I actually appreciate this device more years later since its hackable. I since loaded all my favorite ps titles and play randomly when i need a quick game. No other handheld is a sharp and powerful as the go. For size to power ratio it will be a device that is high looked for in the future due to its hacking capability. Its like my last attachment to the great consoles of last gen.
Yet it still lives on in 2024 as a beast of a retro console for psp and emulated games. Even hardware mods were released this year to fix all its downfalls, the power armour, and micro sd mod as well as the new Ark 4 CFW.
The PSP Go comes in handy if you want to download PSP games and PSone classics on to it. Sure beats filling up your shelves full of PS1 game discs and PSP UMDs, huh? The M2 memory stick for the PSP Go that I highly recommend is the 16 GB M2 memory stick. Or if you have a PS Vita and want to download and install PSP games and PSone classics on to your Vita, then there is no need to get a PSP Go.
if space is an issue get a PSP 3000. buy a micro SD to memory stick converter and buy 2 or 3 micro SD cards and you will never have to worry about space
@USHARDY It doesn't download through your computer. It downloads games through the Sony Store. So in other words. All you need is a wireless internet connection or if you go to somewhere that has a wireless hot spot. You can browser the store and download the titles you want to buy.
the cafe was just a way to avoid paying for internet. I said earlier that you could just buy a normal PSP and get the UMDs. To get the full experience from Live, or even just to play games, you need to pay the live fees. The 360 may accept those peripherals, but i was right about the hard drive and wifi adaptor now wasn't I? Also yes you're right i'm a student living at home because its cheaper than living on my own. I still try to conrtibute to my family though.
why dont people understand, this is not for existing psp owners, because they obviously do not need it. this is for a new market, and in some ways its experimental. digital downloads have taken everywhere, music mp3s, video movies, podcasts, etc...games will soon be there.. sony are trying to see how it will work with only digital...because some people prefer only digital... that is the reason why the normal psp will continue selling along side the psp go...

Nvm, the written review says the battery life is worse than the PSP-3000. This is a huge disappointment considering the lack of a UMD drive should mean better battery life due to less moving parts to drain energy.

@Bairindo yeah when you buy it you'll get codes wich you fill in on the playsttion network and then you can download the games on the hard disk of your psp. you can't put game discs in it, it just has a hard disk.
So, can you download and buy games on PC, store them there and transfer them onto you PSP whenever you want? -You dont need to buy the games from PS3, you can DL straight from a comp? -If so, can you play those games on the computer itself?

I agree. I own a launch PSP, but I never liked UMDs. They're slow and use up a lot of battery life. They never took off either. I remember SONY bragging how UMDs were the future and how they're perfect for games and movies. Eventually movie companies gave up their support and thus the decline of UMD movies in recent years. I think digital downloads are great for games/tv/movies and look how successfull it is on iPhone. Unless you have a lot of UMD games, upgrading shouldnt be a problem.
true they have the same games, but you can get the games for cheaper in the umd format on the older psp, than with the go, which in the long run the Go will cost more. when just as good a gaming experience can be acheived with older psp's
if u have a psp already theres no point buying. if u dont then u should. i prefer it like this cos when u hav umd u hav to carry all the games around and it takes up a lot of room in ur bag if ur goin on holiday. at first glance it sounds bad but it is sooo nice and portable and the graphics are crisper. if u want more portablility and a tiny bit better graphics go for it! u get used to the control layout aswell after a while and when u go backl t the original psp it feels weird.

It sold $250. so its called wait a year for it to drop to $200 and for a new hack to come out. The screen is smaller (though resolution the same -> illusion of clearer image), the wi-fi is exactly the same, no UMD's so only option is to buy from sony (and every PSP can download like PSPgo), no universal usb support on PSPgo.. I mean everything on the PSPgo is either the same or worse than the previous models. PSP 3000 can do everything PSPgo can and more. AND is cheaper. :PP
I already own a PSP 1004 and I'm going buy the PSPGo as soon as possible. And not only because of the hardware, but I get 4 free games. That's about €100. So hardware alone will cost me only €150. And that's worth my money!! :D
Hey if I where just wanting to get a psp to play the kingdom hearts games should i go with the go or the regular psp's..... or try and find out how to emulate the game onto my computer which is pretty easy just hard to find the actual emu files of the game

However, I understand the bitching if they bought it for $250 and it doesn't do the "media" thing well; AKA slow downloads. Also, they provide no way for the buyers to resell their games to others, as the UMD allows. Failed expectations brings bitching and it's understandable.
Same here, I'll eventually buy one. I've decided to wait to buy though as there is no hurry for me to buy one. Mainly because I bet that SONY will eveuntually come out with a cheaper model with more memory like they did with the PS3s. I can fill up 16gigs in a week with videos and music if I wanted to. Anyway only game I look forward to is kingdom hearts birth by sleep that comes out next year.

everyone hates the go because not all the psp games are on the PSN store like when Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep came out, it wasn't on the store so go owners that wanted that game had no chance of getting it.
pspGo is the best psp ever made , now since it can be hacked , you psp 1000 , psp 2000 and psp 3000 owners still carrying around memory sticks , probably 1gb and 4gb . The pspGO is powerful and right now if you hack it , you would wish sony kept making the system

@MHappyglobal Regardless of what anyone tells you, Sony has NOT released any information on pricing to the public. However, Gamestop has a $299 price in their computer. This is a price adjustment from the placeholder 999.99 that launched at the end of January, so it could be more of a ballpark or legit price. I'm unsure whether or not there will be two systems. I'm thinking one will be a cheaper unit with Wi-Fi ($250-270) and then a 3G model that could be $300-329. We may have to wait for E3.

that final fantasy 7 download would have taken 4 hours and then some time to install. they must have sped it up 8x to get that effect.

The games will still work, but you have to move them to the Go. It doesn't take a Memory Stick Duo, so you can't just plug it in and play.
what are you looking to find in a pspgo? if you want a dedicated handheld, it's definitely up there. especially if you hack it

Last Time i have the PSP3000 and i have downloaded a lot of games to my Memory Stick ......will the downloaded games still work on PSPgo?

Games are expected on the Zune HD but besides that we will have to wait and see.
I've never seen a PSP game over 1gb in space. The biggest one is GT PSP and it's 950 mb.
