Still waiting for launch box to work nicely on a steam deck
I use Bigbox as my frontend on the Ayaneo Air Pro for both Retro and PC games. My main issue is that Bigbox crashes when I press the Ayaneo hotkey Buttons, especially the Ayaneo button to bring up the mini menu for TDP control if I want to increase/decrease the TDP.
This seems great for any Windows computer that's only used for gaming.
nice vid, i'd also recommend playnite. pretty nice, minimalistic default design (with the ability to use custom designs), emulator support, random game picker and much more.
I use big box on my gaming pc, love it. I have 2 accounts, one with a custom shell and the logout big box plugin and another for regular use. I will say currently half the themes are broken.
I like Launchbox, I bought a lifetime licence, but I've been using Playnite for a while now and I like it a bit better for PC games.
Can you do a video turning a windows handheld to give an experience like chimeraOS or steamOS with something lime Playnite to have the full windows gaming catalog?
I love the 3D boxes... I just think that they will grow old very soon. Or better said, the UI is not very friendly with endless lists of games. They need some manual and automatic filters to create categories etc... this basically looks like the alpha of the first Netflix version :D
I know this is 11 months old but Launchbox has ability to filter by genre, specific controller support, completion stats, etc... You can filter down on anything and create categories for whatever you want. Much more robust than something like Steam library which most PC gamers use as their launcher.
And Netflix UI is still trash. It has a highly tuned design that succeeds in limiting what you can see to about 3% of the overall library. At least they still let you access a search option.
At least the 3D boxes layout is just one out of dozens you can choose from in the fly. Wish we had other UI options available elsewhere we could switch between.

While I do support Launchbox and have even bought the license a few times now, I have to admit that there really aren't a lot of themes available. I also find that the themes that do exist on the launcher are often broken and require more than a few tweaks to get them to work properly. I also noticed that it really struggles to find images and boxart for roms if you don't label them perfectly. That being said, I will always support this community, but I think it still has a long way to go before I use it on a regular basis.
it doesnt help the fact that majority of settings are behind paywall. id support them but i find stuff like these predatory and principally stay away from it
You're better off just finding a free one and customizing it, I'm not sure how launchbox is even allowed to be sold because it uses copyrighted imagery when you do scrapes.
@@cybersosis I do agree that it should be a free and open source launcher available to the public. I'm willing to bet that if they made the software free and simply added a donate button to the top right hand corner, they would get far more people using the program and bring in the same amount of money.

Launchbox is definitely great. I was wondering if you have ever tried Playnite? Its a great ,pzc and emulator front end as well but I dont see many people talking about it. Id love to know your thoughts on it.

For me Daijisho is still the best frontend I've seen.
Not sure how I feel about windows on a handheld. I think Steam Deck's approach might be more resource efficient
For sure more resource efficient. The appeal for me is having my usual windows experience when docked. Looking forward to a true do-it-all handheld :D

Can you do the Asus Rog Ally? Ive enabled the game controller in the settings. But when I play Zelda Majoras Mask on N64, the A button only works twice, and nothing else. I cant name a save file or move to change letters. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Having issues with sleep mode and big box on ROG Ally. Otherwise this is the way.
Could you use PSRemote play on chitaki or a Andriod emulator or something so you can play Xbox and Playstation
