What I Wore this day: www.chelseawears.com/2012/10/w...
A little vlog for you guys (recorded at the end of September, 2012) detailing my second surgery to remove any possible remaining melanoma cells. Not a sob story for pity and please don't worry, I'm going to be absolutely fine -- this video aims to encourage others who are a little suspicious of something on their skin to get to a dermatologist to check it out. Better safe than sorry!
Thanks for watching!!!
Disclaimer: I earned this melanoma with my own sad, sad skin. Not a PR sample ;) Go to the dermatologist!

Hey sweetie! I just ran across your melanoma videos and love them. Thank you for sharing. You published this two months before my sister died of melanoma. I am so thankful for people like you that share your experience and urge other people to go in for a dermatologist and to take the mole scare seriously. I am so happy to see you alive and well four years after posting your videos!! Staying alive is awesome!! Wear that dent like a badge of honor!
Thank you so much for sharing! Your positivity is really inspiring, given the difficult situation you are dealing with. Positive attitude does help in the recovery process and I really hope that you'll get healthy soon!
I'm happy you shared this with us because I really will go get checked now, just to make sure everything's clear. I really hope the results will come clear for you and this will all get done and dusted. I hope these vlogs go to a lot of people because raising the awareness is such an important thing. So thank you so much and I wish you the best of luck with your results. ♥ Loads of love xxx
I'm so glad that all went well! Thank you for being so open about your experience thus far. On a shallower note, love the nail polish you are wearing.
I cannot tell you how amazing you are for posting this, (even though I'm discovering it YEARS later).. I'm 24 and am going through what you experienced. Yesterday I had my second "surgery", which was done after my first biopsy came back atypical. Unlike you though, my mole was on, (of all places), my foot. I didn't even know it was there until the dermatologist asked about it. I've been stressing out about the whole situation, but this has put me at ease completely. Thanks again!
thank you so much for making this video. I'm going through my first biopsy and definitely freaking out but your videos about your experience really calmed me down.
So glad to see your incredible sense of humor is stil intact. Stay positive and strong. xoxo
Hey, I also am a cancer survivor and yes I do have days when I eat utter crap but rest of the days,as I'm a vege, I have separate fruit juice a day and separate vege juice the next day. Apple is neutral and can be included in fruit and vege juice. In the fruit juice I include all berries, orange, apple, plum. In the vege juice I include celery, spinach, apple, beetroot, courgette, carrot, cucumber, red pepper, ginger and lemon. I also have multivitamins 3 days a week. That will do you wonders.
I hope the surgery was successful at getting all of the melanoma out! I'm amazed at how happy and jokingly you can still be, you're awesome Chelsea.
SO glad you're doing better and yes i agree it's very important to remember that things could be much worse!
I'm so happy you are doing well! You have such a great attitude about it all!
So glad you're doing well! It's great that you have such a positive perspective about this whole ordeal. A few years ago I drove an ATV through a barbed wire fence resulting in many stitches in my left arm and chin (over 80 in total). They were really bad at first but have faded a lot over time. Although I was really self-conscious about my scars at first, they serve as a reminder about how it could have been much worse. By the way, the MUFE Full Cover concealer is amazing at covering scars! :)
You are so brave, Chelsea! I am sure you are and forever will be cancer free. Forget about the scar, this is what will make you unique and I am sure the people who love you won't care at all. It will be part of your history, part of your journey to enjoying life to the fullest, to becoming a better person ( I am not implying you are not a good person, now, I am simply saying that such experiences make us reassess and reevaluate what is important in life.) Hugs from Greece :)
Hoping that you get clear margins, and glad that your surgery went well! Thanks for sharing this with us.
how could you make a video like this so funny at times on such a serious issue?! shah i was hysterical when you talked about talking to the nurse during the surgery. i pray that you stay healthy after this!
It's really brave of you to share this with everyone, glad you are alright.
Thank you for sharing. What I see is a very strong young lady with a strong will which will beat the heck out of anything... Hope you tell that to your grandchildren one day. Lots of love from Manchester England.
Your attitude is very inspiring, especially for people that are going through the same thing!
I need to make an appointment!
Glad you are doing well and you have a really good mama who has got your back!!
Wow! What a story....you are one of the bravest persons on this planet. I am sooo glad that you are OK. Actually, even though you've been through one of the most scary life events that anyone would have to go through, you look very healthy. I truly believe in supplements...if a person cannot get the nutrients they need from what they eat daily, supplements are a godsend. Keep up the positive and cheery attitude! It wears well on you. Again, I am so glad you are cancer-free!
so sorry to hear that, it really is such a scary thing. i wish your family member the best as well, thank you!
I had pre-melanoma in the exact same spot! I'm 17, have had pre-melanoma taken out twice, and grew up in orange county where people are outside in the sun CONSTANTLY. Thanks for sharing your story I hope it makes people more wary of staying in the sun too long!
So glad to hear everything went well and you're on the mend! I was tested at the start of the year for skin melanoma, thankfully it came back clear but that was all down to watching a YT vid - I'm sure your story will help many! Gotta say, you never fail to crack me up.. fartin' on the nurse n' all.. :D
Thank you for sharing. my 28 year old daughter was diagnosed Friday with Stage 4 melanoma cancer. She had a mole removed from her cheek. not far from her eye. but The Dr. is sending her to a Melanoma cancer clinic at UMC in Jackson MS. as her Mother. I am terrified. I wish you the best. thank you for sharing your story. Keep The Faith.
Is your daughter alright? That must be very difficult.
I'm so sorry. I hope your daughter is doing well.
I just got my ‘surgery’ to remove any stray cancer cells removed yesterday. I did it in the office with lidocaine. I am glad I found your videos, it feels so surreal and serious but not serious at the same time.
Oh my god, I love you! Your sense of humor is awesome! And yessss, bread and butter is life!!!
So glad you're ok! Thanks for sharing this with us.
thanks so much, glad to hear how strong you are in your own life too!
Thank you for sharing. You have a great attitude. I just found out I have melanoma on my right elbow. I go in on Tuesday to have it removed. I'm old though, 58:). I also have 3 squamous cell spots that will be removed. It's good to keep the bandage on like you do, helps keep people from bumping into it. Best of luck to you and your recovery!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I really admire your attitude and optimistic outlook. I wish you all the best during your healing process. You're such a kick ass chick!
thanks for making this video, im 20 and i have a suspicious mole im going to the doctors about next week [it just hasnt seemed right and ive put it off for 6 months] but you were really informative and i realy loved seeing your attitude it made me less worried (: hope everythings ok with you now xx
I wanna thank you for making this video that makes me better and positive. I'm 22, and I think I have "melanoma skin cancer" from my friend's call cause she's a nurse. in order to make sure, I will go see a doctor and get surgery if it's necessary. I feel so bad and sad cause I have a lot of things need to do now, and this issue might stop me... Thank you again ;-)
amen!! hope you the best with your skin in the future!
What a darling, thoughtful young lady you are! And your mother sounds like a gem. Best of luck to you and God Bless.
So glad you are ok! Smart girl. Stay vigilant! All the love and blessings!

I'm so glad everything is doing well. You are very wise :) Best of wishes for you. A big hug!
My grandfather had two skin cancers removed from his head about a month ago!!! He's feeling pretty good now but that was a rough time too!!! I'm happy you're feeling better!!! And this makes me think about starting to eat better too -.-'....!!! Keep strong!!!!
I love how you are so positive about all of this! Its nice to know you are now eating healthy and lets hope you are 200% free of cancer, cause youtube isn't the same without you :)
What a hero... I myself am 33 and just 5 days ago underwent a melanoma excision... Let me start here: beginning of July 2013 I approached my GP with concerns of a festering 5 year 'spot''. She thought it benign, but after a week opted to send me for another opinion.
Oh my...I totally missed you last clog on this and didn't know :O I have a mole on my foot and have been meaning to get it checked for ages. I'm gonna book an appointment tomorrow! I wish you well and hope that the surgery was completely successfully.
Hello Chelsea,i'm going through the same thing's your going through now.i have squeamish cell on my arm and basil cell on my leg.never had any kind of cancer.thank you for giving me information whats going to happen next.prayers are with you and for you and your family.

I have so much admiration for you! You are such an inspirational girl and always make me laugh. Chin up and i'm sure everything will be ok xx Samantha from England x
I commend you for blogging your experience; you have given many women a reason to care for their body and perhaps give a loved one to do so. Much love to you sister...
Christa Laidlaw thank you for sharing your story
When people have cancer, it help not eating a lot of sugar (althoughbut it's quite difficult) because cancerous cells need a lot of sugar for growth - that is why your mom doesn't let you eat a cot of carbs (sugar). You're very beautiful, and thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. Good luck on the recovery! :)
Thank you for sharing your situation. Glad that you are getting better. You look beautiful as usual. Take care of yourself. Love you much!
Chelsea you are so beautiful inside and outside, the scar in your beautiful arm is the signal of your life ,god bless you and give you health, and bless all your family. You are so sweet young girl and your courage showed in this video make you a very special person. :)
thank you, all better now! hugs!
Great video as always! I'm so glad the surgery went well and hopefully your arm will heal very and you will totally forget about it:)
It sucks you had to wait so long to get surgery, but I'm so glad you're better! Your mom sounds like an amazing mom. Try not to worry about the dent in your arm, you're beautiful no matter what!
My grandmother had a Melanoma patch on the left side of her face. You can still see a bit of scarring left over even years later, but most of it has cleared. I hope everything goes well for you in life. Seeing her scarring reminds me so much of the benefits of SPF. Her doctor has since then recommended Clinique to wear. Never would have considered that but hey if it works why not.
what a crazy story!! that concealer is good -- i am totally going to use it on my arm for special occasions!
Thank you for sharing. I accidentally stumbled on your vlog. You are too cute and real with a warm personality. That's a good reminder for us all. I will make sure I get my mole checked out too.
Chelsea you're hilarious and you are awesome for sharing your story! and don't worry too much about scarring! Also, you should check 'oh she glows' if you haven't already, there's recipes for juicing and tonnes of other recipes! glad you're okay now!
Hi Chelsea!
After surgery (and after stiches come out too) we usually recommend people to massage the skin with Nivea cream (the one in the blue tin - I don't think there's any other reason besides it's cheap and people aren't usually allergic to it). The massage over the scar makes it heal better, not create weird adhesions and, all in all, make it a pretty scar. Maybe it could help a bit with the dent!
Glad everything went all right! =)
Hi Chelsea! I`m glad your are doing well.. you are right.. health is everything.. take good care of yourself girl!
xo
You are so strong :) So glad that everything is going well!
thank you, i hope it fills out as the skin gets more flexible!
You're amazing! this was so laid back and calming despite the fact that melanoma Is so serious I was freaking out when I found a weird looking mole on my leg and went into full panic mode basically the whole day i just felt like this was a walking death sentence on my leg haha and seeing this was just so amazing! I'm so glad I found your video! thanks so much.
Lucy Vargas Hello! I was wondering what happened when you had it looked at? I just had a biopsy yesterday, and I'm so nervous!
Did you ever upload a part 3. I was very interested in watching it. Im getting this mole on my palm looked at in a couple of weeks, and i been watching and reading everything i can find on melanoma on the net i can find.
So glad you're okay! I went to the derm after your last video. She actually ended up removing a suspicious mole on my leg, buuuuuut it turned out to be benign. So yay! Thanks for the kick in the ass. Also, we're obv dent scar sistas for lyfe; don't sweat it.
You are beautiful inside and out. Glad to see that you have taken such a positive attitude, I am sure that life will bring positive things equally. You are an example to follow. Best wishes from Galicia.
Thanks for your video. I am a physician and I really appreciate that you have taken time to post this video for other people to watch and make the right decisions when it comes to preventive medicine. There was a part in your video (which I won't mention) that made me laugh so hard! it was really funny... I had to play it twice as I asked myself "did she really say that?" lol. I wish you a full and permanent recovery.
Loved this, I'm glad the surgery went so well. I laughed so hard at the farting part. When I was under anaesthetic once I remember just crying and crying and crying and then just laughing hysterically. Man... it was an emotional time. Those drugs make you crazy! Big love xx
So so sorry that you had to go through this:( Glad youre ok
your skin tone is so super gorgeous!!!! i love it! you so pretty! and those eyes? sheeeew :D
Glad you're okay and thank you for sharing your experience! I think no one'll be paying attention to the dent, you shouldn't be self-conscious!
Your so brave! I bet your Mom is so proud . Don't we all want our Mommy when we're sick? You go girl. Thanks for getting us all thinking about getting a skin check.
I went to Dermatologist two weeks ago to have a mole on my right cheek checked since I noticed it getting bigger. They did a biopsy and was
informed I had in situ Melanoma! I'm scheduled to have surgery next week to excise the rest of it just sucks I'm going to have a big ass scare on my cheek but better that then the alternative! Thanks for sharing your story with us!
Michael Bowles Do you mind telling me what happened? I just had a biopsy done yesterday, because a mole that I've had forever started to change. But, I am so nervous. Can you tell me your experience, if you don't mind?
yay, glad to hear it!!
so hilarious and i'm so happy to know everything ran smoothly for everyone but the nurse:)
It sucks of course, but you're so lucky you caught it early. A member of my family has terminal cancer, they caught it too late (she only complained of something when the pain arose and by then it was all over inside of her). It's such a powerless feeling realizing that nothing can be done anymore. Anyway, I hope you continue to do well. My best wishes! :-)
I am so happy to hear that the melanoma is gone, their is no better news than that!!! Best wishes.
Loved the Voldemort reference! Glad you're starting to heal! Thanks again for being honest about all of this! Went to get a freaky looking thing on my toe checked and luckily it was a weird old scar that never healed right, my mom even said to tell that "CZcams lady" thanks :)
Glad you are doing well Chelsea! :) best wishes
Glad you're feeling better x
You're beautiful, hilarious and a great inspiration! Love the Kardashian Konfession. That show saves lives! You have inspired me greatly with these videos to 1) check my moles and 2) eat my veggies. I don't eat that many veggies either. Whoopsy! TAKE CARE!! Keep smiling, Khelsea!
I like your upbeat, positive spirit, and hope you are doing well! Stay safe.👍🙂
thanks so much for the kind words!
Thank you!! Do you freak when you get new freckles? I have been treated but now I look at all new growth as suspicious. The constant removals and biopsy are getting to be so crazy. I need to learn more about prevention and diet. I just had something removed from my lip. How have you dealt with the after....melanoma?
omg!! i hope everything goes well!!!
Please do an update on this.....I am going through this now and want to know more
You're so right about them giving directions at the worst possible times! WHY do they do that? I remember I was going under for a procedure and they informed me I had e. coli. Didn't remember them telling me that till days later! And that's an important thing to know
Thank you so much for sharing all this!
girlcrush!
i really like your attitude and your sense of humor. i wish you all the best :-)
hi from berlin (germany)!
You're really inspiring. I wish you the best.
It's great you shared your experience! I work in a dermatology office, so I am constantly trying to convince people to wear sunscreen! Plus you are hilarious, "watching the Kardashians saves lives" :)
thanks! i've been rubbing it alot. it's pretty weird, even now, when i play tug of war with my dog and i guess my skin is being stretched it will tingle a ton. still needs to keep healing!
I think your the only person who can make cancer funny! Glad everything turned out well. ;)
It's not funny idiot
I'm gonna get my mole looked at, I was terrified when a black spot grew. Your story gives me hope, thank you so much.
how did it go?
When you described the post-op instructions and your reaction I laughed. It reminded me of the day after my c-section and having told them my eyesight wasn't right in the morning, they sort of told me don't worry if it doesn't get better in 5 days then tell us, then in the afternoon they brought me what seemed like hundreds of papers to read and sign. Reads* "The patient The patient" (one written on top of the other but sort of one above the other and blurry)... took awhile.
Hey Chelsea :) Glad to hear you're doing well! Purely out of curiosity, did you have any symptoms of melanoma with that mole, like itching or burning? I always tell myself that I don't need to get anything checked or worry about it if I am not having any problems with it (which I know is NOT good since I'm about as fair as you). I have a major phobia of dermatologists (and doctors in general...)
I'm a nurse and your explanation of your surgery made me lol!! Glad you are ok, it's a difficult diagnosis to hear.
Besides doctors and medicine, and also being juicing by mom, I believe being positive helps a lot,
and you have such a great humor that soon all you have been trough it's going to be just a memory... keep smiling Chelsea! ;)
You're so flipping funny! I love watching your videos, glad you're doing well :)
So glad to hear that you're doing well =)
Hope you're okay and hope they got it all!
Big hugs to you. Glad your feeling better. Your so funny and thanks for sharing. You could use a ace bandage wrap to wrap around it too.
Second opinion, also thought benign, but after consideration, opted to have it removed. 30 days go by with my 8 stitch biopsy. I thought no news good news. I get a call while at work; I don't like doing this on the phone, but you have melanoma. 2 weeks later I'm in the OR having a surgery much like yours... And left a dent in my forearm. Dr. couldn't close, and I was left with an open wound to heal in about 4-5 weeks.
great story -- learning to embrace it! thank you!
