Ford 2.3L Duratec Engine

One of the shops we visited during our Mooresville, NC trip was Poteat's Engine Rebuilding in Kannapolis. We spoke to Andrew Seldomridge about the kinds of engines the shop typically works on and found it that they do a little bit of everything, including both gas and diesel engine work. They had a Ford 2.3L Duratec short block coming together, which is something more unique for Poteat's, so we got the details of the build. Old NA 2.3 duratec, closed deck design for superior sealing. New turbocharged 2.3 ecoboost, open deck design for inferior sealing. They call it “progress.”
