- I Tried Canada's WORST Train! VIA RAIL is known as Canada's Worst and Best railway company because it is the only one in the entire country, so I travelled to Canada with the goal of seeing if this was true or if Via Rail has a bad reputation for no reason!
After flying Ryanair known as The World's Worst Airline and Spirit Airlines which is known as America's Worst Airline, and other airlines it will be interesting to see how Trains compare to flying and which one is better than the other.

Hey guys! I decided to try something new and I reviewed a Train this week! I hope you guys enjoyed! If you want to see more Train and Airline Videos let me know :)
FULL DISCLOSURE: VIA Rail is the ONLY Train service in Canada for passenger trains so it is technically the BEST and WORST at the same time! Just wanted to clarify the title a bit!
Alright
Did you know that via rail has a train service from Toronto to Vancouver which takes 4 days
Pls do Bus Reviews
what a legend
Should I try an overnight train / Economy on VIA Rail next time?
you should
my friend of course!!!
For sure!
Yes
ya
I’ve found trains to be generally more clean and comfortable than any other form of transportation. It’s nice to be able to just get there, get on, and let someone else do all the driving. And to explain delays that both Via and Amtrak experience, it’s not their fault. The freight companies that actually own the tracks always put passenger trains at the lowest possible priority so freight always comes first. It’s a rule that passengers should always come first but nobody enforces it so freight companies always put their own trains as the highest priority.
Yeah that is the one down side. If Via and Amtrak had there own tracks I'm sure there would be far less delays.
Wow dude your video is awesome. I am also a travel CZcamsr that I just started. But your video is so professionally presented. And the way you explain everything is flawless. I can learn a lot here. Please post more videos. I love trains. More than planes for travel actually. Especially the old vintage trains. I look forward to future videos you post friend.
Early gang! Love your videos can you try post more on the weekends instead of the weekdays cause more people have school and got alot of hw. ty.
Yup! I always post on Saturday or Sunday so people can enjoy the content
Just like the polar express but canadian
very true!
@@ericstrukI love your videos
@@ericstrukdo the best airline review
@@Goosebloxx Qatar airlines?

as a canadian, i know viarail, and it's weird how it's the only train company that travels you across the country, especially the land size of my country. There's another train company that travels through toronto that I've been to, it's called GO transit.
The reason for it being just one carrier for a transcontinental trip is because passenger trains in North America are government owned and subsidized. In the United States, we have a national carrier, Amtrak, which is government owned and subsidized. Via Rail was created by Canadian National, which at the time was a government railroad. To this day, Via Rail is still government ran.
Love your vids Eric! Like last time keep doing what you love doing.
I really enjoyed this video. Well done 👍
Also the reason why trains are better most of the time is cause trains could have unlimited carts to pull and planes are limited to like 200/300 seats which means the seats are more compact to be able to fit more people on the flight.
And yes, you should DEFINITELY do more train videos! They’re awesome!
Yea but planes can go way faster then trains so they can get more people. Also usally airlines have more planes then Via Rail or Amtrak has trains. For short distance trips like Toronto to Ottawa or Montreal, its worth taking the Via Rail to save time, but most of the time, taking a plane is just better and cheaper
@@andrewisvrycool planes are limited with their space.. trains aren’t since they can add more carts.
Coming from an canadian train enthusiast myself, trains cant haul unlimited cars due to gravity, there are gradients, and if too much cars are too tense for the locomotive going up the hill, it could damage the locomotive or get stuck up on that nasty gradient, also a lot of cars on a couple of locomotives on an descending gradient can make the locomotives brakes utterly useless, causing an runaway and derailing, it’s better to do math and your opponent your fighter on descending and ascending gradients with cars and locomotives before departing!
@@ThePrairiesRailfan obviously I know trains can’t pull unlimited carts but they can and will pull more carts which will allow for more storage aka seats for passengers and more space unlike planes have seats really close to eachother which makes it not as premium as a train
@@MadGamezYT planes go way faster and dont make stops along the way. Theres also bigger cargo planes like 747’s that can be used to transport bigger goods. Also, most airlines have many planes so they can do multiple routes at once
love your video....besides the planes...liked the food ones also.....
KEEP DOING SUCH INTERESTING VIDOES....THANKS
Wow love the video. I would love to see more videos on trains!
Wishing you safe travels dude! One day somthing might go wrong so be safe!
I was almost arrested filming my next airline vid that comes out in a few weeks. Definitely a learning experience
@@ericstruk oh wow! Shocker! Please be more careful for the sake of your viewers! We really care for you!

You should go on Amtrak. Amazing video as always. 😁
That was a very great video eric!!!!
I love the videos! Keep it up!
Love your videos YOU ARE GREAT!!!
Eric whenever you do these vids a smile comes in my face
I enjoy travelling on via rail. I am more of an aviation guy, but while I was in school near Kingston I travelled back to Kitchener every weekend using VIA rail. Transportation is awesome!
YAYY ITS A GOOD DAY WHEN ERIC UPLOADS!!!
I'm a train fanatic and I love via rail. I loved this video and I encourage you to do more of tem. If you want to learn more on the via rail trains, just let me know!
Im a train too
Nice video love your contents
thanks kenny! appreciate ya
Man very nice video but this that train is a pardise for my country(Greece) a masive crash happens days ago. Thanks
I love riding a train. It's litterly just so good, and it's not so stressfull on a train station. Plus you get a nice expiriance, and you get to be on your phone and computer. So trains are lovely. It's extra nice if you go out with the train to mountain, the nice view. I love trains!!!!
Eric can you try Qantas Airlines? For your next vid? I SUBBED❤❤❤
I reccomend "The Ocean" via rail line. Awesome videos! Have a good day!
The 20 hour trip
I really liked the video so I think you should do more train videos
You should try out some of the high speed rail lines in Europe. Many of them are actually faster than a plane ride (including the time in the airport)
Yeah although here in Canada our train service is terrible, slow and expensive
Canada will NEVER be advanced as Asia or Europe lol
Try reviewing a TLK class train in Poland before they are all gone, or an old MAV train in Hungary, preferably on a 35°C summer day...
Another benefit to rail travel, is being able to hop on and off the train in major metropolitan or downtown cores, whereas airports are always located on the outskirts of a city. Trains are more convenient for short travel if time is not an issue.
For me to get to Pearson, the easiest route is driving 100% of the way there. For me to get to Union, I can drive to the nearest go train.
You should do the worlds worst train and americas worst train. I love ur videos
I live down in Mississippi and, although I have never ridden this rail line, Amtrak apparently has the best service in the US. I love trains and the most common locomotive in their fleet is the P42 Genesis. There is also the Acela in New Jersey I think. *Don’t quote me on that.* You should go on it and try the Jackson to New Orleans train before you could go further with the longest train ride, that being the NYC to Miami route. It is a transfer ride.
6:19 the train attendant right now is the same one I had when I went to Ottawa
Could you do more with travelling on trains in Canada USA and Mexico?
YES! I would love to! Even in Europe and other places as well
@@ericstruk Yes Europe trains are amazing like Austria and Croatia for me
@@ericstruk In Finland, our transportation is very well developed and taken care of. Although, to get into in Finland from Canada you would have fly to New York (or any american airport) then fly on Finnair which is an amazing airline. When you get to Finland, you can take a VR train
Mexican train companies are TERRIBLE
Here is a fact about VIA 6459. It is a F40PH locomotive originally built in the 1970s. By the way, awesome video I subscribed.
Love the content
this youtuber makes my day :)
today I've used again the public transport here in Europe.
but after watching the video I started to hate the day and the country where I live in (Switzerland)
because we can only dream of this kind of service and prices which you have here in Canada and envy you.
THX man for the video and keep up!
But sadly in Canada the airfares for planes are SUPER high. like SUPER SUPER high.
Remember your fare comparison was business on a train vs economy on a plane. Business on a plane would be 3x what you paid for a larger seat, drinks and a light appetizer plate. Yes, flying from YTZ would get you the drink in the all-economy cabin of Porter or AC. I tend to fly to Montreal or Ottawa so I have at least a half day in those cities vs pretty much losing the day (I hate any flights or trains before noon!) but almost always take VIA business back in the evening, enjoying drinks and a dinner while relaxing for a few hours. I’m a 20-minute walk from Union, so getting to VIA, the UPX or YTZ shuttle is the same.
I'm from sweden and I love ur videos can you try sweden best air line and worst air line
You should fly porter! It’s base is in Toronto, would be easy to go on.
Merci pour le revue. Je me suis abonné
Definitely do more train videos
2:15 don't forget streetcar terminal as well!
You should make a vid about flying the best airline in the world, it would be really entertaining and I would love to watch it 😃
You should try the new VIA Siemens charger train
I will also say I have been on Amtrak. I enjoyed both because I did not have to drive where I was going and just got to relax and feel rested when I got to where I was going. For VIA it was Toronto. For Amtrak it was Chicago.
Try Amtrak great video 📸❣️
What's the name of that dramatic background music you were using it sounds so good
Cool and unique video
thank you cole i appreciate it!
You must do the Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver!
Since you flew to Vatican City can you fly to the second smallest country which is Monaco. It’s in Europe
I'd love to visit Monaco, its on my list for sure
Via rail mainly operates the F40-PH on trains like the Canadian. The F40-PH is a cowl body locomotive built in 1975-1992 by EMD. Your train was also pulled by an F40-PH.
come over to the uk and do a long haul train over here - you might enjoy the experience
Can you test something in finland? I am from finland so it would be fun to see.
Where did you get your shirt? That shirt looks so cozy
Amazing vid
I love your videos their so just cool
Have you tried the Transillien suburb train?(Paris St Lazare towards Mantes-La-Jolie)
Go on the Ghan train in Australia it is REALLY GOOOOOOOOOOD🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊
This isn’t a big snow storm compared to Quebec lol in 2017 we got 80cm off snow and that’s what I call a big snow storm
Please try Czech trains, its easy to buy ticket on train station and they are luxury and cheap
I would expect it to be faster than a car though, I was laughing my head off when I found out it took almost 10 hours to get from Vancouver to Kamloops
Just wondering if you would ever do a video going to a Toronto Blue Jays game.
You are my favorite CZcamsr
The stainless steel equipment was built by Budd who built a lot of passenger rail equipment across the US and Canada. Some of that equipment was from Canadian Pacific and some of it is ex Amtrak equipment that Via bought when Amtrak started retiring it’s Heritage Fleet in the 1990s. Via calls what we called the Heritage Fleet HEP 1 and 2. Which stands for Head End Power. Prior to HEP, trains were steam heated and ran off a generator connected to an axel. The first train in North America to get head end power was the North Coast Limited (Chicago to Seattle/Portland). No offense, but Via has a messy variety of equipment that we don’t really have in the US anymore and Amtrak is more or less replacing all of its equipment. Which is sad for me as a train fan and someone who grew up riding Amtrak on trip with my grandparents.
Great vid
You should try Amtrak
Please do more flight reviews
I think others are just picky about how their experience is and they always look on the bad side of things and want an experience that they expect and want but don’t compare to other places experiences and how this one is better and that’s why it got such low ratings but you actually look on the bright side and see how your experience this time is better than another experience and you actually are grateful for the things you get more than most people which I really like about you and appreciate that you think like that!
North American railways aren't the best when it comes to intercity travel. The infrastructure of the rails aren't coped for the speeds of passenger trains, and also because freight trains dominate Canada and America.
@@WCE107 yes, Canada and the US both have decent low cost airlines so flying is just much more efficient
1:30 My anxiety always skyrockets when that happens.
I rode VIA rail 4 times to and from Toronto (departing from Ottawa), and once I flew business and I thought it was a scam. The portions of food were TINY.
Damm bro y’all have a better Union Station than us here in Dallas 😭
Lucky you last week a train of VIA rail Went on explosion
Do more train videos please 🙏🏻
You should try Metra and Amtrak
You should do travel bus reviews in Ontario
Pls do a 24 hour via rail explore
Try Toronto to Vancouver Via Rail Experience and let us know
You should do more plane reviewess
And it's gonna be even better, VIA are getting brand new trains to replace the dated LRC cars and F40PH locomotives.
You should try maybe economic seats because you were on business so it must be better
definitely do more train videos.
Come to Indian Railways
This video is so cool
In Finland I love finnish train company VR, that is just 10/5
In America we have a passenger train service and it’s called Amtrak
Bro I got an AMMI ad and he said reason when the video played again
I oh wow, this is super good.
6:43 *Train whistle blowing*
Eric: It’s a good time to tell you the experience I have had.
Me: DUDE YOU DON’T NOTICE THE HORN
Wait what horn?
It’s a chime horn,@@Pineapplelover432 , you can’t miss the horn!
Yeah Via has been experiencing lots of train delays due to freight traffic. It’s a major problem. They need to do upgrades at stations and add extra tracks dedicated to passenger trains only and leave shared tracks to freights only. A lot of people don’t wanna use a train system when it’s almost always late. If this keeps up, everyone could then find alternative ways to travel
Honestly, Id much rather fly a cheap airline like flair or swoop over take the train. Just cheaper and more efficient and theres more options if its delayed or cancelled
I like your channel and I named my character on roblox after you😊
4:22 the engines that you'll have pulling your train will be the p42 or f40, the f40 are a little older but still good, the cars on the corridor are the Budd cars and the lrc cars, you were in the lrc but the Budd cars are extremely old since they were built in the 40s, they are shaky but they were refurbished
Soon the new trains!
i like via rail i don't really care about the delays because you get to spend more time on the train.
the first time i went one via it took me around 12 hours to go to The Pas MB from Thompson MB there was lots of leg room i could buy some food and snacks and i even got a tour of the sleeper car witch was cool
1:38 Yeah! I sure do have that.
Pls do more Train videos try Amarcas best
as a railfanner, i approve of your video!
Airline idea do spirits first class compared to the worst airline I Canada so like a airline war
I finally found you riding a train!
If you Can do Swedens worst train i would be SUPER happy🎉
