution to every problem but are very useful. I use the clips to clip smaller molle bags to my pack mostly, the web dominators are a better solution to loose straps than the elastic bands that always stretch out and dry rot. They are adequate for holding gear to your pack or other bags, if you trim the cords down to where they can't work loose and mostly good only for lightwieght objects, heaver things eventually work loose and fall out, I lost an Olight Warrior Pro and a Gerber Strongarm because of this but that was my own fault for not making sure they were secure enough. A good addition to your gear for sure

Had to comment. Was very sceptical at first but I bought these about 3 years ago. I thought I would never use them, and 3 sets of purchases in, I'm usung them all, prob grab another set soon. They're so versatile. Not very heavy duty, but does the trick for 90% of what I need. Maxpedition tacties are great for pouch and heavy duty use, but just as flexible attachment doohickies, these are awesome

You can usually wrap the shock cord twice around the dominator and still get it to lock into place, or wrap around the dominator also works. Or just cut it to length if you want more fixed solution.

Instead of using the web dominator for excess strap management cut an inch and a half length of bicycle innertube and either roll the strap up and put the "ranger band" around the whole lot or put the end of the strap inside the band and wrap it up around one side of the band using the unwrapped side to hold it in place.
Easier to do than to explain, there must be a YT video that shows it.

I would not recommend US SOCOM use these, but I think they will hold up just fine for hiking and light camping. The “grey” area might be the middle more intensive civilian uses like trekking or EMS. For those I would say use them with caution, and don’t rely on them to hold any mission critical items.
I use them for things like attaching my rifle cleaning kit to my range bag and clipping my ball cap to my backpack to go through airport security. They are more than robust enough for those level of purposes (though TSA broke the actual pack one of these was connected to once)

The kit you bought is all chinese no name. The original makers of those were likely USA manufacturers for the military or at least a western manufacturer for the military. ITW didn't make the ones you own, The ones you own are copies of ITW products. I'm not trying to dis you for buying chinese gear. Your choices are your own. I myself have a lot of chinese gear. btw, you can likely find this kit a lot cheaper on Aliexpress.

To the best of my knowledge, the U.S. military has never purchased or utilized these. I might be wrong, but if they ever were used by uncle same it was not widespread. I’m also not claiming that you can’t get more expensive or cheaper versions, but this are the ones that were ALL OVER Amazon at the time that I made the video, and my friends were always asking each other if anyone had ever tried those or had any idea what they were about. We searched CZcams and didn’t find anything, so I ponied up and bought a pack, and just to fill in the knowledge gap, I videoed my thoughts.

    • @randyyeager

@@gentlemangreyman it may not have been originally made for the US military. Maybe by some other US manufacturer for civilian use or for some other military around the world. But the Grimlocks (D-shaped push button carabiners) are US military in origin. Even the Molle attachment clips to attach a pouch to PALS webbing are military in origin, manufactured by MFH. Like I said, I don't care where you buy your gear or where it comes from. Just giving you some info on it.
