Most people don't realise that this is one of the oldest rivalries in sports history. Both clubs were created in 1891, two weeks apart.
both from the capital of Sweden
@@Sviareik Both borned to hate it each other.
Djurgården wars actually created 1889 but became an official organization the year 1891
@@rickard1119 how can they become official years before it was made? It doesn't make any sense. Are you talking about the football branch of Djurgården?
@@jidder57 den nuvarande föreningen är 1891. Men DIF bildades först 1889, men kassören drog med kassan efter ett år. Föreningen omstartade därför 1891, och det är den starten vi räknar som grundandet.
As a swede, and AIK supporter, I loved seeing this!
If I were to sum up swedish football I'd say this: World class fans and potato grade football.
hahaha låter som svenk fotboll x)
So true. Also AIK supporter.. 😁
Sadly very, very true:)
Skämmer ut er med pyrorök nog att stänga av matchen, arbetslösa luffare.
@Darryl Robert Hayward Yeah Allsvenskan is like English League two lol
That lil kids English is fantastic
It's embarrassing for us really as we can't speak any other languages, but abroad so many countries speak multi languages
@@jhaych Most of Europe communicate in English when talking to other Europeans. It doesn't mean British people are dumber, just that no other European language dominates enough to be the go to 2nd language. Plus Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium etc watched a lot of British television going back many decades as they can receive our BBC and ITV across the North Sea and our Radio stations on Long Wave and Medium Wave
@@dabro2080 no I understand, nothing to do with the countries IQ (which is low haha) but you can't help but respect and appreciate other countries attitude and achievements to speak English and to the high level that they do.
@@jhaych I’m English and can speak swedish as a second language, but there is no demand for it, hence why England puts values on other areas of education instead. The IQ in England is certainly not low (over average at around 101-102)
@@dabro2080 Idk how it was before but now we learn english from gaming and social media rather than watching english tv or radio
"people here walk like they actually have somewhere to go" that made my day
Was thinking the same and cashed out proportionally waaaay too much pride in it.
What an atmosphere, and what a stadium. Fair play Swedes... fair play indeed. 🇬🇧🙌👏
Yes It was decent. But We have a much More passionate club you should check out - Hammarby. They took the culture to Sweden and are still clearly the biggest and loudest fans, known as northern Europes most fanatic fans. Thats why Zlatan bought them by the way. NeXT month we are playing no.2 club in Sweden Malmoe in the cup-finale. You should check it out, and it you think this game was mental, just Wait and see.. Welcome to Sweden.
@@Dr_Dengrot hahahahahaha
@@Dr_Dengrot HAHAhahhaah what a joke
@@Dr_Dengrot You forgot to tell them you have 1 league trophy 😂

Great to see fans from other countries appreciating our football!🇸🇪⚽️
It's not the football, really...
I am a AIK fan from sweden hello
We Finn's are jealous of your Sports -culture, whether its the ice hockey or football.
You should be proud. The Derby of Helsinki is the biggest football derby here, actually played tonight and I think like 5000 people is going to attend..
Fet namn
AIK Fan from Bulgaria. Was on the match! Vi é AIK!
I think you just did more for Swedish football than SVFF have managed to ever accomplish with all their ad millions. Great atmosphere and video!
I'm from Finland and I'm so jealous of the football culture our neighbour's have 🙏🏻. Astonishing. Their women's football is brilliant as well and I really appreciate that 👏🏻. We have no football culture here 😅. It's pathetic. Heja Sverige 🇸🇪!
I didn’t realise this! Who would you say is the most supported club in Finland? Is it because you like other sports or just because Finnish people watch English football or something?
@@stuntpeggnieve here in finland ice hockey is most popular sport, and loads ppl watch english premier league too but our most supported club is prolly HJK and they are lucky to have 4k attendance unless its derby day.
@@stuntpeggnieve HJK from Helsinki is the most supported and biggest club in Finland. They also always have the most money by far 😅. I support FC Inter which is from my hometown , Turku. Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Finland and most people go and see that instead of football. If you ever visit Finland and wanna go see a game, I'd recommend HJK v. HIFK which is our equivalent of the Stockholm derby. That match usually has the best atmosphere.
@@alsunpilsut Keep going to matches and support your team, it will get better eventually. There are a lot of passionate football fans in Finland, but we need more people to appreciate the "event", so to say, of going to the stadium on matchday and support their team live, and not in front of the TV or the newspaper.
Heja Sverige! Älska AIK 💛🖤
That number 19 is the son of Henrik Larsson btw.
Genuinely made me want to start going to different derbies round the world this. Great content as per.
What passion! Thanks for taking us on this journey of football. This means so much to all of us football fans who've never experienced this kind of atmosphere. Thank you and wish you the best!
Thank you for showing us football rivalries from different place Nieve. It's been a great series and looking forward to more from you!
I follow AIK from Argentina. Team's got amazing energy!!! Proud to have national representation (Nicolás Stefanelli) in it 🇦🇷🖤💛
as a swedish DIF supporter i hate AIK
@@amuffinguy521 tagga då
Argentina, Argentina, Argentina ☀️
Aik has the weakest fans though. Theyre number 3 in Stockholm. Just look around her in the video, dead fans. Not even their ultras have much energy.
Nico did the only goal in the derby. Thank you Argentina.
Had the absolute pleasure of watching Hammarby play Goteborg when I was in Stockholm and the atmosphere was amazing!!! The Swedes do enjoy their football!
Bet that was brilliant, it’s such a gorgeous country too, definitely going to make a few return visits!
@@stuntpeggnieve Get tickets to Hammarby v Malmö FF cupfinal, will be a huge game.
The football itself in Allsvenskan are at best mediocre... but the atmosphere around the bigger games/teams and especially the derbys are on par or even better than most of the european leagues. Great video, glad you enjoyed the experience. FRAMÅT STOLTA AIK!!!
Never realised Sweden had such rivalry in their football league. Fascinating.
We hate djurgården and Hammarby!

One of your best videos this - not seen anyone else shed light on this Derby - all the action covered and great insight as well👏🏻
Thank you Conor, I noticed there wasn’t a great deal of coverage on it and I’ve always fancied going to Sweden. Really chuffed with this comment, appreciate it a lot 👊🏼
@@stuntpeggnieve No worried at all! Sweden does look an incredible place🙌🏻 Keep smashing it💪🏼
Thanks for the video Nieve,,thanks for the virtual journey,,such a great atmosphere ,,,goosebump
My best memory are from England, when we (AIK fans )sing out Arsenal in champion League 1999.
The Arsenal fans was 65000 , we was 6000 and we did it in English.
Absolute great video this. Unbelievable atmosphere and fair to young lad giving his time talking to you and great English he spoke.. keep up the great work
In Sweden we learn English from a very young age in school, that’s why most of us speak near to fluent English.
@@tobiaskallstrom575 yeah, back when I was young we started learning English in 4th grade but think it's from 1st grade now. Anyone above the age of 15 is more or less fluent in English I'd say.
Fantastic - amazing train and what a match! Thanks for taking us there…have fun, keep traveling, keep doing what you love to do…excellent fan view
Great video Nieve and giving us a look at games on the continent and how the matchday experience differs
Fantastic vlog on a Derby new to me. Captured the spirit and atmosphere perfectly. Plus a random Beer Review.
Well done.
Really loved this Nieve, seeing football in a different country and how the matchday experience and stadiums differ to UK ones, Hope you do more European jaunts like this
Love that you came to Sweden! Thank you for spreading the word.
and I thought the Liverpool Everton rivalry was intense. They're insane!!
welcome to Sweden
Isn't that known as "the friendly derby" or something? Like being the two clubs from the same city with the least rivalry? That's just what I've heard. I don't know much
@@fizzle61 then you have heard wrong. Intense rivalry and hatred for each other trough out many many decades
@@tjifons he is talking about the Merseyside derby that also has been called the friendly derby.
But the reason for that was because of the large number of families in the city with both Everton and Liverpool supporters. And it was one of the few derbys that did not enforce total fan segregation.
@@fizzle61 It was called that many years ago but its most definitely not friendly anymore
Another superb video - Thank you for sharing your experience of Swedish footie. Love the European atmosphere, with flares and pyros, just makes it so much more interesting than English football.
Loved the video! What a set of amazing fans! ^^
Your Football vlogs are incredible Nieve you rock!!
Awesome vlog 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and kudos to that brave kid, brilliant!
wow.. you are amazing
Great video and editing! Thanks!
Niamh, your enthusiasm for football is infectious. I really enjoy watching your videos. Please keep up the great work.
Absolutely over the moon to see you back at football and filming! Keep up the work you're doing such a splendid job Niamh! I hope you get the recognition your work deserves
Found your channel by accident and now you have a new subscriber. I'm hoping to start getting to some foreign grounds next season , and a Stockholm Derby is most definitely on my radar after watching this.
Great blog as always thanks from Sydney Australia
Absolutely brilliant Nieve as usual. Loved the fireworks bit and yes you did have to get back out there. Scenes!!!!
Awesome how this young guy is so skille din english and the rules! Great and informative! :D
Love these gameday videos!
Love this! Also nice to see Jesper "The Oracle" Hoffman at 11.06, Swedens most notorious Fantasy Premier League-player ;)
Haha yes! And thank you!
This has to be one of the best football videocasts in the world. StuntPegg you rules with humorous comments and fantastic engagement 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Your videos are the sole reason why going to watch European football in person is in my bucket list. As someone who has lived in America their whole life, I can definitely say that the football (both NFL and MLS) atmosphere here is nothing like the European club rivalry games.
Thank you for this video. I’m in a terrible part of my life and that win meant so much. And to now get a little of that feeling again just fantastic. And there is debate in Sweden that supporters are a bunch of hooligans. So this video means a lot AIK 🖤💛
Oooooh another unique place we see Nieve watch football, got to love the commitment!
Great video as always!
A fun fact: the player you mention at about 10:18, AIK’s number 19, is the son of Henrik Larsson, Jordan.
I love seeing these fans perspective of European football, brilliant 👍👍
Great vlog! Greetings from Stockholm 🇸🇪 Hope you liked your trip :)
Love the videos Nieve
Welcome to sweden, hope you enjoyed the game and our supporter culture, i was at that game as well standing in the AIK ultras section
great video, Nieve, loving the content! if you plan on covering other derbies in Scandinavia in future, i suggest the Copenhagen derby, FC København (Copenhagen) vs. Brøndby, the atmosphere at that game is insane! :)
Det där barnets engelska är utmärkt! Jag älskade den här videon Nieve. Bra gjort!
Great vlog! Hope you had a nice time here.
Loving the videos.
Its so fun to see this game from another perspective, I was there that day screaming my lungs out for Djurgården. 💙❤️💛
One side of the stadium looked like a battlefield. The passion of football fans never ceases to amaze me. Too bad the Finnish football teams aren't that great. At least we have ice hockey though.
The only Finnish teams that come close to having a proper atmosphere are HJK & HIFK. Stadin Derby is probably the most impressive derby game in the country, although that too pales in comparison to the Stockholm derbies.
Klubipääty ja stadin kingit tuo ihan eurooppalaisen tunnelman suomeen
Fantastic video! Thanks!
Nice that you came here to see a Stockholm Derby. My team is Djurgården. (We lost...) I haven't been at a derby for years, but I used to go to every match like twenty years ago.
Woow I really did not want this video to end please do this type more often, danke
Thank you very much!!
Thank you for spreading the amazing football culture we have in Sweden.
Heja Djurgår'n 💛❤️💙
What an amazing video!
Kärlek från Sverige 🇸🇪
Thank you so much! Tack! 💙💛
Wow, incredible atmosphere
The atmosphere looked mental! Thank you for giving us so much insight on European football and the history of European clubs who many people probably don't know a lot about. 1 question though, how do you get tickets to these games?
Look at the teams instagram, usually u can find a Link to the tickets there
Nah this was really bad atmosphere for a Stockholm derby, usually much better than this. Too many tourists in the stands unfortunately. Look how dead it is around her, typical tourist "fans".
@@rogbro3438 Klart det är sämre atmosfär på sittplats än i klackarna...

Excellent video. I'm going to book a City break to Stockholm for the next Derby .
Great to see you enjoy our culture 🖤💛
As a Hammarby fan, as a swedish football fan. I really like when people from all over the world visit to watch our league play. You show come watch a match between Hammarby vs Malmö/AIK or Djurgården. Great video!
This was AiK djurgården?
@@DrErnst yes but honestly the Hammarby - AIK derby is even better than this
What a game! I really hope you enjoyed it, thanks for the great video! Few football supporters outside Sweden know about the amazing games and supporter culture we have here. Thanks for showing it. Btw, maybe you could bring Thogden with you for next time, I think he would enjoy this as well!
Outplayed most of the game yeah sure. And a goalkeeper that luckily for you had great reflexes this game. One chance one goal. Not really deserved 3 points but you won congrats you wont be as lucky next time.
@@kingwacky184 Haha, King Wacky being a loser as usual, lol. Djurgården didnt do anything with their chances, AIK did, and AIK had much more of the ball and the game, but also defended really well and the win was very deserved.
What a quality video, wow those fans. Never knew anything about these 2 sides
Wait until you see Hammarby
Your videos are heart-warming, professional, engaging, and, generally, exceptional.
Thank you very much David, really kind, love comment and it means an awful lot to read.
The fans here are really amazing. I understand the tremendous pressure the players are under. But it's awesome
Love the atmosphere
That young boys English was amazing.
Glad you got your beer!
Wonderful video. I'm not a huge football-fan but I loved it.
Thank you so much!
Since 1924 they have faced each other in Allsvenskan 125 times, 51 AIK victories , 45 draw and 29 Djurgården victories.
Absolut! Haha
Wish we could have standing, ultras and flares etc in England, it would improve the atmospheres massively
The flares isnt allowed, and could result in fine, both for the club and the person who is holding it i think. But we got the rest of it :)
England cant have nice things, because they simply cant behave!
You used to have great atmosphere. Wtf happened?
Welcome back anytime!👍 FRAMÅT STOLTA AIK! 🖤💛🖤
Love your work 👌 feel like I’m there with ya
Glad you experienced a nice derby win for the pride of Sweden 💛🖤
Superb reportage (that sounds posh...).
I'd love to see you do more of these.
Schalke vs Dortmund (Ruhr derby) would be awesome
Haha! Thank you so much, I’m in desperate need of some German football and that’s on my list of ones to look out for too!

This is so nice to see as a DIF fan 💛❤️💙
Im off to Stockholm next month. Would have loved to have experienced an atmosphere like this! Looks fantastic and the fans are way more fanatical than what we have in the Premier League!
What date are you coming here? We have some great games in a month aswell
@@siggelito7869 Its gonna be in June so its actually going to be just after the season finishes. Looks like a fantastic atmosphere, better and more passionate than at most Premier League stadiums in England.
@@rjflores438 ahh alright, in Sweden our season is from spring - autumn but in June most clubs have “summer break”. The 26th of June Hammarby plays against häcken, will be a great game!
I recommend that you go and watch the next derby between these two teams but at Tele 2 arena because the pressure is often even better there
Fun fact about this derby is that this is one of Europe’s most one sided derby. In the last 10 years Djurgården has only managed to win 1 game. That game was also during the pandemic and with empty seats. Nice coverage 😊
Oh wow! I had seen that AIK were more successful in recent years but didn’t realise quite how much! Thank you 😊
Wow that was a cool experience. I could feel the atmosphere!
02:17 wrong finger my dear! Always the middle finger against Djurgården. Great episode!
Haha! Thank you!

The beauty of Swedish football is one week you can be playing in a world class stadium like the Friends Arena (although I miss Råsunda) and the next you can be playing at somewhere like Värnamo in front of 2000 fans. (now celebrating our 2nd ever season in the top flight)
That kid's English is just brilliant!

Dying to go to this. Loved the vid 👏🏻
I think, no matter of what club you support in Sweden, you have to appreciate the beauty of the supporter culture. Especially at the 3 different Stockholm derbys.
I always tell foreigners to go to a Sthlm derby
Not my favourite teams, but nice atmosphere.
We don’t have club football at the highest European level, but the fan culture is there.
Great video, that lad was brilliant, impresses me their level of English at such a young age.
Thanks for visiting.
