    Thank you for the laughs today. This is a nice alternative way of displaying a completed piece without the expense of wood framing. I just completed my first diamond art. It's a partial that used the round diamonds. I've ordered 2 more projects from Amazon and am waiting for them to arrive. I like animals, dragons, scenery and there's one out at diymoonshop that has the Starship Enterprise D floating in Starry, Starry Night. I just need to save up for that one! lol

    I tried to convince myself that I would just not like doing these. Too tedious, small drills....yada yada. So yeah, started one yesterday and it's almost done! Have the light board coming from Amazon tomorrow, and two more paintings ordered. Ugh! LOL Another addicting hobby. Thanks for showing how to finish and frame them. Should have ordered an ice pack for my neck lol

    the purpose of spraying is to seal the sticky part of the canvas left when using rounds. if you don't put it under glass. otherwise, dust and fur will collect on the sticy canvas.

    If using round drills, in particular, sealing the picture (only necessarily if not covered by glass or plexiglass), allows the sealant to go between the drills which connects them together keeping them from falling off. Thecsealant settling between the round drills, keeps dust from setting there as well.

    G'day from Tasmania Australia. I love Diamond painting and have been doing it for a couple of years now. I'm into round drills, the squares frustrate me. I enjoyed watching this framing video. I've often wondered whether the poster frames would work. I, like you have never felt the need to seal my paintings, maybe one day. I have a very open taste in paintings, from animals, ships, vampires, figures.... if I like how it looks I do it. Thanks for an entertaining video. VERY cool.

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  Před 4 lety

      Hi there Angela!! Diamond painting is so much fun and is very relaxing too!! I like rounds the best too - I will occasionally do squares. Poster frames work great!! If the back starts to slide off, just put some tape on the edges of the frame in the back. Thank you for your kind words - you have put a smile on my face!! 😊💖🥰

  • @MorriganSteel
    @MorriganSteel Před 4 lety

    It also helps keep the painting cleaner, imh, and does help keep. the drills more secure. When pressing my drills I put a cloth or paper over them to prevent any scratching. Just what I have found.

    The purpose of applying a sealant is two fold. One, it gets down into the crevices between the diamonds and hardens. The layer on top hardens into almost a plastic like protective surface which also helps with scratching. It also prevents dirt and dust from getting down in between the diamonds. Eventually, the adhesive on the canvas will become brittle. That is just the nature of the beast. This sealant keeps the diamonds from falling off once the adhesive gets more brittle. If you don't want to go the extra mile to protect your painting that is up to you. However, with all the time and effort I put into mine, I'm damn well going to protect it.

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  Před 5 lety

      I actually prefer to frame my DPs under glass, as I hate to lose the shine, because, as you said, I spent a lot of time on it. Mod podge isn't a ashe vice. It's a gloss to fill the holes as there are gaps between. This stops the diamonds from coming off.

    A hint about using double sided tape from someone who worked with several different types for many years...if you fold the end of the tape over onto itself you can easily pull the backing off of the tape. Then you cut the tape itself instead of both the tape and backing together. Then just leave a small length of the backing without tape on it on the roll. The next time you use the roll you will have an easier time peeling the backing off. Hope this made sense.lol

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  Před 6 lety

      @melissaboone1229 Před 6 lety

      gbmaltese we had a bunch of different kinds so it just depended on what I needed to do at the time. Having said that, there was one the was actually more like glue than tape that I used more than the others. It was made by 3M but it’s almost $12 a roll!

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  Před 6 lety

      Wow!! That's expensive, but if it works really well, it might be worth it. I actually bought a sheet of 3M double sided tape, but haven't used it yet - I think I paid $8.95. I'm waiting for something that might be a bit heavier to use it on.

    I have no idea why I'm watching this. My ma saw one of these and after she saw a Peanuts one (been obsessed since a little girl) asked me to do it for her. I said anything for you mom and paid for it and started thinking about how the heck I would do this. Never had touched these before and um had no idea how tedious (although relaxing) it was lmao. Ended up falling in love with the process and decided on not telling her when I finished or even if I was working on it, almost wanted her to forget about it so I could REALLY surprise her. Well it's done, I brought it to my local Michael's and had them make a custom frame for it. I can't wait to see it! The awesome worker gave me a pickup date of Nov. 15 which is her bday! Couldn't be more perfect
    Fingers crossed she loves it!!! I was so excited that I spent 125 on the custom frame lmao which is why I'm not sure why I'm watching this now, I really like this tutorial and wish I wasn't so excited and hasty. Although I know she will LOVE it, she also would have loved it more if I made the frame myself lol. In the future, I will come back here when I make another one 🤭💜

    What a great idea using the poster board it really makes the canvas pop. I have done one square it was a Slytherin house emblem for my daughter which I framed. It was a disaster from the start I could never get the wrinkles out and the drills never fit right. I have one I’m working on now which is round but hopefully maybe once I find work I’ll try another square. Maybe a Doctor Who inspired one. I blame Jenny for adding this craft to my obsession 😉

    • @gbmaltese
      @gbmaltese  Před 6 lety +1

      I can't blame Jenny on this one, as I started before I saw her working on one, but it is so much fun!!! That's awful about the canvas!! Some people turn the canvas face down, put a towel over the back of the canvas, and putting an iron at a very low setting (like wool setting) and ironing it gently, are very successful at getting the wrinkles out. Others contact the seller and complain, and usually will either get a refund or a new canvas. It is so much fun to find new hobbies though isn't it? Keeps us from being bored, and keeps the mind active!! I love the socks you are working on - I've seen the pictures on Instagram - you are so talented!! Mine are all 16x20 inches and larger. I prefer full drill square paintings. I just don't like the gaps with the round drills. I'm finishing up a large round drill painting from DAC, and I love the picture but I'm so disappointed that it's round drills. I really don't like them. This is, however, only my 3rd diamond painting the first two being square drills. Maybe I'll feel differently once it's framed and I'm viewing it on the wall.

      I like doing both - gives me a break from doing the same thing. I'm getting ready to frame a DAC round one that I just finished - I will be recording the framing of it very soon. It is so beautiful - lots of glitter and shine. The largest one I have framed was a 36"x 24" custom for my daughter - it was a square and was gorgeous. Here is a video showing the finished framing of it: czcams.com/video/3Gq6t_Prab8/video.html
      Take care!! 💕

    Your so right if it's in a frame you don't need any thing on it

      Exactly!!! The ones I have framed over a year ago, look exactly the same today 😊💕

    I have just started with diamond paintings, I have done one😅 I would like to do another one with a lion, but I can’t find one that seems really interested🤔 do you have some internet stores I can shop from?? It has to have international shipping, because I’m from Norway🥰 really good video + I would love for you to have a talk along when you do a diamond painting.... I love to draw and to take things and upgrade them, so they look nice (especially if the thing could be used as storage, I have a lot of things😂)
