    4 quick questions:
    1. what size/thickness paracord are you using?
    2. does size or thickness matter for this application?
    3. to minimize cord waste what would be a good/reasonable working length to start with?
    4. do you have to remove the core? wouldn't having the core in there add to the stiffness of the weave?
    thanks and great video.

      +jggibson65a After an evening of playing around with this I am going to answer my own questions for any who want to weigh in feel free.
      1. 550 seemed most practical
      2. both thin and thick worked well, but preferred the 550
      3. I found that 22" to 24" minimized cord waste
      4. core out is preferred. still nice firm protection and easier to work with.

    I have used this method in combination with the pen spring and it has made my cable extra strong! Also if you don't have a paracord, some nice shoelaces will do the trick. At the end, just cut the tip of the lace and seal with a flame. Cheers!

    Why must you pull out the insides of the Paracord? Also should I be tying it loose so not to squeeze the charging wires?

    Brandon mate the only way this could wreck your cable, is if you didnt take in to account the fact your weaving round a thin cable with a thin protective coating.
    If you did it the way you do a round another piece of paracord instead of a wire, you pulled way too tight and damaged the wire.
    The one doing the weaving is where the error lays nor the weave itself.
    We all make mistakes mate the key is to learn from it.
    Happy weaving :)

      So if you don't take the stuff out the paracord and pull tight it will mess you're wire up? cause I did mines with the parachute paracord and I didn't take the stuff out of it and I pulled right to secure it and my wrote was taking a little long to charge than usual

    • @lifesabuzzwhoopwhoop
      @lifesabuzzwhoopwhoop Před 9 lety +1

      Jasmine Wilturner the copper wire inside a charger cable is so fine, that they either snap or break loose from the connections to the head of the charger with repeated use.
      Thats why this idea works by using paracord you're spreading any force used on the cable when connecting or disconnecting the charger. Whether the paracord is gutted (strands removed) or not makes no difference, if the paracord is pulled too tightly its physically pulling the copper from the connections or possibly even breaking the wire itself.
      The paracord simply acts like a spongy protection which eleviates pressure on the wire when inserting or removing the charger.
      There is no need to pull it tight enough to damage the wire for th8s to work.

    • @softlk8810
      @softlk8810 Před 7 lety +1

      lifesabuzz-So bottom line is you don't have to take out the inside of the Paracord, just be careful not to tie it too tight?

    • @softlk8810
      @softlk8810 Před 7 lety +2

      In my experience so far, it looks like taking out the inner lining makes the Paracord more delicate as it lays on the cable. Also, it makes it sit flush. If the lining were in, the cable seems to curl.

    Thanks For the video!
    This looks really cool and I'd likely run it the entire length of the cable with smaller diameter cordage, however, you would be well advised to use a bit of epoxy and some electrical tape to stabilize the separation in the wire prior to using braiding as a strain relief.
    Unfortunately, the size of the paracord used here, will likely have an ill effect on the cable itself, as there will be a much greater chance of someone using the braid as a "handle" to disconnect the cable from the device or manipulate it in a way that will unnaturally flex the cable at it's already weakened point, finishing the job of rendering it useless.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm not nay-saying. I'm just pointing out the potential flaws in doing this. I'm very tempted to experiment with this; using a new cable and adhesive at the start point of the braid (over the connector portion of the cable) to stabilize it and create a good looking/functional strain relief. (Thank god for android and their non-proprietary connectivity) Wait.. am I still typing?

    I just did this but my parachord looks a lot different, I got it from an old paracord braclet I never wore and just unraveled that's. And it wouldn't melt to keep it from unweaving so I used krazy glue. My chargers always get destroyed. Thanks for the idea

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  Před 9 lety

      Gianna Buscone Hmmm, that's odd. Perhaps the paracord you have is not true 550 paracord? Most paracord will melt if you take a lighter to it. Well either way, I'm glad this video helped. :)

    I figured you were gonna actually have the paracord as sleeving. You can cut off the head of the connector, push the paracord and three pieces of heat shrink over the cable then solder the connector back on, push the heat shrink over the soldered wires and heat it up then use the other heat shrink tubes on both ends of the cable.
    It's creative though, just doesn't seem all that durable in comparison of actually sleeving the cable itself and it'd look pretty sleek.

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  Před 9 lety

      +EvilWiffles Sleeving the cables would be the best option for sure. I don't have the tools for doing that yet though. Maybe in the future.

      The Weavers of Eternity Paracord Tutorials I'd love to do it with my phones charging cable, so I might do a little guide sometime. There is only two small cables inside the rubber sleeving so it'd be very easy to sleeve with paracord. Not sure sure about Apple though.

      With the latest one i have now i don't do that anymore but it turns yellow fast, soon it will start fringing again but hopefully it lasts longer.

      The Weavers of Eternity Paracord Tutorials
      So, how can USA overcome this outflow / loss of jobs and loss of manufacturing revenue to China? It seems that USA has given up long ago to defeat China in this aspect?
      Its quite sad to see how USA has evolved for the worse. On the economy side, the China Strategy has worked miraculously and USA and the west clearly cannot compete with China in manufacturing.
      On the political front, ISIS is essentially succeeded in using the Western values like Freedom to practise religions and Freedom of expression and human rights to penetrate into the west and progressively increasing their muslim population in the west and taking over territories and eventually there is a risk of them wanting Sharia law there. Islamist terrorists have destroyed USA into incurring a debt of 1 trillion since 911. Now, ISIS seems unstoppable. Any attack on ISIS by the west will be to the advantage of ISIS.
      I feel very sad for the West. They have shown unable to defeat China and Religious Terrorism. The prowess in science is whats keeping them afloat.

    I love your videos, but do you REALLY have to call a suggestion a 'hack'? Not everything has to be trendy.

      unfortunately. Trendy just cheapens what would otherwise be good ideas in general, but ratings drive everything. Current video excluded, ;-D

      Yeah I know what you mean. There's really too much clickbait and over-sensationalized titles in stuff on YT these days. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
