We're already one third of the way through Scarlet and Violet era of Pokemon, and Special Illustration Rare Cards are here to say. Dare I say, the SIR cards are the new Alt Art cards? But are they as good? We'll take a look at every single special illustration rare card that has come out so far. There are some really cheap ones and some really expensive ones. Lots of them are actually holding their values well! Then, we will make some comparisons to Pokemon's Sword and Shield Era and rip open some packs of Paradox Rift!

It’s crazy seeing some SIRs so cheap in certain sets, especially cards that were being so hyped up at the time. But as a collector I’m not complaining. I’m still waiting to see how the 151 SIRs do before I buy any. I haven’t gotten any of the SIR starters but if prices drop I’ll be adding them to my collection
Didn't expect that much of a price from the 2nd most expensive card to the most expensive in Obsidian flame

I enjoyed this summary video because it allowed you to get an idea of all the SV sets and if there are cards you want to chase.

Interesting research! thanks for sharing! I'm starting to drag my feet on completing sets as the on-going costs seem to go down for 6-9 months post release. I WILL finish paradox rift, but probably next summer ;-)
Yea that seems wise financially, even though it loses some of the “chase” element of completing a set to me.
The pidgeot line for that cheap is a steal
Finally got my 151 etb and pulled the Giovanni SIR and Dragonair IR. Folks weren’t kidding the art on these cards is spectacular
I love most of the art works and I think your spot on as per it all comes down to the pull rate, chilling reign and evolving skies have lots of cards worth collecting but pretty tough pull rates. I think that’s the way they should go moving forward! Keeps the individual card value and if it’s hard to complete the set I think again the sets will hold value! Awesome work Colin as per!

151 prices are still going strong, even reverse holos are a couple bucks, like the elusive reverse holo metapod and scyther. Supply is dwindling as people are rushing to complete the master set before Christmas, but I'm having fun completing the set with local trades and online purchases.
I love IRs and SIRs just because of the artworks. It's crazy how you can get some for so very cheap. I am thinking about picking up the cheap ones, not for an increase in value, but for a binder.
Probably won't happen, but imagine if at some point they released an (S)IR for every Pokémon and you have them all! What a cool collection it would be.

I personally think that if you don’t have the tag team cards, you’ve already missed the boat on that.
But to be honest, I wasn’t interested in Pokemon during Sun and moon era, so I’m not the most knowledgeable about it
I am new to the pokemon cards and the paradox rift set is what got me interested. Lots of cool full illustration cards.

Impressive how the original 151s staying power compares to obsidian. 6 vs 7 SIR, but a huge win in average value
I agree with you, I didn’t think Paradox Rift would be as good as it is. Also, I’m very excited for the Palafin card! I love that shiny!
151 brought some incredible art. I really like Paldea Evolved and I feel like Paradox Rift is also really good. The harder hit rates might make the prices stay a little higher too.
Its always great when a crash happens, it gives the collector a chance to start collecting some cards and also introduce more new collectors into the hobby
151 prices holding strong isn't too surprising; very popular as expected. Just hoping we get a restock soon to get more chances of pulling these cards haha
i think the restock already happened, saw empty booster bundle tray and tins at my local targets
No more boxes or bundles. Only ETB's and UPCS
Paradox Rift does seem to be doing well, so far. The pokemon that are in that set just art doing it for me. What Im excited about is Paldea Fates, cant wait.

There’s some cool stuff in paradox rift, I mostly just want to finish my master set for 151 right now though.
The Paradox Rift set actually has some really nice cards, not just sr's but commons as well. I need that Snorunt full art too cute :))
Literally loving the SIRs so much. They just bring some cool aspects to my collections and Im enjoying the hunt so much!
I was expecting Obsidian Flames to do much better but I'm glad that 151 is doing as well as it is.
I've been picking up the ones I've been missing but I've been considering picking up some extras of the cheap ones and some of my favorites

Recently found a decent deal on base SV, and got some decent pulls! There's some fantastic art in this set so I'm definitely not disappointed!

There’s a lot of cards in some great sets going real cheap at the moment, now is the time to buy. I’ve also been noticing a lot of people selling off their collections fairly cheap at the moment too.

Iron V is likely to go back down. Its a competitive card atm so people are grabbing it for deck building.

I have only been focused on the 151 pack but I loved this video.
SIRs I think have been one of, if not, the best additions to the tcg for card variety

A lot of the illustration rares have some really cool art to go with these too. There’s a lot of nice ones out there to chase lol

It’s crazy that some of these cards are so cheap, could it be because of the pull rate of some of the cards or is it just the size of certain sets and popularity of Pokémon ?

The artwork is great on almost all SIRs. The ones not doing to well often involve the not so liked Pokemon. Regarding the waifu, it is just more loved in Japan looking at the Erika from 151

Honourable mention goes to the Paldea Evolved Magikarp which is the FOURTH most valuable card in the S&V era despite being just an IR.

Maybe people and their bank accounts are a little worn out from 151 so that's why the Paldea Fates aren't going as fast 🤷

Yea booster boxes are the most effective way to pull cards in my opinion
